Great property for a relaxing vacation.

We had a great time at splash of a lime. It was our first time on the 4x4 beach and we will be back after staying here.

We are seasoned VRBO vacationers. This home was the cleanest that we have ever stayed in. The house was in perfect condition. No wobbley tables, broken drawers, rusty beach chairs, etc. The owner genuinely seems to want you to enjoy his property and your vacation. He helped us with some transportation issues that we had and saved us an entire day of travel. As for the location, we have never been to the Outer Banks or a 4X4 beach. We drive a regular SUV and had no trouble figuring out the air in the tires and navigating the sand. We saw horses everyday. This beach has beautiful white sand and the water is clear. It really isn't as remote as one of the other comments suggested. It is maybe a bit of a hassle to deflate and air you tires, but there are plenty of places to put air in your tires for free. We made a list and grocery shopped once and went in for a meal and shopping on another afternoon. If you have any hesitations about booking this location, I highly recommend staying here. This was one of the best vacation weeks that we have had.

House was immaculate. Owner was exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We had such an amazing time getting away and enjoying the peace and quiet. You feel like you’re on island perfectly secluded from the rest of the world. It is unlike anywhere else in OBX.

Our family had a wonderful stay! We loved the remoteness of the house and the easy walk to the beach. The heated pool was perfect even though it was a chilly week. We can't wait to return!

The home enabled us to enjoy our stay in the Outer Banks. We were unfamiliar with the area and the 4X4 beach driving, but love learning new things. The weather was not the best, but with the comforts of the home, we were had a relaxing time playing games, enjoying the hot tub and binge watching TV. The place is quite clean. And I am very picky about that. So thank you for ensuring a comfortable stay.

We absolutely love staying at this property! It was so clean and had everything we needed! Also, communication was awesome. Will definitely stay again.

Splash of Lime was an excellent choice for our small family including the dog. The home was clean and spacious. We stayed primarily on the main level but the property could have easily housed a second family comfortably and with privacy. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. Loved being able to drive to the beach and we did see horses!! Marty was a fantastic host and made it known from the beginning he was a call or text away. Having gone off season we understood the changes of bad weather.. When there was news of TS Ophelia headed our way, Marty text us updates on the tides and weather to make sure we were up to speed on the conditions. We have never had such open communication with past rentals which was never a big deal but being in a remote location it was reassuring. We look forward to returning again! 5/5

What a great stay we had over New Years 2024! Marty is very easy to work with and responsive to any questions. House has all you need! Open areas, nice size bedrooms, well stocked kitchen and even kitchen extras such as an Air Fryer! Highly recommend staying here. Horses walked right by one morning!

This is a lovely home and extremely clean. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Marty was very informative and provided helpful information and clear communications prior to our stay. We would highly recommend this home.

The house itself is LOVELY, spacious, clean and perfect for multi person privacy. The neighborhood was great… sand roads, right off the beach, horses wandering about. Just incredible. I will say, we were there OFF SEASON, and there are many (Large) homes there in the neighborhood with quite a bit of new construction happening, so I don’t really know what this place might be like mid summer. (Likely quite fun for social folks!) The host was super! Very communicative and responsive! The house has everything you could need to cook in. The beach ride was fun, AND, if you’re not an adventurer at heart…stop in advance of the 4x4 beach to do your grocery shopping. We didn’t end up utilizing the pool or hot tub, but they looked great as well! can’t say enough about Splash Of Lime!!

This was perfect for our family which included our fur babies. It was their first time to the beach. So the short walk to the beach and many road areas to walk was perfect. Perfect getaway!! The house was beautiful and had everything we needed and then some. Highly recommend this property and Marty was great! We appreciate you sharing your home with us! Thank you!

We absolutely loved every minute! This place was just lovely! Beautiful, clean and a total hidden gem - just secluded enough that we could really enjoy nature/the setting and really relax! It was even more beautiful than the pictures, and upon arrival was so clean and welcoming - even for a germaphobe and clean freak like myself, I was really impressed! The horses came right to the house several times and we were able to quietly observe and enjoy them from the houses raised decks - we got some great photos/videos! The kids loved this! The owner was amazing, very helpful and always quick to reply with any questions we had. We also really appreciated the little touches the owner added to our stay. We truly appreciate the chance to stay here and hope we can return in the future!

I can’t say enough about this place. It is so beautiful and so clean. Marty is the best host I have ever experienced! I will definitely stay again and again!!!!

There was nothing not to love. The guys loved driving their trucks and fishing on the beach…so much so that the rest of us didn’t get a chance to drive. The dogs loved that there were no time restrictions for them to be on the beach. We all loved the secluded location. The house was perfect. We had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The rooms were cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed the front and back decks. ( where we could safely observe the horses) There were so many games to choose from and a spacious table to sit around. Added bonuses were the washer and dryer, the hot tub, and pool. Marty was wonderful at communicating with us prior to our stay. We can’t wait to return to Splash of Lime!

This house was one of the cleanest houses that we have rented. We are sticklers about cleanliness. I am usually never satisfied with the check-in cleaning; as a result, I usually have to clean a place as soon as we check-in. But, I did not have to do that with this house. Marty is an excellent owner! He responds back immediately before and during your stay at his house. He is very congenial, helpful, and responsive. We had a wonderful week at his house. We loved the house, the beach, and the location. Thank you, Marty!

Property was clean and in new condition, house has clearly been taken care of, and was well-stocked with board games, and kitchenware. Marty was quick to respond, certainly plan on continuing to do business with him and will book this location in the future. House is in a great location and is the best of many properties we've booked in OBX the past few years.

