We absolutely love staying at Fish. Tale. Everything about it was a pleasant surprise! The house was extremely clean, bright and sunny. We had three toddlers with us and certainly did not need to bring one toy! There is a wonderful area for play complete with toys, cars, books and building blocks. The house is located right across from Beach Access 17. It was easy for everyone to come and go. The outdoor shower with plenty of warm water was a major plus. It also serves to keep the house very clean.The kitchen is fabulous and well equipped. We loved spending our days at the beach and pools, and we loved coming home to Great family dinners and evenings at Fish Tale. Thank you for providing this fabulous property.

We had a fantastic stay at this property - I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be much more spacious and updated in the living areas than I was expecting. There were ample toys for the babies and young kids to play with, we didn't need to unpack any toys that we bought. I was expecting larger/newer golf carts, but the 2 4-seater carts did the job just fine! The kitchen was awesome, overall stay was fantastic. Just wish we would have booked longer!

We have stayed at BHI about a dozen times. This was the worst stay yet. For the price you pay, there should be no issues. First issue when we got there was the freezer. It had ice built up below the freezer so the door wouldn't shut. Water was melted all over the floor. Had to call maintenance and freezer couldn't be used. Next was main living room TV. No picture, only sound. Called maintenance. TV is not working and needs to be replaced. So we all as a family could not watch TV together. Everyone ended up in separate rooms to watch TV. Next, we were short towels and floor mats for some reason. Come to find out after 2 days, most of the hand towels, floor mats, kitchen towels were still in the dryer! Cleaniness was poor at best. All of our feet were black if walking around barefoot. Microwave needs replacing. Stove could only get to 350 and worked iintermittently. We ended up having to broil anything we put in there because the oven couldn't get hot enough. Needless to say, almost everything we needed to use or required had an issue. This was a BHI managed property and we will never use them again.

My family stayed at Fish Tale over Labor Day Weekend. The home was perfect for us! The amenities were great. There was a playroom for my daughter to use, a highchair, as well as multiple crib/pack and play options. The kitchen was fully stocked and easy to navigate. The distance to the beach was very manageable (less than a block) with access to beach chairs, towels and toys. Overall, a wonderful stay at a very nice home. Thank you!!

Great house, great weather!

This might be my favorite beach house ever! It's perfect for the big things like location, proximity to the beach, beds, and decor. But beyond that, there are so many small (and medium) details that make this place an absolute perfect vacation rental! The kitchen is super well stocked and the cabinets are labeled, making it easy to find things. The pantry and fridge even had a few essentials that saved us in a pinch. There's a pot of fresh basil and cilantro growing on the front porch with an invitation to water it when dry and clip some when needed for cooking! Love that so much! The games were well stocked and the different seating and table areas were perfect for games, puzzles, reading, napping, or just hanging out. There were tons of great beach toys, chairs, bikes, and other outdoor equipment, all well organized and labeled. The bathrooms came stocked with homemade bars of soap! Loved the sunrise porch and the oceanfront porch. Enjoyed the incredible views from all around. Thank you for a wonderful vacation home!

We really enjoyed our stay here! The location is great, just steps away from the beach. The house is super cute with lots of personalized touches. Everything you need is there. Kitchen is very well equipped. And everything is labeled which is super helpful. Our dog loved it too! We will be back!

The house, location, and views were wonderful. Kitchen was fully stocked. I would prefer a coffee pot to a Keureg though as they are so bad for the environment with the excess trash that is not recyclable. Also, beware of the neighbors black labrador retriever, he bit my daughter as she was riding her bike. It did put a big stressor on the trip but we didn't let it ruin it.

Fish Tale's is a wonderful place to stay!!! We were constantly impressed with the attention to all the details that were thought out and provided for on our trip. It is no surprised that Fish Tales is booked most of the year.

Everything was fantastic. Great layout for family hangout time. Two small negatives were poor water pressure and the plastic liner on the mattress made my back sweat while sleeping.

This property was a wonderful place to stay the week after my daughter’s wedding. Great location across from the beach. Cute beach cottage, fully equipped. The only minor problem was large palmetto bugs all over the house. Might need an exterminator to come spray. Other than that, perfect!

We spent the week before my daughter's wedding at Fish Tale. The house was perfect for 10 people. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was in a perfect location: close to the beach and close to the Bald Head Island club. We had great weather despite a forecast for thunderstorms every day. I thought the owners were very easy to communicate with, and they answered all my questions within a day. Thanks so much for sharing your house with us. I think we'll need to celebrate all of my daughter's anniversaries here.

A wonderful and welcoming home for a large family vacation. Many beautiful spaces for conversation together and in small groups. Lovely and tasteful beach art and very welcoming for children. A great family wedding weekend.

We rented Fish Tale to attend a wedding and reception on BHI in early October. This home is better than described. It is chock full of toys for kids and all the beach stuff anyone could want. Many indoor seating areas and a large deck made it easy to spread out and still have the ocean in the background. We also liked having all the rooms on one level. The location is ideal with easy beach access and yet convenient to all major highways and points of interest on the island. Our boat was docked at the marina. It was close enough to bike back and forth using one of Fish Tale's many bicycles. Our experience at Fish Tale could not have been any better. We thank the owners for sharing their home.

