An amazing concept which was clean and tidy. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs. Would recommend even if not intending to ski (we were passing through en route home from Greece)

Noisy and hot the whole night.
I have selected this hotel because of the announced fitness and spa.
Both have been closed without any prior notice.

Fabulous location near to the centre of town, great free shuttle service to and from the ski lift. Room was clean and comfortable and although there were groups of children staying at the hotel, it was very quiet at night. Good shower and plenty of space in the room. Great choice for breakfast and lovely bar/lounge area to relax. Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the housekeeping staff who were very friendly.

Fabulous location for ski lifts and restaurants. The breakfast was excellent too.
The spa facilities are separate to the hotel. Make sure you take flip flops and a towel or you have to pay to hire them. Entry to the facility is also at a fee each time.

The hotel has a very interesting layout. It was buiilt in 1937 and is similar to the Gugenheim museum in NY, in a sense that the rooms are arranged around a spiral corridor that goes up from the first floor all the way to the 8th. Advantages: the breakfast was very good, a lot to choose from. The hotel is very close to ski lifts - about five minutes drive and the hotel provides a shuttle bus. It is also a 2 minute walk to the center of the little town of Sauze d'Oulx where shops, restaurants and pubs are. There is a ski/snowboard rental on hotel premises (in the basement) with efficient with an efficient employee (thanks Randy). There are also lockers to keep the skiing equipment.
Disadvantages: The hotel is really overpriced in the winter. I'm not sure why they call themselves VIP, as the hotel and the rooms are pretty basic. Furthermore, the hotel does not have its own swimming pool, but rather the spa complex is in a separate building next door, a short walk across the parking lot. We got two vouchers for free entrance, but we were there for five days. The entrance to the pool and spa are around 18 euros per person per day. The hotel does not have landline telephones between the rooms, nor do rooms have any kettle to make tea. The two elevators constantly malfunctioned. To summarize - not a VIP hotel, probably something like 3 stars, but the stay was still very enjoyable due to the hotel's location, nice staff, great skiing and the general athmosphere.

AVOID THIS “HOTEL”. This was probably the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and resembled more of a hostel than hotel. The staff are rude and unhelpful. On one occasion we asked for a bottle of water (at approx midnight) and were told that it was not possible as the bar had closed. What type of hotel doesn’t even have a vending machine so that guests can purchase water? On another occasion we asked for extra towels and were interrogated as to the reason why this was required. The rooms are badly in need of upgrade and the beds are very uncomfortable. The spa which is at extra cost, is quite old and felt dirty. The hotel was extremely noisy making it very hard to relax. During our stay a group of school children (approx 70 kids) were staying in the hotel and they were let run wild. On numerous occasions there were knocks on our door by kids who then ran away. The noise was constant and unbearable, so much so that we spent as little time in the hotel as possible. When I asked the front desk to contact the teachers/guardians to have the kids more behaved my concerns were laughed off. We paid over €280 per night during our stay and it’s definitely the worst value for money I’ve ever experienced. I never once felt relaxed in the hotel and would never go back. I could go on and on with other issues ranging from torn carpets in halls to elevators that felt like they hadn’t been serviced in years. Overall it was a horrible stay that stained an otherwise enjoyable holiday.

The stay was good and the hotel was nice. However, it felt like the madress in our room has some broken springs, as you almost sat in a hole somewhere.
Also the wifi was not fully functional in the room, we often lost connection.
But good breakfast selection and friendly staff all around.

All really good, except being charged €10+ for nibbles in the bar.

The cleaning staff was very friendly. They separated our beds even though we didn't request separate beds upon booking. The only minus with the hotel in it self was the lack of air condition or a well functioning thermostat. I don't think old radiators are acceptable for a 4 star hotel.

Excellent breakfast- are ally wide range of choices, including an amazing array of cakes and pastries. The hotel was quiet with beautiful views, in easy reach of some lovely walks in the mountains.

Great location for Sking, close to lift and centre of Sauxe. The ski shuttle was also excellent. Our 2 storey room was fantastic for us with a 9 years old child.

Very pleasant stay, in iconic hotel. Internally no stairs, all rooms are reached by an internal ramp.

Really enjoyed our stay, this is our 2nd time at the hotel. Breakfast is of a good standard. Rooms and building could do with an upgrade but for the amount of time spent in hotel it didn't bother us. 5min walk to ski lift (clotes), hotel mini bus also on hand to take you to lifts if you don't want to walk. Good location.

Convenient, reasonably priced and clean.

This is one of the older hotels in sauze but has larger than average rooms for a ski hotel, with shower and bath.
Breakfast was usual buffet with plenty of choice, didnt have an evening meal in the hotel as we were B&B
All the staff were friendly, special mention for Ceasur at the bar.

Built by Fiat in the 1930's, the design of the hotel intrigues. EVERY room is at a slightly different level, and you can walk from the bottom to the top of the building up a spiral ramp. (There are also lifts). Lots of 1930's architectural features. First rate, english speaking service at reception and in the restaurant. Hotel's own ski bus every 10 min or so to the lifts. Less than 5 min walk to the centre of the town. Phenomenal view of the mountains from the restaurant and lounge. Just great.

Iconic hotel that sadly is ageing ,carpets wearing,Wifi flaky, breakfast not as it used to be,the scrambled egg was appalling and the bacon fatty and under cooked, but lovely bar and great staff

excellent transport arrangements to and from ski lifts and up town.

Unusually shaped, rotundal hotel, with spiraled platform leading to the top, instead of stairs. There are also a couple of small lifts, but overall not too big a problem accessing the floors. The hotel is very close to the ski slopes and provides a complimentary bus to the ski lifts. Rooms clean and warm, with magnificent views of the mountains. Nearby village and shops enchanting.

Fantastic Hotel, excellent staff, gorgeous landscape and stunning restaurant

This was certainly a hotel with a difference. Circular in shape and although the corridors were a bit prison-like, the rooms were fine with lovely mountain views. Service was good and staff were helpful and spoke English. The village is a typical Alpine village with lots of restaurants and cafes. The approach to the village is not for the faint-hearted,(steep winding roads) but worth a visit.

Excellent 4 Star Hotel. (Although I would comment that the free WI-FI was in fact unavailabe in the rooms and I had to go into the foyer)

I've stayed at the Torre a few times before. The staff are pleasant, the rooms are nice. The hotel is a little quirky. It has an art deco feel. It needs a little attention outside in the grounds. Some paving needs re-laying, the gates and railings need repainting. I noticed it is under new management so maybe these will be done soon
