The room was filthy, carpet stains all over. I booked a lake view but couldnt see due to the windows being fogges between the panes of glass. There was mildew in windows and several spiders i had to kill. The tub had no anti slip or traction of any kind. I stepped in & fell bringing the shower curtain with me. (I ended up with a fractured hip) the next moring at breakfast we went through a room (no signs anywhere & unlocked) to go outdoors. The cook and front desk lady came in and yelled at us. Stating the room was reserved and we werent allowed outdoors!! The cook told us we needed to just check out and go stay somewhere else. All for going through an unmarked, unlocked sunroom.

This place is a little rough. The staff was friendly, let me check in early. The room had a smell to it of old cigarettes. I actually went to the store and bought some Febreeze and sprayed it around my room. I was traveling solo, and am not very picky but the smell of cigarettes is gross. The rug in the room was very stained (just put in hardwood floors). The bar/karaoke night was pretty funny and worth seeing

Check in was friendly but my room was downgraded upon arrival. The room was musty and moldy and dated. A hole in the wall was filled with bunched up kleenex. The heating unit was so loud it woke me up every time it restarted itself (all night long). There were only 2 decaf coffees available to choose from. The TV didnt work. There was no phone in the room. There was no fan on the bathroom. Breakfast was served from 7-9 am which is a short window of time in my opinion.
The good: the room was clean with a great location.

I stay here often. The location is convenient, and the hotel is situated on a lake with very pleasant views. The restaurant is terrific and reasonable. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The building is a bit dated, but the rooms are clean and reasonable. I'll be back.

The staff was very friendly, the room was fairly clean the bathroom had mold on the ceiling however. Also I may have missed in the description but the nightclub/bar was directly below our room the music was very loud till 11pm. Which for us was ok we are late night people but others may not like that.

Overall stay was good. Property is beautiful. Took a morning walk along the lake both mornings after breakfast. Just a couple minor issues w/ the room. The drain in the bathtub didn't drain very well at all. There ended up being a giant stain on the side of the mattress. Looked like an old blood stain. I didn't notice until the morning we left. Ugh..

Its near salem,easy access to the highway. The view of the lake are amazing. The hotel was not new but we are glad of our trip. The breakfast was good and the coffee too.

My stay was very comfortable. The room was clean and cozy with the heater on since it’s winter. I recommend Lakeside if you’re on a getaway trip with your partner or for leisure purpose.

I had an early Dr appointment nearby and needed a room the night before. The hotel is old and in need of renovations. Not that I needed one, it also has no elevator. I was looking for an inexpensive basic room and my room was clean, the bed comfortable and had no issues with the bath or shower. They had also a no frills breakfast where I grabbed coffee and toast. Good for an overnight stay and close to Rte 128.

Hotel was great. Bar was awesome we were there on a Sunday night and they had karaoke. The people that were there were great, so nice. The bar tender David was great and so good with the regulars.

The room had cobwebs in the bedroom and bathroom and it looked like the bathroom floor wasn’t swept probably a pile of dirt was in the corner. They really need to clean the tub out!

My second stay here was a great as my first. The folks are nice, the restaurant is terrific, and the bed is comfortable. I'll be back when I'm in this area.

Might be the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. The hotel did not service my room any of the days I was there. There was mildew all over the bathtub. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. On my first night there, the neighbors were loud, so I put my headphones on to get some sleep. Near midnight, the front desk rang my room’s phone, waking me up, to ask me if the noise of my neighbors was bothering me. During checkout, the employees were having a conversation with each other and barely acknowledged me - just asked my room number and said I was all set. Definitely got what I paid for since the cost was low. One perk - the hotel bar had live music a couple nights during my stay, and that was nice.

Definitely a nice hotel for the price, especially because it includes a real breakfast. The staff was excellent - very friendly and efficient. Location is very good, there is plenty of parking, and the room was very comfortable. Very nice bar and restaurant area, with a great view of the lake.

This has become one of our favorite places to stay. This was our first time staying upstairs (great view but no elavator). Every member of the staff was incredible and very helpful with ice and requests.
Breakfast was a new addition and was incredible with many choices. Room was quite big...only complaint would be the shower was very slippery. Great stay!!!!

Front desk service was great. Service at the restaurant however was not the best. Room had stains on the carpet and bedding/ pillows was very old and worn. Musty odor throughout the hotel. Overall it served it's purpose and very generously rating as a 3. Needs much improvement.

Where to start??
First off, there was no elevator, which was fine, but still inconvenient. We had 2 towels and two washclothes for 4 people, and it wasn't easy to get any more. Very outdated, the tub looked dirty, hair in the corner of the bathroom under the vanity. We were placed right above the restaurant/bar area, so every night we were kept up by the loud music and talking right below us. We were locked out of the room twice when the key cards quit working.
The only good thing was a decent free breakfast that was well stocked even when busy, the blonde lady who bartended was super nice (sorry, I didn't catch her name) and the dinner menu was small, but tasty.

Stayed in room 140. Tub was disgusting. Rust on the floor and deterioration as well. Tried to get a different room as we desperately wanted showers after a long day of travel and walking around Salem. They didn’t want to help at all. No refund or anything when we cut the trip short just so we could sleep where we felt comfortable and shower in a clean shower. Would never return to this hotel and worn others of the lackluster condition and cleanliness.

We showed up 10 minutes early and he charges a $25 early Check fee we asked for extra pillows and the guy at the front desk gave us an attitude about it The air condition is stopped working throughout the night sweltering in our room would not recommend

Sketchy neighborhood, furnitures are old, cleanliness was 2-3 out of 5, towels etc, bed sheet was clean, hotel is 30-40 mins from downtown Boston, amazing lakeview just by the lake but I didn’t get a room with a view it was seeing the parking lot, price is much 70% lower than what is available in Boston downtown.

It was a very clean, updated room with a mini frig. We requested a microwave which was brought in to the room. Nice lake view. Front desk staff very accommodating.

Room was extremely dirty. Carpet was stained really bad. AC was really dirty and dusty. Bathroom sink had cracks in it. Microwave and fridge both didnt work. The bed was okay. Definitely did not feel comfortable being there. Manager did nothing to try and help resolve the problem besides apologize or credit of some sort even tho it made us leave a night early. I would never stay here again.

Took a chance on this hotel and was very satisfied. All staff were very nice and appeared to enjoy their jobs, which is both unusual and refreshing. Tried the restaurant for dinner and it was very good, and well worth the money. I was disappointed to see that breakfast wasn't offered until 7:00 a.m., so I wasn't able to eat before I checked out. It's a little rickety, but very clean. I will be going back when I need to stay in that area.
