It's a lovely gem of a hotel that never disappoints when ever we stay there. For the price it's the best value out there for hotels on this level. The restaurant and bar is also lovely, with great food. It's in the center of Covington so you can walk everywhere.
One one complaint is the off site gym, which was a bit down and out, compared to the hotel and you have to walk to another building behind the hotel.

This place is amazing. It never disappoints. It’s southern, it’s luxury, it’s historical and its walking distance to shops and restaurants. The people are extraordinary and you will find reasons to return.

Pros: Quaint, comfy, southern unique quality. Clean and quiet.
Nice bar and drinks, meet up with friends. Atmosphere.
Cons: Disappointed about coffee being their only excuse for a breakfast amenity. High enough charge should have included more.
Check in at 4 and check out at 11 is ridiculous!

Hotel located in area with many quality locally owned and operated restaurants within walking distance. While we live only 45 min away, the Southern Hotel's rooms, bar, patio and location offer us a great spot for a short staycation.

I have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed if you want to just sit back and relax and forget about the rest of the world for a little while this is the place. Please say hello to Tara., she is the best, and she will take care of you just like she does everyone who visits the southern hotel.

The Southern Hotel is the place to stay. Its atmosphere, staff, food and rooms are always the best.

The bed was comfortable and the bar staff was wonderful. We had no view, the bottom part of the window had a covering. The bathroom had zero storage or shelves and was tiny. No mini fridge or coffee maker. On checkout, the front desk required ID to get our receipt printed. I’ve never been asked for ID at any hotel on checkout. This caused another trip back to my car to get ID, which was inconvenient since the parking lot is no where near the front desk.

Relaxing and comfortable! Just a one night stay but have no complaints. Bed was very comfortable and air conditioner was very good. Walking distance to restaurants and lobby bar had fantastic drinks. Just a great place to stay.

Beautiful done renovations of the building! Rooms are comfortable, bathrooms are really nice( water could be a little hotter)! Courtyard and pool are a wonderful place to unwind from the day!

Unfortunately the Thursday evening piano music was replaced by singer with loudly prerecorded accompaniment music. ☹️☹️☹️ Hope they bring back the piano guy!
