The room is in terrible condition. Floors, desk, tiles in bathroom, nearly every surface was sticky...bad. My wife thinks it's from what they clean with. Unknown. Sloped floors, dirty bathroom grout, no light in shower. Poor lighting in the bathroom. Old, old and needs updating. Bed was good. But the rest, blah. Oh and the doorknob fell off when we pulled it...pretty much sums it up.

Stayed here one night as part of a long trip, just another stopping point. Was excited to NOT be in a chain hotel and happy to experience a 200-year-old property. It really is like an antiquated inn in some ways -- no TV or hairdryer (but there was a mini-fridge). On the other hand, totally modern contact-less check-in and out. Actually kind of weirdly impersonal for such an intimate environment. I would have loved to have had a conversation with owners or otherwise learned more history of the place. Room was cute, spacious, and fun, clearly hipster-owned, bed very comfortable. The main draw is the restaurant, which was very good. Dogs stay free, a rare treat, and are welcome at restaurant on front porch, which has heat lamps, but wear layers as mountain nights are cool. It's definitely a nice find in the Adirondacks.

Easy check in. Room was comfortable and clean. Really liked the record player in the room. We did not have dinner this time, but the restaurant is quite popular and the food is always very nice.

The room was hotter than Haiti and the little window ac didn't coolit much. Not sure if there was a fire we would survive.

There was an extra sitting room. The place was clean and the bed was comfortable. The contactless check in was very smooth. Convenient location and the food at the restaurant was excellent!

I can tell you if you stay here avoid room #3. We arrived after a very long day around 9:30pm and walked into the bathroom of our room to find the toilet was leaking onto the floor and constantly running. I texted the owner who didn’t respond right away so we used towels and dried the floor and I tried to fix the bulb in the back of the toilet so the sound would stop .
We then went to bed shortly afterwards only to be awaken by what I believe was the kitchen staff of the restaurant around midnight being really loud for the next 30 minutes or so. It sounded like their work night was over and they were just hanging out in the kitchen area which was right underneath us. We were exhausted to the point of just wishing for quietness. It was around that same time the toilet starting running again which it then did on and off every 30 seconds or so the rest of the night making all kinds of loud and interesting sounds. We closed the door to the bathroom but could still hear it.
So one would think this has to be the end to this nightmare but no I wouldn’t want to forget that we were suddenly awoken to the sounds of a large dog barking in the room next to us (where a full time tenant lives ) at 6:30 am!! We had enough at this point so we packed our bags and left around 7:15 am. This 10 hour nightmare is available for the price of $210.00 including taxes and fees. I did reach out to the owner after we left yesterday explaining everything that happened and he did not respond.

Beautiful historic inn! We loved all the books and albums! Having a grocery store next door was convenient. Elizabethtown was a short drive to other towns and hiking trails. We loved the beauty of the region and hope to return!

I didn’t really interact with any staff or really anyone as I was out mountain climbing all day and went straight to the room and didn’t leave until I checked out. I did like the contactless check in. You can go straight to your room upon arrival. I was also happy to see a private bathroom in my room. I’m sure it was mentioned in the listing but with small inns like this sometimes that’s not the case.

Arrived on a Saturday night and there was a very lively crowd, live music, and food. I was really just looking for a place to rest when booking here and it was good for that. Everything quited down by around 10:30-11. You can hear everything outside of the room so much as a cough down stairs. There was no secondary lock on the door. The furniture and bedding was slightly stained. The hot water takes about 5 minutes to get to the room. There is no breakfast here and it was difficult to find a breakfast spot in the area. All of that said this is a good place to stay for someone whos looking to dance, drink and crash. Not ideal for a great nights rest.

A historic property in a rural community. Thankfully, the restaurant is excellent, not only for the food, but as there is literally NO other option in town, less a tiny deli/pizzeria and prepackaged food from a nearby grocery and a gas station. The room was spacious, and the bath had been updated. Overall, very satisfactory.

As advertised, this is a unique, quirky inn. However, it was more “rustic” than pictured - small, almost unfinished bathroom, and very thin walls. Biggest complaint is that listing advertised that it had bar/cafe/restaurant. None of these were open and neither was any of the two or three options in this tiny town. We contacted the owner and he suggested we drive 10 miles down the road to a small pub. It was fortunately open, however out of several items as they were nearing the end of the season. We had driven all day and had looked forward to a nice dinner. Inn is decent if you are not expecting much. Did not earn the rating you gave it.

Charming building. Room was very spacious and clean.while the building was one of the oldest in the town, the bathroom was completely modern and I loved it!

You can hear everything through the walls. Hair stuck in the towels and shower. Let owners know. The towels appeared clean but still.. hair. No other linens available in room. No clean towels offered.

This place is so cool! Listening to Jethro Tull’s greatest hits on the record player and reading brings me back to child hood cottage days! Super easy to find and very cool decor! Love it!

It was a great place to stay. We had a huge room. Our dogs were comfortable. The food in the restaurant below was exceptional. This is no Holiday Inn but staying a quaint historical old fashion Inn it is.

Really lovely spot to stay if you're looking for a more affordable Lake Placid option! Nice mattress and pillows, big spacious bathroom, only a window unit for AC though so be prepared, it was very hot when we stayed. Responsive staff too.

I stayed at the Deer's Head Inn during a weekend of enjoying the World University Winter Games in Lake Placid. The price was good for an inn near Lake Placid. The room was very clean, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and the shower worked well, but it was more spartan than the room shown in the picture. The extra touches like the herbal soaps and coffeemakers were nice. The Inn has an interesting atmosphere, like a mix of Germany and Woodstock. The lack of places to get breakfast in Elizabethtown is a bit of a problem, but the diners in Keene Valley and wide variety of restaurants in Lake Placid are only 15-20 minutes away. The dinner menu at the Inn looked good, but I had dinner in Lake Placid that night. I would consider staying at the Deer's Head Inn again when I travel to the Lake Placid area on my own, and maybe enjoy the books and LP records next time.
