Mercure Heuroville-St.Claire staff was great and very helpful. The restaurant was quite good but a very limited menu. Breakfast was excellent! Our room was okay but too hot after the whole hotel AC was turned off. We had no way to just run the fan or open a window. It was also in an industrial area that we will avoid if we return to the Caen area.

We booked the Mercure as they are usually lovely, however this hotel is definitely not worthy of its four stars. The hotel room was spacious but it was filthy. Spiders webs, dead spiders, dirty toilet, mould everywhere in the bathroom on the tiles and green stains on the wall/wallpaper in the room, where product has been poured down it and not cleaned… It is outdated and does not reflect the hotel’s images at all ! Really disappointing and waste of money.

Outside of town but good location if you come by car and want to visit some Normandie beaches. Nice bathroom with good water pressure but only one bath towel in a double room - we had to ask for one for the second person. Very dark room, only small high level window, cause there is an ugly roof going up until far, dark carpet. No minibar/fridge. This is more like a 3 star room to me.

Bedroom smelt musty and needed a good airing. Hotel is located on the edge of an industrial estate so not a very nice area - fine if you're on local business but no good if you want any choice of food other than the hotel restaurant. Bar and restaurant OK and the staff quite friendly - certainly better than the rude, brusk reception staff.

My wife and I were told that the bar was closed but when others ( from a football team) arrived later they were served.

Perfect stop over for catching the car ferry.

Close to Caen ferry and Bayeux. Easy to get to and good parking. Comfortable rooms (with Tea Making Facilities!). Decor a Bit tired but overall very good value.

We arrived late and tired so were very happy that the hotel was situated in a quiet area. The bed was comfortable but a heavy duvet for such warm weather. From the photos I expected a coffee pod machine but just a kettle. At least we were able to make a hot drink. Wi fi was awful, kept dropping out so ended up using 3G the whole time. breakfast was automatically charged on our bill which we hadn’t had. Checkout was unfriendly and unsmiling. Not asked if we had had a nice stay or slept well. Perhaps the morning receptionist didn’t like foreign visitors.

Very convenient for the Caen ferry with easy access and secure parking. We arrived quite late and received a courteous welcome. The room was clean and comfortable. The main areas were fine but the corridors looked a little tired. We did not book or take breakfast but were told on checking out that the breakfast charge of about 15 euros per person was automatically added to the bill unless the customer asked for it to be removed. It was not the best start to the holiday to have to sort out an additional bill which was not owed. However we would recommend this hotel as a good stay over before or after a ferry crossing or as a base to explore Caen

Very convenient for ferries from Ouisterham. Hotel served dinner on Sunday evening, a rare event in France even when hotels advertise a restaurant. Secure parking on site is alsi a binus for us. Will use this hotel again.

The staff at the hotel was absolutely amazing. They were very friendly and very accommodating. The food in the hotel was excellent. The room was clean and well maintained. Where this hotel really fell short was the location and lack of options around it. The only restaurants that were close had very odd hours and were about an 11 minute walk from the hotel. And they were limited options. There is a bus stop outside of the hotel. But other than that if you stay here a car is mandatory. I would not recommend it on a tourist vacation, with no rental car. But for business or if you have a car I would highly recommend it. Parking is free at the hotel if your a guest. And it’s gated. So that’s nice. The area is also a clean and safe area. Overall it was a wonderful experience. I really can’t thank the staff enough tho. They were superb.

Easy to find. Staff were friendly and helpful. Most spoke very good English. Local restaurants and good breakfast.

Fairly comfortable hotel in a good location just outside the city centre. Great access to the tram network with a stop just across the road. Public rooms look like they have undergone recent renovation, but the rooms could do with similar attention. Having said that they are clean, tidy and in good order.

Hotel ia located in the industrial part of Caen, you need to take public transportation or walk to the city center. The staff is very friendly, the facility is clean and well maintained. We stayed two nights to visit D Day beaches and locations and hotel wak OK for such purpose.

The hotel staff inquired if I wanted breakfast, but they didn't tell me it would be an additional charge. Surprise - breakfast was an additional cost.

In an unlikely location this hotel was superb. Redesigned to a very high standard, great bedroom, great restaurant.....100% excellent food as good as any top restaurant in the area.

Enjoyed our stay and found the room very comfortable. Especially liked the bathroom. Restaurant very convenient. Also plenty of car parking.

We arrived very late (2am) but the night porter was very helpful and our rooms were ideal - clean, very comfortable and ideal for a good night's rest. The hotel is in a quiet position and there is very little noise around it (certainly at the weekend when we stayed)

The wait staff and bar tender staff was very slow. In fact at time they disappeared to maybe go out and smoke or take frequent breaks.

My poor experience with this hotel started with checkin. I had reserved a triple room through Expedia only to be given the key to a double. The hotel refused to honor the actual reservation and later refused later to refund or reduce the price I was charged. The basis for the refusal was their own lack of triple rooms. The halls are old and dingy in the hotel and when we tucked in for the night we were greeted by the smell of a man's armpit. The sheets had not been washed or changed. It took thirty minutes for new sheets to come. Why you might ask? Because this supposedly three star hotel is manned by a desk clerk, bartender and waiter and no one else at night. Also the sheets were for a twin bed. Don't worry though, the bartender will bring you an extra set of twin sheets if you ask. Finally, I booked this hotel for the laundry services. There are no services on the weekend. Despite what the expedia webpage says there are no facilities to do laundry in the building. The helpful staff will link you with a run down laundromat about two miles away if you really need to clean your shirt. Finally, the location is in the middle of a semi industrial park nearby an ugly multi-storey hospital and a run down Carrefour or K-Mart type store. I will never stay with Mecure again.
