Excellent value for money. Staff were so lovely. Comfortable bed. Clean. And great location.

Positives: Easy walk to beach and boardwalk. Everything felt classic-like out of a movie! Antique elevator, lovely dining area and entryway (except bedroom- see below.) Found out we had a free 3-course dinner and full continental breakfast included! Free wine but paid for water/ soft drinks. Great food! Very clean room. Negatives: Our room: Felt like we were sleeping in a back alley closet. Little to no decor, minimal light bulbs, really small bathroom, poor TV quality. Hostess spoke little English so was difficult to communicate about meals and beach use. Not sure if we had beach "rights". Limited parking.

Can’t recommend a stay here. The only upside is that the hotel is situated close to the nice promenade by the beach. There are only private beaches and sun beds for one day cost around 25€. The hotel will charge around 3€ more if a voucher is bought there. No beach bar available as stated in the hotel information. Towels are only changed every third day even if a sign in the bathroom states that the towels are changed if they are placed on the floor. Very confusing. Leaking shower door so a puddle of water on the floor after each shower. Cockroaches in the room. Available staff when checking in couldn’t speak English, caused unnecessary uncertainties. Staff claimed that city tax should be paid every day, think that it is more correct to charge this tax for the amount of nights.

The staff is very friendly. The hotel is quite noisy. Fantastic elevator!! The beach nearby the hotel is private. The public beach is a 1.1 km walk. The boulevard is very nice.

The parking is 10 euros per day so a one-night stay is 20 euros. Very misleading. There is no place to unload the luggage as the one spot was taken by the hotel car. There is no pool, the "pool" is a fountain from the town.

Glorious position on the beach with a balcony. This hotel is a grand old dame of the flapper period and very clean. The staff were wonderfully helpful and charming. Kids would thrive here. The food was simple and cheap.

This is an old hotel with character, good quality of service at a reasonable price.

Hotel Marchionni is very well situated for the beach and walking the promenade. The rooms are well-proportioned with air-conditioning. Great for the summer. There's a lovely reading/lounge room off reception and a really unique, antique lift. I think the hotel is suitable for families, couples, or solo travellers as well. The breakfast is functional and the staff very kind. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend Hotel Marchionni for a relaxing holiday.

We were blown away by this Hotel. The Breakfast was wonderful also cooked eggs bacon and sausages. Fresh fruit pastries. too much to mention and all so fresh . The staff all so friendly. Spacious rooms. We'll be back to this hotel again without a doubt! Such a find, you won't be dissapointed!

The hotel is rather old but there is some charm in it. Great for a weekend by the sea, only 3 mins walk from the beach and the sea promenade with lots of restaurants and shops.

The hotel is in a great location with plenty of free parking close by or pay euro 6/day to park in blue spaces ignorant of hotel. We paid an extra euro10/day to upgrade to a bacon with sea view - well worth it. 1 minute walk to beach and promanade. There is also a very good restaurant close by that provides 10% discount based on a card that hotel provides. Good breakfast but service there is not friendly. My wife cannot tolerate caffeine and getting a deca did not seem to be welcome on day 1. Better on day 2. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would go back.

Look this room was cheap (well I thought so because I thought I paid taxes - when I got the bill they charged me again.) I only booked a single room and it was a BOX room with the ensuite being a built in closet! It had a doorway that anyone over weight would not get through. It was about 4ft square that meant you would hurt yourself squeezing past the sink & toilet roll holder. the window opened about 4 inches with fixed close shutters on. The whole room was claustophobic with dodgy sockets and a broken air con unit. I hated the room. Breakfast was very good and the reception staff were helpful. There is an agreement with a nice beachclub across the road and this is offered at a discount. The lift is open and looks unsafe so its up the stairs with your heavy cases.

Viareggio is great base to visit Florence, Lucca, Pisa, etc by train. Old Hotel struggling to meet current expectations & standards. Rooms clean, good choice of fresh food at breakfast. Staff always helpful. Good value for money.

Overall the hotel is perfect for a nice vacation beach. Not that much to complain and things you don´t find immediately the staff is very friendly and helps in any way. Staff speaks mulitple languages as well, so no communication problems.

This place needs a good cleaning. The elevator smells like a gym locker, floors lumpy, beds are very used and the blinds don't work. The elevator get stuck upstairs everyday. But it is not without charm.

an adequate hotel for a one night stay.No view of ocean as advertised but cold fridge and convient location.The beach area is a refreshing change from the cobble stone streets of Lucca.This hotel has some minor problems but is adquate for the price.

The hotel was well located with ample parking. It was winter and walks on the beach were enjoyable. We liked it so much that we stayed a few more days. Excellent breakfast!
