perfect near Viktualienmarkt

I've seen some comment about rooms being small. The nature of the building somewhat dictates this, and for a single, mine was absolutely fine. The same goes for the small lift - you'd struggle to fit a bigger one in, so be patient! There's obviously been a refurbishment, which I liked, and the staff were great. I didn't have the breakfast, so can't comment on that. The location is great, right in the heart of the Alte Stadt, with many key spots within walking distance. The market itself is fantastic, too (be prepared at the beer stall and a couple of the coffee places for cash only transactions). There are some potential downsides - no fridge or kettle in the room - but neither of these bothered me. A double set of windows meant that personally I didn't find things noisy. I will certainly return to this hotel next time I'm in Munich.

This is the second time we’ve stayed and the staff is wonderful and the hotel is very nice and spotlessly clean

Overall this hotel is in the best location in Munich, it’s in the center of everything. Unfortunately we had to leave a night early due to a train strike since we had a train for the next morning to Vienna, we knew it would get cancelled and sure enough it did. So we had to take a train a day early and explained to the hotel the situation but they would not give us a refund for that one night we are losing due to the strike. That was the only downfall to it but I really like this hotel.

The location is amazing for exploring Munich. Close to sits, restaurants and public transportation. A few of the prior ratings mentioned hotel staff didn’t speak English. We did not find that to be the case.

The hotel was in a great location. Super easy to get to and right at the market. The room itself was tiny and being on the first floor the garbage trucks woke me up quite early. I’d suggest asking for an upper floor room.

Clean Hotel that is located in a very nice part of the Old City

The hotel is centrally located in the heart of old town Munich. Just steps from restaurants, cafes, the open market and many beautiful sights. The room was 2 twins and very small for my daughter and I. There was a large fan but no A/C. The front desk clerk did not speak any english and we don't speak German, but we were able to communicate ok with our translate apps. The parking garage is about 2 blocks away, and I learned the second day that we could get some parking covered by presenting the parking ticket to the front desk.

Charming hotel on cobblestone walkway within walking distance of many attractions, dining and public transport. I would definitely recommend. One thing of note: there is no air conditioning but there is a fan in the room - with windows open at night, that helped cool off the room.

A nice boutique hotel in the center of Munich. Easily walkable to most all of the main attractions and shopping. The adjacent market was really cool! Breakfast at the onsite restaurant was good as well.

My husband I stayed for three nights on our first time in Munich. Location couldn’t be better. We loved being so close to Marienplatz but yet in a quiet little street. Got off the subway and walked less than 5 minutes to hotel. Super clean and quiet. Room was small but perfect for our needs. Will definitely come back if ever in Munich again.

Had a great stay at Hotel am Markt in Munich. Very close walk to both Marienplatz and Viktualienmarkt. Also Deutschets Museum is an easy walk from this location. Friendly and wonderful staff. If you travel to Munich, you can't go wrong with this hotel!

This hotel is in a great area. The hotel staff were pleasant. However the room was tiny. It was only about 12’ wide by 14’ long. The bathroom was tiny too. There were no amenities at the property. No lobby to sit in, no bar. There was a small restaurant attached but you need a reservation. For what they have to offer, it’s extremely overpriced. We could hear others’ conversations clearly thru the wall.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Am Markt! Allen at the front desk was so helpful and personable. The hotel is perfectly situated to the major sites and experiences in Munich. There are so many wonderful restaurants, bars, shopping ad markets in 2-5 minute walking distance. I have already booked my next trip for Oktoberfest here. I would highly recommend this to all travellers of every age. For solo female traveler, this is a safe and convenient location. Wishing all of you safe and happy travels. Prost!!!

Great Hotel, no hesitations to recommend

Dont expect lots of amenities. Location is great, updated rooms with no frills or extras but super clean and meets the basic needs for a traveler.

The staff was helpful, the location was fantastic. We slept well, but had to close the windows to reduce outside noise to do so. This caused our room to be somewhat "stuffy" during the night. We went down for breakfast at the attached restaurant, only to be turned away because we had not reserved breakfast the night before. Not to worry, there was a McDonald's around the corner, so we ate breakfast there! The room was small and the bathroom claustrophobic - truly a "water closet." It reminded me of a dorm room from my college days! There were no drawers, a tiny table with one plastic chair, one stool, two twin beds, and a couple pegs on which to hang things, and that was it! The room was spotless. The lift was only large enough for one person and their luggage. We would stay there again because of the location and the spotless housekeeping.

Excellent location, easy walking distance to Marienplatz, numerous food and drink options in the immediate area. Our room was small but efficiently laid out, very clean and comfortable.
