Excellent property with a great central location , rooms are big and clean , everything you would expect from the Marriott brand , but the staff and service is terrible . We decided to spend Labor Day weekend with our friends for a quick get away and had two rooms on the same floor , at night we were all hanging out in our room and we had two very large intimidating of the staff members knock on our door and shout at me saying if we didn’t keep it down we would be thrown out . Now maybe we were loud but i think a phone call to the room would have been sufficient instead of sending two large security personals shouting at the guests . I complained to the manager at duty who agreed with me that this was not protocol to Handel such situations but i never heard from anyone after .

Aside from the staff that checked us in, the customer service was not good at all. The restaurant was slow and understaffed (although the food was great) and the employee at loaf & vine was rude. It felt a bit like we were doing them a favor for being there.

Lots of street noise making it almost impossible to sleep which is no fault to the hotel itself. Parking is a little ridiculous and expensive. Nice pool, but super packed.

First time we stayed here and we really liked the location, the poo and the vibe of the hotel. Alice was great on check in and we had a great room with pool and lake views.

best hotel in downtown

Overall, the Marriott Downtown is a great place to stay! Comfortable, clean and quiet. Feels and looks upscale. However I will say that perhaps the front door and security staff should practice a bit more actual "security". While I was there on a Saturday afternoon about 3 PM, a tall heavyset woman wearning nothing but a blue skimpy bra and blue skimpy panties, walked through the front door and slowly walked through the lobby playing with her phone. Like, really inappropriate dressed and it was IMO, disgusting to have to see someone like that way underdressed allowed in the hotel lobby. I mean, yes she was probably going to the pool area on the 7th floor, but my God. Cover up your body! No one wants to see your naked ugly body in your underwear wandering in through the lobby! I brought it to the attention of a staff member later on and he apologized profusely, and told me he would tell the security staff and door men.

My wife and I loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The hotel was within walking distance of a lot of activities and a lot of restaurants. The view from the room was great.

Clean, people were friendly. 60 bucks for parking is excessive.

The staff and restaurant were wonderful, very accommodating. Wifi was a little spotty, but everything else was perfect.

Clean. Did not like welcome as my husband is a life time gold member and daughter who checked in with her husband just prior to my husband checking in received more drink coupons while my husband was offered nothing. They did not even offer to look up his Marriott rewards number. He had to go back in to get them to do that and then got one drink coupon. Not impressed. The price for the stat was very high.

Im gonna be honest that this Marriot was way more than my expectations!!! Staff is sooo nice and soooo helpful.. place is beautiful.. food is amazing .. the market place they have there, their coffe is better than any other coffe around the area. Is walking distance to any place I want to go .. gym is great .. pool is amazing .. I stayed 5 nights and I already want to go back .. even the room service was great !!! I am really happy with this hotel !

Great place to stay!

Our stay was great for a last minute trip on a holiday. The room had a beautiful view and I thought the pillow spray was such a unique touch. The only downside was we purchased breakfast with our room. We asked the front desk where it would be and she told us the restaurant. The next morning we went to the restaurant and told the host we had purchased breakfast and he said that it is usually upstairs in a separate room but sat us anyway and said he would talk to the manager. We order our food and when the waitress asks how we’d like to pay we explain again that we had already purchased. She gets a manager who we explain everything too and he agrees to take care of the bill since we didn’t order anything excessive. About twenty minutes after checking out I notice the charge on my card for the breakfast! Save yourself the money and don’t pay for it in advance!

Definitely worth the price. It’s a 5-10m walk to 6th street.

Great staycation for our young family of four.

The hotel room was nice with a great view in central downtown Austin. My only complaint was that I wasn’t able to get the breakfast I paid for on the day of checkout, but they comped $50 from my room service. Apparently there’s a breakfast buffet in the lounge, but I wasn’t at the right level to get inside.

Staff made us uncomfortable kept asking for a way for us to tip them cash app , Venmo, even told us to do a review so they could get 25 bucks on their next check.
