Good staff, lots of roaches

This motel strikes me as one that the owners purchased at a discount and quickly and economically attempted to renovate on a shoe-string budget. The woman at the front desk was quite nice and friendly and provided a recommendation for dinner, which turned out to be great. In the room...the paint and flooring appears newer, but applied quickly (lots of paint platter and a bit sloppy). The furniture is worn and mismatched...full size bed/mattress appears quite dated and is not comfortable. We never could get the remote to communicate with the cable box, so no TV during our stay. This particular room has a separate bedroom with what appears to be a newer bed, so at least one member of your party will probably get a decent night's sleep. There is also a small coffee maker (no coffee was provided, however--just a packet containing sugar,napkin, and stir-stick). We did not use the coffee maker. There is also a small fridge, which worked well. Bathroom is spacious and the water was hot/decent pressure. Interestingly the toiletries provided were all by different manufacturers, and seemed somewhat random. The beach can be accessed through a short walk through the parking lot of the property and through a small section of cottages. Overall, this is an older, no-frills motel located within a short walk to the beach. If your expectations are low and you are really just looking for somewhere to stay the night, this might work well for you.

Well seasoned motel separated from the beach by the dunes. Perfect location for visiting. Motel is older and it shows but it doesn't take away from its charm. The desk attendants were quick and knowledgeable about the area. Parking is mixed concrete and gravel and a safe spot to be. A sanded patio area had a couple sets of inviting outdoor furniture.

Our stay was pretty good. I think the room #29 could be more user friendly Ie; shelves, area for hanging clothes and a space for suit case.

I liked everything! I always stay here when I come down to Avon. There are not many places like this anymore. I really liked the newly “to me” renovated rooms. Always very clean and didn’t see one bug.

This is a all around great motel! The staff was incredible & so accommodating for our stay! We were pleasantly surprised by how clean our room was! It had fresh paint, a nice little fridge & great microwave. Our coffee pot was hot or miss but it was nice to walk across the street to ugly mugs. It was a short walk to the beach, nice path! We definitely will stay here again!

Stay was great, we stay here almost every year, and we always get treated very well.

Looks like our room had recently been renovated. Quite cutely decorated. This motel is a great location and easy walk to the beach. Some of the other motel guests appeared a bit shady, often seen sitting outside and smoking. Besides that, was a nice stay for 2 nights.

just not a good clean place.

It's a cute clean location and pet friendly. I would not stay again is because the beds are awful. It's the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. Prepare they will put a hold on your payment two days before your stay without telling you.

Every aspect of our visit was great. The room was exceptionally clean! Everyone we had contact with were courteous and friendly!

Fast contrast. There's a three quarter inch difference in the entry area to the living area. There were no tables except for the nightstand one between the two beds. And couch which I never said on however the beds were not all that comfortable. Big box springs. There were lots of broken or damaged things in the room. No curtains. The windows recovered with very cheap plastic lines. One had no blind and there was enough light coming in the windows that it was hard to sleep. All walls are painted. However the headboards were damaged in the beds were great and it was nice it won't let me upload the photos

Great location for a mid-summer break. I will be staying here again. There is a grocery store down the street and plenty of places to eat within walking distance.

Good with the exception of Palmetto roaches.

When I tried to check in, the lady at the desk tried to charge me more than double of what i agreed to when i booked the room for one night. I booked the room 2 months in advance at a great rate. I told her that i used expedia and she said i was kucky to even have a room??? I had to show her my confirmation on my phone. Just a poor attitude and pretty rude all around. Its sad, because i really really like this motel. Its a dive, but in a great location. Just be prepared when u check in.

So nice to be in a quiet place by the beach with plenty of things to do in the area.

I loved my stay of 4 nights - great staff, room, access to beach and outdoor area. I would recommend two things -1 a drop box for if you check out and office is closed!! 2 maybe paint one space parking number in front of each motel room and if extra space needed park in front of outdoor seating area, as I had a man yelling at me for parking in front of my room because it was too close to his car because he didn’t know how to park. As a female I didn’t want him to mess with car or continue yelling at me so I moved my car in front of outdoor seating area and walked to my room. I had to do this 3 of 4 nights. Marked spots would stop this. I would stay hear again!!

It was a small room but very clean. The 3 minute walk to the beach was great as well as the proximity to Avon Pier I would definitely stay there again. I am thinking of staying with my daughter and granddaughter in late July.

Everyone at the main office was very nice and helpful, the room was comfy all the way down to the mattress and sheets. We felt right at home.

Nice stay for a motel. A step back in time when accustomed to the modern day hotels.

Location to Avon pier was perfect.Nice staff. Comfortable stay. No hair dryer in room which seems to be the new norm.

Excellent location near beach. Newly renovated room, though no lamps in room, only light was from the overhead ceiling fan or the bathroom light. Heatpump a/c unit above bed had a strange built-in wood frame surround that only allowed the air to blow directly onto your face when sleeping in the bed. Good location and walking to the beach.

Room was clean, check in was easy. But….we couldn’t control the temperature in our room so it was very stuffy and hot at night. Lights outside of our room stayed on all night so that was a pain. We ended up hanging a towel over the blinds to help dim the light at night. I recommend bringing a fan and a sleep mask if you’re staying here.

Parking for small utility trailer was great!

The property is older and single story but it was very clean and roomy for families. We would stay again if ever in the area. My only complaint is 1/3 of the beds was very squeaky.

Nice affordable place to stay at OBX for several day. No complaints ;-)
