This is a great hotel in a really good location in Valletta. We had a deluxe room with a terrace which was clean and very comfortable. Although the terrace faced onto the street the room was very quiet at night. The staff are very polite and helpful. Breakfast in the Grana restaurant was very good. The location of the hotel is excellent, within walking distance of all the sights in Valletta, 10 minutes or so from the bus terminal and only about 15 minutes from the Gozo ferry terminal. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I don't understand why they're writing that they're committed to sustainability and are eco-friendly - we were there 2 nights and got our bed sheets changed and towels changed (we did NOT leave them on the floor), also cleaner threw away the soap bar that we used once and left a new one... Unbelievable... The cleaner has also misplaced the things around the room, like I found a toothpaste inside my backpack in the room (?). The property is nice, but worn out in many places. Our room was on 1st floor and was it was loud - from 7am we could not sleep as the phone was constantly ringing at the reception and the staff was going around cleaning and preparing breakfast - there is completely no isolation at the door. The double bed felt nothing like 5 star hotel bed - very small and not too comfortable. The staff is very friendly and super polite, the location of the place is great.

Staff were very helpful, location was fantastic, breakfast was excellent ( no need for lunch) Room modern and well cleaned , found the pillows too thick. That was the only negative point.

Nice rooms nice location the only real downside that I saw was that they did not have a fitness room.

Great location in Valletta, wonderful suite with balcony, great shower, comfy bed and quiet despite all the hustle and bustle. Close to bus depot, shopping center, St John Co Cathedral and major attractions. Free water bottle daily and wonderful free breakfast. Rough towels, poor tea and coffee options, slow elevator, limited TV channels.

Amazing small hotell in central Valetta. Large room, quiet and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff! Breakfast ordered from the restaurants menu, included in our stay. Always tasty, fresh food/coffee and with very friendly and attentive servers. We were 2 adults and 1 teenager in the suite, with sofabed upstairs. Perfect solution for us instead of 2 rooms. Can definitely recommend!

This was our first time in Malta and therefore our first time at The Cumberland Hotel. This is a lovely hotel, situated in the heart of Valletta. It is very close to shops and restaurants and places of interest, such as churches and museums. All of the staff we came into contact with at the hotel, receptionists, housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, were very friendly, polite and professional. Two of the reception staff stood out to us, they are Juliana and Zsanett, both of these receptionists were very helpful to us during our stay. The room was beyond our expectations, it was clean and tidy and very spacious. We booked a deluxe suite with a terrace and city view and we were not disappointed. Our stay included breakfast, there was a variety of items on the menu to choose from which catered to all tastes. The restaurant is situated on the ground floor of the hotel, the food was cooked fresh and was delicious. We ate at the restaurant every morning and on a couple of evenings. During Maltese bank holidays it is advisable to book a table at the restaurant if you want to eat there. It is a popular restaurant because of the good food and great service. I can definitely recommend The Cumberland Hotel as a place to stay in Malta.

Everything is exactly same as photos shown in the reservation site! Modernly decorative and bedding is also comfortable. Welcome cookies are lovely and staff are very kind. The hotel is located at slanted street but unlike other streets no steps so easy to rolling the carriers. Breakfast is outstanding. It's not buffet style but order base from the menu, and tastes and amounts are so great. I love and highly recommend this hotel!

Positives: great location, wonderful staff, and extraordinary breakfast. Negatives: rooms that face the courtyard get significant noise from people using the elevator, despite a sign at the elevator cautioning them to be quiet.

Services at this hotel was exceptional, whether at front desk or at the restaurant. Santiago at the reception deserves special mention. He was very helpful, professional and accommodating. Loved the deco. Centralized location, very convenient. Restaurant was excellent. Had dinner there everyday.

A lovely Boutique hotel. Pleasantly surprised by the size of the room, like a suite really. Plenty of space for two. All the main tourist attractions were within walking distance. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean. If I had to pick anything I’d say the pillows were like a puffed up balloon and I wanted to poke a needle through them to let out the air so I could get comfortable! Apart from that it was a great!

Fantastic stay. Amazing helpful staff. It was such a nice area and the room was a welcome haven when we wanted to have a good rest in the lovely atmosphere.

Accessibility to Valletta

This hotel is perfect for those that like exploring rather then lounging by a pool. Perfectly situated in the centre of Valletta you are just a short stroll from several historic sites of interest and countless fabulous restaurants, including the one in the hotel, which serves up not only fantastic breakfasts but amazing evening meals also. If you want to explore further the Valletta waterfront is close by with access to the Gozo ferry and crossings across the harbour to the ancient cities. The Valletta bus station is close by too with easy routes all over the island, we visited Mdina (a definite must see) and Mosta using the buses. Overall this hotel is ideal for a stay in Valletta, the staff were very friendly and helpful, highly recommended.

Loved the hotel, it's location and hospitality!

Center location with cafes, shops and views of the bay right outside the door. Easy walk to all major attractions in town. Hotel staff are very friendly, especially manager Cole who gave us many good restaurant recommendations. Our junior suite is well appointed and very quiet. The hotel has a very good restaurant too and portions are ample. Breakfast comes with many tasty choices but service pace is a bit slow. If you are in a hurry in the morning,stick with simple baking goods.

Excellent position, helpful staff and all round good hotel experience. Would certainly recommend!

Spacious room with comfortable bed. The bathroom was compact and would have benefited from being larger. Noise could be heard in the room late evening and early morning which impeded a good night's sleep. The room needed some tlc - the deadlock on the room door didn't work, being misaligned with the frame. There was some cosmetic damage to the internal walls which looked bad but would have been relatively easy to repair. Also, found ants on the floor on several occasions. Overall the hotel was sold as 5 star but felt 4 star at best.

Best location possible. Close to all main attraction, public transport, cafes and restaurants. The room was clean, comfortable and big. It seemed renovated not long ago and had everything we needed, even slippers and iron and iron board which I am not that used to any more unfortunately. The beds were very comfortable and clean. The electronic equipment was new and the interior design was pleasant. We were not bothered by noise despite our central location. Breakfast was good. Every staff we encountered regardless position and responsibilities were polite, professional, attantive and very helpful. We felt welcome and comfortable. Definately recommend and would not even bother looking for another hotel should I have the pleasure to visit Valletta again :)

The staff was so kind and helpful. The property is conveniently located and is on a pedestrian street just a half block from where taxis can drop off. The restaurant staff were amazing and attentive, the food was delicious and freshly made. I was very impressed, especially for the value.

The hotel is in an excellent location, the staff are extremely professional and the breakfast is lovely. The cleanliness of our room was superb. I would definitely stay here again if visiting Valletta.