Bald Head Island is my family's favorite place to take a beach vacation. This house is very well appointed and functional. Anything you could want to have available was there, including gas and charcoal grills, beach toys, and bikes, and the kitchen set up and bunk beds in the kids room were great. The view is tremendous, and there was plenty of space for two families to relax and spread out. The owners were quick with responses to reserve the property as well as refund the security deposit. I would definitely stay here again.

This beautiful home had everything we needed. They thought about every detail, well equipped. I highly recommend to rent this house anytime. The brand new kitchen is just perfect and you must try the outdoor shower :) The owner was so nice and it was a pleasure to work with. Best house I've rented so far. Jimmy

I stayed at the Fish Tale home with 3 other friends for a girls weekend and we had a blast. The owners were very easy to work with and made sure that we had everything we could possibly need and then some. The house is open and has plenty of space for families or just friends. All we really needed to bring for the weekend was the clothes we were going to wear. Everything else was already at the home and at our disposal. Thank you for helping make this a fantastic vacation! We would definitely recommend this home.

A short weekend getaway with 5 girlfriends, turned into the most relaxing stay! I have visited BHI several times before and have rented through rental agencies and vrbo, this was hands down the best experience! The owners were very quick to respond in every email exchange, the house has everything you can possibly think of needing, and most importantly-- its super CLEAN! We loved the porch and view so much so that most of our time was spent soaking up the view. If kids are in your group, they will LOVE the bunk room! I took a picture of it for inspiration for our boys room! Tons of space for reading, relaxing, playing, and fellowshipping. The location is ideal as its close to the marina, grocery, Mojo's, BHI club and a new restaurant Delphina (Mexican cantina)....and just steps from the beach! Perfection.

This house truly has it all. We were two families with kids and the way the house is layed out- we all truly felt we had our space. The two master bedrooms really help (we have an infant who cries at night and no one in other rooms could hear him- a huge stress relief in a house full of sleeping children/adults) and the giant family room with "playroom" on the side helped to keep the kids and toys in one area where we could see them and grownups in their own space for happy hour. Huge bins of toys helped keep our kids busy while we made giant meals in the well-stoicked kitchen. The beach is close enough that we could send the older kids across the way to check on the ocean safely and still be able to see them from the deck. We have rented numerouse houses on BHI ans this one certainly suits us the best- beautifully decorated but not so refined you are worried your kids will destroy the place. Really the best of both worlds. Great all-around winner in my book. Owner left great binders with info on the island, what to see and even favorite beach recipes!!

From the minute we opened the front door we knew we had found the perfect beach house rental! Our two grandsons, 5 and 2, flew to the sunroom that was filled with wonderful toys and games.It looked like Christmas to them! Then there were the bunkbeds to explore and climbing to the top bunks was easily mastered and exciting. The open floor plan was just as described by Kristen-places for all to sit and little areas to "get away" if needed. The views were great too and the outside deck was a fun place to sit an enjoy the sunset and stars. Everything that we needed, and more, was provided in the kitchen and pantry. We were especially appreciative of the large master suite, which was located at the furtest part of the house and well sound proofed so that we did not hear the earliest little risers. Beach equipment, toys, books and games meant that one does not need to bring everything from the mainland. Our family used the two kayaks too and had a great time in the marshes! The outside shower with hot water was a great place for cleaning up after a day of fun in the sun. We would highly recommend the Turtle movie- good for adults as well as children. Actually, we loved BHI so much that we found a perfect place for us to buy! Fish Tale certainly was a big part in our falling in love with BHI and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place at the beach. And should our place become too crowded I know just the perfect house to rent!

Our stay was very special.....our first vacation with our son (age 3), and geez, was that house tailor made for a little boy! Every truck, car, train, game, book or puzzle that he could dream of was right there waiting for him and when we were not on that gorgeous beach, he was in toy heaven! It was really helpful to be SO close to the ocean.....we could come and go as we wished..... While he napped we sat out on that porch and gazed at the water......no stress, no drama, a fantastic stay and beautiful memories were made.

Fish Tale is a relaxing, beautiful, comfortable well-appointed house that is ideally located in the center of Bald Head Island. I have stayed at Fish Tale twice and can't wait to go back again. The ocean views are gorgeous and the deck is perfect. The kitchen is easy to use and the shared spaces are very nicely laid out so the children can play without interfering with others' relaxation. The beds and linens are of high quality and the house is very clean and tidy. The decorating is fresh and fun. You can get to the beach in less than a minute on foot, and the alligator and turtle pond is quick golf cart ride away. The kids loved the great toys available both in and under the house. Fish Tale is our favorite house to visit on the island. It is a great house for the rental price and I highly recommend this property to all visitors to BHI.

We have rented in bald head for the last 5 years and have tried a number of different rentals. "Fish Tale" is our top pick. We have stayed there with friends and a slew of children and alone with just grown-ups. Either way the house lends itself to incredible times- big dinners, great sleeping, porch talks, beach walks- just a dream. It is especially nice because the layout really offers privacy from bedroom to bedroom. You don't feel like you are on top of each other and even with a crying baby across the hall you don't hear a thing. The kitchen is stocked, the linens are nice, the decor is beautifully done- it doesn't feel like a rental. The large, open, living-dining-kitchen area is really the best for creating a great family space. Bald Head has become our family's tradition and "Fish Tale" made it possible.
