Great spot, simple but clean and easy….

This was a true vintage motel redone to perfection! Loved the look and feel. Location was perfect beach was right there and all the restaurants and little shops so close . Plan to stay here again !

Great place to stay, be aware that because of its proximity to nearby clubs it can be a bit noisy at night. I was late to check in so they kindly called me and arranged for me to be able to get into my room easily. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the stay. However, no maid service during the stay, which is fine I just was not aware. Main complaint, did not want to deduct stars for it, but the shower curtain liner is too big and bulky and takes up part of the shower space. I am grossed out by shower curtain liners (they never look clean unless they are brand new), and do not like them touching me while showering, which was hard to avoid because of the liner being thick, stiff, and too long. All they need to do is raise the shower curtain bar and get liners that are not so stiff. I realize this is probably not something most people would care much about, but I thought I would mention it for those of us with bathroom/germ issues. Everything else was really great - clean, lovely decor, bikes for customers to use!

The upsides- right by the beach and parking is right there. In walking distance to restaurants and shops. Motel is really cute, beds are comfy and the shower is nice. The downsides- it's hard to find anyone who works there if you need anything, like towels. There is no full time office person or housekeeping so you are pretty much on your own.

updated, very very clean, comfortable beds, nice personal shampoo products. Just a heads up - Air conditioner is a window unit. Works well, but it is noisy if you're not used to a window unit and it either gets very cold or hot, hard to control, but that's the nature of window units. Great location, close to beach, great parking lot for one car. No closet, but there is a coat trees to hang your stuff.

Loved the surf shanty motel. Super cute clean updated rooms. So close to the beach. No issues with noise. Manager Andre was super nice and helpful.

Weekend trip. Stayed in a first floor room. Room was very clean. Beds were comfortable. The a/c had trouble cooling the room the first 2 nights. They placed a dehumidifier in the room and the last night the a/c did just fine, room was nice and cool. Would recommend this hotel and definitely will stay here again on my next trip to Dewey.

Great location. Very clean and property is well kept. The renovations look great. I would stay here again. I stayed previously when it was The Bell Buoy Inn.

The motel rooms are clean and quiet. Location is a two minutes walk from the beach. Using the beach cruisers made is fun and convenient to get around. Andre the onsite manager is great and available to answer any questions. Had a great stay and plan to book again for an end of summer stay.

The surf shanty was the best place for a little weekend getaway. It had the best location to the beach, easy walk with all of your chairs, beach toys and umbrella. Also walkable to all the great restaurants and shops, as well as the bay! The staff were super kind and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. I will absolutely be staying there again and recommending it to all my friends and family.

We love this place! It was our second time staying this year June 2024 and it was just a great as the last time. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. We love how close it is to the beach, It’s like a 2 minute walk. There’s an ice maker up stairs and bikes that can be used too. The product choices they make in their room seem sustainable and/or eco friendly and they even have clean beauty products!

Room was clean. Convenient to the beach. Manager was super friendly. Only complaint was the light coming in the wood slate blinds all night long.

The quality was great especially for the price. I stayed with my two children and the room was perfect for our needs. We were away from the party scene enough to have a kid friendly stay, but close enough to walk to any major bar, restaurant, and the beach. While there weren't a lot of extravagant amenities, the staff was extremely polite and helpful. They even had a few cool perks to offer- bikes, discounts at the shop, etc. Overall it was a great experience and perfect for what we needed. I would stay again.

The Surf Shanty Hotel was perfection! Property has a great design aesthetic, from flowers to bikes to room numbers and mural. This place is awesome. The rooms are incredibly clean and follow the color story throughout. We loved perusing surf and beach books, the vintage art, the pops of aqua and orange. There is an ice machine and outdoor shower, both great conveniences. The additional touch of coordinating bikes free of charge and steps to the ocean are the best part. We loved our stay and highly recommend to anyone in the area!

We had a great stay at Surf Shanty. The manager was super accommodating. The rooms are adorable. Very clean and vintage beach themed. Only thing I would like to see added is a coffee pot.

Surprisingly up to date, clean, and quiet!

Great place to stay! Andre the manager is super hospitable, helpful, and welcoming. The room was very clean, neat, updated, quiet and near the beach. Our timing was great for weather and wasn't too busy yet for the summer season. .

Very cute nice hotel with nice simple attractive rooms. The only issue we had was the room was terribly humid . There was a dehumidifier but it didn’t really work. The humidity was very low outside and only 75 outside so it had nothing to do with external conditions . It was my only negative but it was a significant one.

This was the second time we have stayed at The Surf Shanty. The property itself was renovated a couple years ago and is beautiful inside and out! The property is maintained on a daily basis and was very clean! Beach access is only 500’ from the Motel and dining is a short walk. The only issue we had was poor water pressure coming from the shower head. When brought to the Property Manager Andre’s attention, he graciously offered to move us to another room. We only had one night remaining, so we declined the offer. We highly recommend this Motel for families or couples alike.

We loved our stay at the Surf Shanty Motel! The room was impeccably clean and adorably decorated! It was located on a quiet street just a quick walk to the beach. Perfectly close to easily pop back to the room or car! Andre, the manager, was so friendly and kind, very attentive to our needs, and made our vacation even nicer!

The property looks brand new and the rooms are extremely comfortable and well put together with great decor and conveniences. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Just steps from beach and Dewey Post across the street.
