It has always been a dream of mine to stay in a real medieval chateau. We had an exceptional experience! Not only is the chateau absolutely beautiful, the staff and food was superb! They are all so friendly and accommodating. They go over and beyond and I would recommend a visit to everyone! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience!

Our stay at Château de Mercuès was fantastic. We stayed for one night and swam, dined, drank and slept wonderfully.
The staff were helpful, friendly, knowledgable and discreet. I cannot speak highly enough of all of them.
The pool area was build in the 60s and although maybe showing its age slightly, was charming, providing sunbeds and parasols
The evening service at La Dueze (on-site michelin starred restaurant) was impeccable. The food and wine were some of the best I have ever had.
The room was tidy, clean and comfortable and well equipped with tea-making, wi-fi and small minibar. The wine tour is a must. The cellars were immaculate and a testament to the care and dilligence of the staff thoughout.
The hotel is one of a kind. A genuine castle on top of a hill with some of the most breathtaking views I have ever experienced.

Stunning property

The room was large and the bed was very comfortable. The decor was very old and tired and the air conditioning did not work - no matter what the wall machine said. The worst part was that there was no shower in the bathroom. Only a bath with a hand held (no not attached on high).
The restaurant, on the other hand was exceptional

The stay was amazing. Very nice and clean accomodation.

A truly amazing place! The view is spectacular, and the service and the food are extraordinary. It‘s very well maintained (which is very hard work for such a place - an old castle). It‘s worth a stay!

Thoroughly recommend Chateau de Mercues, we had a wonderful stay and the surrounding area is amazing.
1.0
We had an evening meal from the Bistro menu (restaurant closed that day) and one from the main restaurant menu. Both times we felt the meals were disappointing. Portion sizes small esp for this part of France. The flavours were not up to Michelin star rating. My husbands steak was dry and overcooked and my lobster was miniscule and mushy, and that was after waiting an hour for the food to arrive. Better meals can be had in nearby villages at a fraction of the price, less touristy, and with true French flavour. We didn't bother with the breakfast at 29 euros each. Our room had a private balcony with a magnificent view, and the room was comfortable in the gentrified, decrepit chateau style.

Beautiful Château steeped in history - only negative was no air conditioning in main bedroom although we had a second bedroom which had an air conditioning unit which helped cool the suite. Food gorgeous and attentive service.

A most incredible property - a medieval castle/fortress on top of the hill overlooking the area. Beautifully restored with charmingly appointed rooms. Front desk staff good, however, restaurant staff was hopeless. It is a one Michelin star restaurant and the food is at a high level but the waiting staff is not up to scratch. They served us lukewarm white wine and it took them another hour to bring out the bottle of red and almost 2 hours to begin serving food. Just as bad was the wine tour which was conducted by a Young man half in English and half in French yet the he spent 90% of the time talking to the french crowd while we were forced to wait up to half an hour at a time for a 5 min speach. Have up in the end.

Gorgeous Château. Great location. Marvelous staff and amenities. Loved it.

First a caution. Our GPS (and we were told most GPS devices) will not get you to the hotel. Once you get to the town of Mercuès, follow the hotel’s signs not your GPS. The hotel is a true chateau with a long and interesting history. The building and grounds are lovely as are the rooms. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The restaurant is starred and the food is extremely good. Prices at the restaurant are somewhat high but generally in line with other comparable restaurants. The chateau is also a winery. If you like wine, it is worth a visit.

Beautiful, just before the seasons close. If you like castle, wines, and outstanding food this is your place. Bonus: you can visit the castles winery.

We had a fascinating room in one of the turrets. We cooled down (it was over 30C) by the outdoor pool. We sampled wines from the Cave. We ate at the Michelin 1-star restaurant. We enjoyed the vintage Jaguars from the antique car club that also stayed at the hotel. The only suggestion to make is to install a shower curtain around the bath for those who prefer to shower rather than bathe.

The chateau is stunning, great pool and ground. The staff are wonderful and helpful (the manager gave us a lift in to Cahors when the local taxis said they were too busy). The food in the restaurant was incredible - one of the best meals I have had. Overall, a phenomenal experience.

The place is a ‘chateau’- you really get to be a prince & princess for one night. We had a warm welcome by the staff, the room had an amazing view to the river and was very spoiling...

the place is very uniqe its an old castel that has been renovated. the room is actually an old bedroom and a batroom in two separte floors. it is not convinent, the stairs are too narrow and quite not safe. my partener sent to the bathrom down the stairs and slipped over hurting her leg and knee. i think the hotel is very special and uniqe but the wa the rooms are seperated from the bathrooms is unsafe.my partner is lucky that she didnt hurt her leg more seriosly.also the breakfast is poor and expensive,

We spent 2 nights at Château Mercuès and it was a true amazing experience ! The castle and the views it offers over the Lot river were just breathtaking. The staff was very dedicated and offered a personalized service throughout the various services of the hotel. The food was excellent and the setting in the Royal Courtyard very pleasant. The only small thing is that the bathtub has no curtain or glass door so you have to bath "à la francaise". But overall our experience at the castle was a memorable one that we will carry for a long time !.

all good except for 2 major things.
1/ The bathrooms do not have either a shower or a shower head holder above the bathtub. Hence it is impossible to take a shower without uncomfortably sitting in a bathtub and holding the showerhead above your head like in a "one star" hotel. This is totally unacceptable and extremely unpleasant
2/ The Wifi is terrible and maxes out at 1.5 MBS download so basically worthless for anything else than texting
The access code varies by bedroom and is complicated enough to protect you from the NSA while requiring constant repeat of the needlessly complicated login procedure . All in all a huge waste of time for foreigners needing seamless WIFI for personal or professional use at an age where 2 star hotels in remote places of the globe have decent WIFI access and speeds

We used the hotel as a stop off point on our way to the South coast - what a treat !

Reception welcoming and helpful. Manager on the ball!
Some rooms are a bit lacking light and monastic but top rooms are historic but good with big bathrooms.

One of the best hotels we have stayed in in France. Perfect for a romantic break, with lovely rooms, fantastic views and delicious dinners set in a beautiful courtyard. Well placed for trips to local Cahors vineyards and for the town itself, which is charming.
Both waiting and front-of-house staff were attentive and engaging and the sommelier suggested great wines at reasonable prices.
Definitely deserving of its Relais & Chateau status and well worth a route deviation to enjoy.

Fabulous setting and very luxurious.
Restaurant wasn't open as we were there on a Mobday evening but had a delicious dinner in the courtyard.
Swimming pool was huge, spotlessly clean and peaceful.
Superb breakfast and friendly super service. Will definitely go back!
