The staff are so helpful and kind. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fridge and microwave! Short (2 min) walk to beach access. Will be back again!

This is a refurbished older hotel and they have done a really nice job with the style. Doors to the outside are the same which makes them a little noisy to the outside with people walking. Great location right across from the beach. We had a glorious view! The beds are comfortable too. Only complaint is the lighting in the bathroom above the sink is very dim.

Beautiful place! Newly remodeled...beautiful! They didnt miss anything! Binoculars sitting on the table for your viewing pleasure..and a complimentary basket of local treats that we delightful!

This was a really nice hotel and we plan on going back. Everything looked clean, fresh, and new. The only downfall was the breakfast truck which was expensive for what they offered.

Wow. The Whaler has stepped their game up. Top to bottom remodel. The staff was super friendly. The one lady even gave us some water and salt water taffy at checkout for our drive back. Great location across the street from the beach. Walking distance to the harbor and NYE beach. Wish we stayed longer. Will be back for sure

Room was in very good condition rare for the Oregon coast. Nice ocean view and easy access to the beach. Walking distance to some great restaurants in downtown Nye Beach. The new construction will only make it better.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and updated. We enjoyed seeing the ocean from the balcony and whale watching. We also enjoyed the beach.

i went to the office to find out where i could smoke on the property! night clerk was very disrespectful! i was told as a smoker i would have to go out to the road to have a smoke !Later that evening i did that and she came out of her office and told me to move over to the next road as there was a food truck in the parking lot and i needed to move down the block away from the propane ! Note !this was 11:00 at night ! food truck was there to serve breakfast sandwiches ! no propane tanks were on ! The requested location. was across the street on a public road ! i felt extremely vulnerable with the foot traffic in the area!

Spectacular location next to the beach leads to beautiful views from the room. Staff very helpful. Only negative is a very tight parking lot.

This property is under major construction and eventually will be a beautiful place to stay. I was told it was being renovated and believed it was on the ocean. It is not and there is a street with houses that obstructs the ocean view from the 1st floor where we had to be due to traveling with our dogs. Probably has a better view of ocean from 2nd and 3rd floors. Due to this, we were placed at their sister property the Hallmark just down the street which is ocean front and views of ocean from 1st floor. Our stay there was great - even had nice area for the dogs. (The Whaler did not have area for the dogs however maybe they will once it is completed.) Because of this fact, we will more than likely stay again at the Hallmark.

I have stayed in many places and this by far was the best!

Loved the staff, amenities, and location. We really felt like they take pride in the cleanliness of the hotel, staff were always wiping down surfaces or windows, and everyone was incredibly helpful and friendly. We will happily stay here again and look forward to seeing the whaler once the rest of the construction is complete. We did have a few small nitpicks, 1 is there is no chain or similar device on the door, just the normal lock and a deadbolt. I get it probably doesn't add a whole lot but it would have made us feel a little better and it seemed weird it wasn't there. Another is that there's no way to cool the room off other than opening windows/ vents to the outdoors, but when we did this we would get bugs especially at night. Some type of screening over the doors or windows so we can enjoy the breeze in peace without worry would have been nice. Also the seal on the entry door wasn't great and a lot of light came in at night and we could hear the wind whistling under the door whenever it blew (which was a lot).

Great property. Beautiful views of the ocean. Very clean. Pool and hot tub were wonderful. We really appreciate all the hospitality and cuye wlecome basket and departure goodie bag.

Wonderful experience at the this hotel. Awesome location right by the beautiful sand beach, plus a great view from the balcony. The amenities were fabulous… loved the hot tub, sauna, breakfast truck, balconies, snack baskets- all of it! Super friendly staff and one of the cleanest, best kept properties I’ve stayed in. Would 100% recommend and stay again.

Beautiful hotel on the beach in Newport. Very convenient to restaurants and shopping. Checkin was quick and easy, and the staff was very friendly. All the rooms have a balcony that looks out at the beach, with stunning sunsets each night. Would definitely stay here again!

Great view and proximity to the ocean. Pool, hot tub, sauna and gym were all newer and well-kept.

Our second stay at this location. We like the room, and the location of the hotel. One minor hiccup was at check in, the front desk person did not greet or acknowledge me, I stood there for 15 mins while she was typing away. Came to find out that she assumed that I was with the other party, and did not bother to ask and confirm her assumption. Once that terrible interaction completed, we got our room and was able to enjoy the place.