We couldnt give more than enough stars for Splash of lime and Marty. The house was wonderful and check in was so so easy and the house was even ready way before the check in time and Marty let us know right away that we could get in then. We saw thw horses every day and out of the week we where there all but 2 days the horses werent in the front yard when we woke up. Marty has everything there and more, games,every type of cooking appliance you could ever need. The pool was a big hit as well as the hot tub. The kids loved having a smart tv in there room so they could watch all the Bluey they wanted. We would like to give a big thank you to Marty for a wonderful week at his beach house and we will sure book many more times with him at either one of his properties.

We enjoyed 2 wonderful weeks in Carover in Marty‘s house, enjoying the space, the pool and hot tub and for sure the beach. We cooked a lot in the very well equipped kitchen. It turned out that the location of the house on the second raw is more silent and less busy then the ones in the first raw direct behind the dunes. but we saw the horses around the house nearly every second day! We may plan to come back and we can really recommend this house!

Lovely, clean accommodations! The ocean is just around the corner & you can park on the beach. Then cool off in the pool with toys for the kids. Just be aware that 9 miles is a LONG & BUMPY BEACH DRIVE so make sure you've brought everything you need including tons of bottled water (the house uses well water). You will see wild horses every day: on the dunes, along the shore, even in your back yard so don't pay for a tour. Enjoy!

We had a great stay at Splash of Lime. The house was lovely, and it was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies (crockpot, blender, etc.). Marty was very responsive with any questions, and we would highly recommend staying.

We had a wonderful time in Carova!! The trip in was spicy due to unusual tide ….. be sure to understand how to get to cottage!! The map apps do not send you the way you should go to get there the easiest…. Really understand the sand travel. We got stuck on soft sand because tide very high and we could not pass the house on beach. Also!!’ Be sure to drive in with supplies- groceries etc. you will not want to turn around and go to store because a significant drive and tire air adjustment…After this, our trip was exactly what we needed. A nature refresh to all our senses. Wonderful weather. Our first sighting of the horses was right under the house! Wonderful. And our doggies LOVED it! The beach the house all of it!

We really enjoyed our stay at A Splash of Lime. The house is lovely – clean and comfortable with lots of room to spread out – the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and there are tvs in most - or maybe even every - bedroom. Every morning we had our coffee outside on either the front or back deck. There is a heated pool (necessary if you go off-season in April like we did) and a private hot tub where our family spent a lot of time. At one point the pool heater had an error message, and Marty was extremely responsive and had his maintenance person come to the house and address it asap. Speaking of the host, Marty was very informative and responsive, and he answered text messages right away. I had read that in other people’s reviews and they were spot on. So what else can I say about the ‘experience’ of staying here? Where else do you air down your tires and drive 9 miles on the beach to get to your destination, see wild horses roaming on the beach and around the property where you are staying? My kids will always remember this vacation, it was such a unique experience to stay in this part of the Outer Banks. It requires some pre-planning because if you forget something it’s a drive to get back to the grocery/liquor store/pharmacy, etc. But it’s totally worth it. If I had to do it all over I would stay here again.

Wonderful, clean property in quiet Carova. Responsive property manager. Took me back to going to North Duck in the late 70's.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our host, Marty! The house is new, very clean, and well-appointed. Marty was a great help in timing the tide to get up the 4-wheel drive beach as the low-pressure system left over from Hurricane Ian traveled up through the Carolinas. Marty kept tabs on us during our stay and even offered to bring back groceries from town if needed. Will definitely go back!

The house was amazing in every way, I’m already ready to go back!! The only thing I could say negative is i was told a 4-wheel drive was recommended not mandatory and got stuck and started my vacation $575 in the hole, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 4wheel drive to stay here !!

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A 4 Wheel Drive vehicle. We had a really nice week at Marty’s house. He thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed with lovely dishes, glasses, and all necessary appliances. There were great puzzles and games to play on our one rainy day. Too cold for the pool but it looked lovely. Hot tub was perfect. New grill, corn hole, swing and hammocks. Looking forward to our next visit.

The horses go by the house no need to trek them lol. So no pamphlets could really explain 4x4 beach or what off season really means…Yet, we had a fantastic time even on the cold days playing games inside and outside on the downstairs patio! I would’ve personally loved knowing the check out process as I stripped the linens we used and carried to laundry room not knowing what was needed to be done? We really enjoyed this lovely home that’s beyond remote and 4x4 is a must! Do stop in Kitty Hawk and get food, ice cream, and all the extras before you get all the way out here …trust me you’ll be happy you did! We saw 10 wild horses in 4 days (made the trip)!

Wow! What an amazing experience and host. The owner answered all questions we had very quickly, both before and during our trip. The property was exactly as described. I would give this property 100 stars if I could - I highly suggest anyone interested in driving on the beach, seeing wild horses and staying at an amazing property check this one out.

This was an ideal space for our two families and we all thoroughly enjoyed the home and the setting. Eating in was easy with the kitchen tools provided and the lovely open floor plan added to the enjoyment. Nothing more cool than driving “home” via the beach…well, maybe wild horses walking around the house was. Martin was an excellent host- communicated important details regularly and was super helpful and accommodating with all of our questions and requests.

The house was tastefully decorated and provided a fully stocked kitchen! We had 7 adults and 2 under 16. It was a great time spent with family over the Thanksgiving holiday. Marty was a great host! Very responsive to any questions! We will be back!!
