It has a million dollar ocean view and solid bones, but either the owners and / or vacation rental company have scrimped so much on the things that actually impact your stay to the point where it significantly negatively impacts the experience. Given the price per night, I expected beds with comfortable mattresses, for there to be real beds and not squeaky old futons, and for the kitchen to have functional more modern appliances. On our first day there the old fridge didn’t work, causing some of the food we brought to need to be thrown away to avoid food poisoning. The rental company was kind and responsive in bringing out a mini fridge, but this could be fixed long term by investing in upgrading failing elements of the kitchen (a new fridge of this quality costs $400– a small fraction of the cost of my 4 night stay). They gave us not enough toilet paper for our stay, and it was truly the cheapest brand out there. It reminded me of staying at a $15/night hostel in Mexico. Additionally, it’s not safe for kids under 8 or so since it has wall heaters that get hot and cannot be touched. One of the two rooms is a loft that pictures well but it means that whoever is sleeping up there cannot go to bed until everyone else is ready to go to sleep and turn out the lights. Lastly, the contract they sent said absolutely no dogs so I spent hundreds on boarding my dog only to arrive at a house that had a sign inside saying it was pet friendly.

The house we rented is a nice, spacious house perfect for four vacationers. It is located in a quiet and nice hilltop area of Manzanita. We had a great tie the house is outfitted with everything you might need for a multi day stay. What would be a great addition / enhancement to the overall perfect place is a hot tub on the deck. We loved the place and hope to come back in the summer.

By far our favorite Manzanita rental (on our 3rd trip to the area). Even in the rain, the view of the sea was soothing. The interior spaces are very comfortable, the kitchen extraordinarily well equipped, the beds and bedding and bath linens top quality. We planned to walk to town, but didn`t (heavy rain). The one clear day we enjoyed the trails and beaches in Nehalem Bay State Park and West Oswald State Park as well as Manzanita beach. This review was submitted while the home was managed by a different property management company.

The site is peaceful with many distinct seating areas and a lovely yellow rose growing at the front door. The coffee maker was unique but there is also a French press and we used both. There are interior stairs and a wood stove so not a place for young children but it was a perfect place for the two of us. This was our second stay and we will return. We had a wonderful dinner at The Big Wave Cafe and an amazing breakfast at Wanda’s in Nehalem. Other favorites were closed on Monday and Tuesday.

The kind size bed was incredibly comfortable, the deep soaking tub was luxurious, the linens (if mainly IKEA) were bright white, all cotton and so lovely. The house/kitchen is well stocked with items one might need and yet clutter free. Everything was spotlessly clean. Be aware that the beach is a steep 8 minute walk. The hike was good exercise for the adults, a bit of a stretch for our two year old, but all in all a welcome bonus for the paranoid as it sits firmly out of the tsunami evacuation zone. The exposed wood architecture is beautiful and there’s a view of the ocean from the living room and a bit from the dining room as well. I highly recommend!

We loved our stay at double happiness. The house is light and bright with a nice open feel. It’s tucked up in a quiet corner of manzanita and was very peaceful. There’s a beautiful view of the ocean from the living room and yard. The kitchen is small but worked great and was well stocked with everything we needed. The bathrooms are okay. The master only had a tub with hand held showerhead. The upstairs bath is tiny! But the shower in that bath was nice.

The kitchen has everything you need in terms of cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. The bed in the master bedroom is exceptionally comfortable. We didn't like the bathtub with its wand shower. Water goes everywhere. It isn't a good design in our opinion. If you want to use the grill bring your own matches. The built in igniter doesn't work. We had a very relaxing time in a very quiet setting. There is an excellent view of the beach out of the picture window. The house is located about a 5 minute drive from the beach.

The location is phenomenal, as we love being able to walk to the beach and restaurants in "downtown" Manzanita. I spent many hours in a comfy chair facing the ocean as I worked on a project. The only drawback is lack of privacy and bathroom in the loft, but that's the nature of the house. The lack of air conditioning was never a problem as there are plenty of screened windows, but if you're cooking be sure to bring your own spices. Much happiness to be enjoyed at Double Happiness.

Some of the house appears to have recently been renovated but the bathrooms were a little dated. The view of the ocean was a very nice surprise! Walking to town is quite easy if you like to walk, it’s quite a hike down to the beach with distance and hills.
