Nice hotel, friendly personnel and great surroundings.

Staying in a comfortable facility, offering a swimming pool as well as on-site quality F&B with different ambiances and right next to the Lüneburger Heide is quite unique. It is exceptional "Heide-in, Heide-out" experience.

We recently stayed at Hotel Hof Sudermühlen in Lüneburger Heide and I must say, it was a lovely experience. The hotel's location is absolutely breathtaking, surrounded by serene nature that truly allows you to unwind and relax. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially the waiters in the hotel restaurant who went above and beyond to make our dining experience extra special. The ambiance of the hotel was also very cozy and comfortable, making it the perfect retreat after a long day of exploring the beautiful surroundings. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful and enjoyable getaway.

Location is in the middle of a natural reserve, so amazing walks and runs to do.

We asked for a calm room and got set facing the parking. When opening up the window, we got the smell of the fryer of the kitchen. The walls are not well isolated, so we could hear our heavily snoring neighbor all night. The coffee was free at the breakfast, but a poorly tasting espresso cost 3,5€. A bottle of water costs 9€. The light in the bathroom was flickering, and the hair dryer did not work. The pillow was cheap and too thin, as are the bed mattress (too hard). There is no mobile connection at all, and the wifi was too weak to work properly in the bedroom. The swimming pool is very descent and also the sauna (a bit small) but clean and warm. Small surprise when you check out they charge 5€ extra per person for "energy cost"?!?! The service hospitality was rather poor and rough apart for a few foreigners working there who were very nice smiling and agreeable. There is no elevator for our rooms and floor. Many explicit religious references inside that seemed from another past century, not shocking or disturbing but not necessary either. Breakfast was descent, but often food was not available, and it took a while to get refueled.

The tranquility of this location is rarely found so close to a motorway. It is clearly a favourite with equestrians, but lesser mortals are also made to feel welcome ;-) Most rooms face east, which means they are not baking in the sun all day but stay cool even in the summer.
