It was close to family.

I would have to rape this place, a six out of 10. Number one issue. Was it the toilet in the room. It did not flush properly. Management was nice and gave us one night parking free and that was great. Desk chair seat was old and frayed. The carpet in the hall did not give a good first impression. The elevator took forever for only three floors. Maybe they were fixing it when we left so we got to drag our luggage down two flights of stairs. our previous night had been spent at the San Diego airport, Holiday Inn express, and there was no comparison that was much better than the one in Solana Beach. It’s too bad because we like the area, but we will probably not be going back to the Holiday Inn express in Solana Beach.

There was a leakage, the smell was horrible, and the elevator was broken. Very creepy and unpleasant experience

Needs remodeling and updating

It was great customer service the only bad thing was our room was by a side entrance door and whenever a guest used it, it would close very loud.

What a great hotel! Centered close to the beach and shopping in Solana Beach, it is easily walkable to restaurants and shops. Holiday Inn Express was clean, comfortable, and quiet; 3 things I look for when booking a room. You won’t be disappointed if you reserve a night here!

The room was not dusty, and the doorway was not cleaned. The carpet had a musty odor. We canceled our reservation and the staff was very courteous, understanding and apologetic and promptly refunded us.

Not good

The carpet throughout property is so dirty and stained that you cannot tell what color it is supposed to be. There were fruit flies in my room, the shower was dirty and my feet stuck to something the first time I used it. In the room for breakfast, the floors are dirty with spilled food. The floors have not been mopped. The carpet needs more than a vacuum and hard floors need mote than a broom.

The shower and tub area had mold and rust. We could not use the balcony due to the water that was dripping and puddling from the a/c unit of the room above us. There was no curtain set only the shear curtains and the lights from all the buildings around shined into the room and left no privacy. Our a/c unit was extremely loud. The hotel staff was very helpful and nice.

Over all the stay was okay. The room was a decent size with a comfy bed. But the carpet through out the entire hotel was dirty and smelly and i could smell in my room so i asked to swap my room which they did. Staff where friendly but the elevator needs to be upgrade took forever to shut the room or even move. Around the hotel was nice felt safe although the parking lot can be creppy.

We wanted a place close to the beach that was not insanely expensive. Price wasn’t great, stay was ok. Hotel was tired and looked like they were staging material in the parking lot for upgrades. Door to room was hard to close, phone in room did not operate, staff at front desk were not happy about asking for a later checkout.

The carpet is dirty everywhere. Only one elevator and it's slow and small. You basically don't have an elevator. Room smelled of smoke. Photos are misleading. Place is just old. Definitely overpriced for what you get.

In need of some renovations.

Dirty and outdated. Front desk staff they just began a re-model process. Unfortunately, they were still charging full rates. We checked out after one night stay and checked into Courtyard Marriott. Much cleaner and more updated. When I called Expedia they (Audrey) was amazing! She helped facilitate our cancellation.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hallways, elevator, and entrance doors needed updating. Towards the end of our stay one of the doors sfoooed working and we had to use elevator which took a long time to jumpstart before it moved. Carpets in hallways also need updating, funny smell.

The elevator was not functional. Very difficult to move around in a multi-floor hotel with no working elevator.

Rooms and property need a lots of upgrades and cleanliness.

The elevator was broke and we were on the 3rd floor. The carpet on stairs and hallways was filthy. The counter staff were great , esp Fabricio!! Told how to get to the beach, steered towards good places to eat. Very friendly and helpful!

For the price we paid of $481 per night, it was the worst hotel experience we have ever had. The room was terrible, rugs dirty, bathroom dirty.

Carpet smelled very bad. Bed head board had hand marks and (most likely body fluids) liquid drops all over it. Elevator was out of service 5 days out of 7 days of stay. When I talked to manager he said ‘’ you chose to stay after the elevator was out’’ as if I can afford booking another room for a week while I paid in full and they held an extra 614$ in addition to full payment of 1300$ . I didn’t get any kind comments such as sorry for the inconvenience from that manager! When I talked to him about my expectiom of a clean room. He said staff cleaned it for you. They did but after I complained. I expect a clean room before I check in.any way they cleaned room but forget to vacuum the sand off the carpet which was there before we checked in. We didn’t go to the beach so the sand was not from us. This was unacceptable for holiday inn which I have been to in other states and had way better experience. Plus AC turns off daily and we come back to a 80 degree temp in room. I am extremely disappointed and I will escalate my concerns soon.

Chose this over the Marriott courtyard because Expedia said it was 8.4 compared to 8.2 and the price was comparable. Bottom line, don't stay here. My family said on the way to our room that they smelled somewhere between a dead squirrel and a dead skunk on our path. If I didn't drink tonight I would have drove home.

It was a Hot weekend and the A/C didn’t work. I informed front desk. Told me someone would be coming up to check it out (rm.231). Never came. I should’ve asked again, the nighttime was horribly hot.

Elevator was not working, ac was not working. Room smelled like mildew and the bathroom door was ridiculously loud and squeaky, I woke up my kids every time I used restroom.

Hotel was okay for a one-night stay. Our room was quiet and beds comfortable. Breakfast had a good selection of items. However, hotel is old and needs to be refurbished. Also, no soap for bathroom sink (just shower gel). Bath towels were ragtag, one with a large hole.

No exhaust in the bathroom. AC front panel almost ready to come off and full of rust. Long wait before checking in.
