Really enjoyed our stay. Very clean and modern everywhere in the hotel and rooms. Breakfast was great quality and value for money. Staff extremely friendly. Location is a little further out of the old town that we would have liked but there is a metro station very near and the walk is only 30 mins. To use the spa is extra, but all the info was very clear when we booked. I would recommend and stay again.

The hotel is clean and functional, within a 15 minute walk of the old town. The area around the hotel is quite run down, there’s a metro stop about mins walk away. Rooms are small but the en suites are good. Gym and spa are not part of the hotel but in a separate part of the basement, hotel guests must pay extra to use them each time they visit.

Nice enough hotel but the experience isn’t as described on hotels.com. The main appeal for my stay when booking was the gym/ pool which were key filters in my search. However I was extremely disappointed when advised at check in that a €20 fee per day was required to access the facils. Further it was mandatory to wear a swim cap and flip flops which would have incurred an additional unplanned expense. Additionally, the wifi access was sporadic and overly complicated to access. The receptionist kindly tried to assist with one of my devices but was flummoxed and was unsuccessful in connecting it to the wifi. The location was good for me and I really enjoyed bubbling around the nearby Santuxtu and Begoña neighbourhoods with the Guggenheim and Old Town also within pleasant walking distance. Nice staff and nicely appointed but disappointed by the inaccurate listing on Hotels.com.

It was a very comfortable hotel. We.will be staying there again after we visit other stops in Spain, before we fly home from the airport in Bilbao.

Good location in Bilbao. Super friendly and service oriented staff. Wonderful breakfast buffet. Really a shame that the outdoor pool was closed even though heavily advertised with on booking and hotel site, in a week when day time temp was 30 deg C. Car park is expensive at € 20 / night.

Good hotel, good location, nice views of city. Unfortunately we chose to stay here because it had a pool but it was closed for our entire stay.

Nice hotel in Bilbao , not too far from city sightseeing and close to the airport

Best were the staff, especially the two Ana’s (restaurant and bar) and David (bar), and the common areas and outdoor pool were quite pleasant, too. The room had a cheap feel for a 4 star hotel, inconveniently designed bathroom and clothe closet. The bed was excellent, however. The shower would have been nice if not for the badly tilted floor that caused water to stagnate in a small pool and which over time created a bit of mold. While the coffee at the bar was excellent, and so were the sandwiches in that area, the food in the pleasant looking restaurant was spectacularly bad on both occasions we tried it, no exaggeration. The hotel location was ok, working class apartment buildings all around and a very short and pleasant metro ride to Center 4 min walk from hotel, plus walkable down to old town if you don’t mind a lot of climbing on the way back. A mixed bag, in conclusion, but not awful, and would have given 4 stars if this was a 3 star hotel.

The hotel gym and spa is not free. You have to pay 20 euro to visit it. This is not made clear when booking it. Not ok.

I’ll never book any occidental or Barceló hotel again. They always come up with extra fees for something that is not described as such when you book the hotel. The gym should cost extra. If I knew that I would have booked a hotel that was in a nice area than this by one. The WiFi was so weak that not any form of streaming was possible. The area where the hotel is placed is very uphill and in a rather poor area of the city. Surrounded by not beautiful buildings. The pool is rather unpleasant as well. My recommendation stay away from both, this hotel and from the entire chain!

We arrived after a 19 hour drive in the middle of the night and the check in staff were amazing. So friendly and efficient. The hotel is very nice, well located and the rooms are very pleasant. Recommended

Staff in the hotel were on strike for the duration of my stay making noise constantly and generally affecting the whole mood of the hotel

Great location for using the Metro which is very close. Staff are pleasant and helpful.

The hotel itself is quite nice and staff are very friendly. The city itself is very hilly and as the hotel is outside of the centre just be aware of the uphill walk home. Breakfast was only ok, I expected more for the price so in hindsight wish I had booked without breakfast and eaten elsewhere. Outdoor pool is a great size for a city hotel, but I didn’t use the spa as it was far too busy as it’s a public gym not a hotel spa.

Lovely hotel but lots of hidden charges. Do not be fooled by the image of the pool. In the small print you can see it’s only open June to September despite being on the images all year round. We were there on 27th May and it was closed despite being 25 degrees outside. The indoor pool is part of the spa so you have to pay extra for it, and children are not allowed to use it. Really disappointing. I may have missed this information on the property details, however I feel it was very misleading as much of this information was only visible in the fine print.

I liked the possibility that the breakfast was going until 11:00 and the possibility to be sustainable for example to change not the towels every day. I didn´t like that the cleaning staff throw my own new cotton buds away and to put the hotel cotton buds instead on the place. It´s not sustainable

Vete good hotel, the bad news is, the parking fee is pretty high, very expensive, too expensive .

Great hotel! & superb customer service and bar/catering team. The only downside is additional charge for the gym which for 2x ppl over the few days does add up. Would urge management to consider a better deal for hotel guests.

I was initially given a small room witth two single beds rather than the 'Superior Kingsize with additional bed' that I had paid for. The receptionist was rude, brusque and argumentative and only conceded that she had given me the worng room when I showed her the confirmation emai. She blamed Expedia! Wont be going back!

Lovely modern spacious open plan lobby/restaurant. Nice clean heated pool but why no decked seating area/bar? Hotel is up a vey steep hill from city - solution is a 6Euro Uber on return
