It was nice to get away from the city.

It’s a really great spot inside the gates of Rumbling Bald; however, the first night we got ate up by spiders, or something, in the beds, and the basement bedroom is creepy. There are noises coming from a code entry door by the bed, and, I guess, rust drip stains from a different door in the bathroom area. Not sure what’s behind it, didn’t want to know. It does seem like it doesn’t get cleaned under and around furniture in the house. But, it does have the necessary items in the kitchen, and after we washed the sheets and comforters, I don’t think we got many more bug bites. We did also have a black bear on the back porch come visit and knock on the door. But, overall, it provided a great place to enjoy Rumbling Bald.

If you know bears are around why don't you have bear spray or an airhorn?

The property worked out great. Loved the house, and the resort amenities were top notch.

Four of us stayed here because we were playing in 2 golf tournaments in Rumbling Bald. The scenery is beautiful. The home was very clean. The decks were so nice to sit out on in the evenings and early mornings. Everything worked fine and the fire pit was terrific to have each night. The kitchen was very well stocked. We certainly appreciated the Vacasa General Manager ensuring that we had extra bedding for the person who slept on the couch. Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience a week before our stay with the local person who was supposed to be the property manager - so we dealt with the Vacasa General Manager of the entire area of Western NC and SC. Sue R. was fantastic - she really understood our frustration and fixed all of the miscommunications and non-communications quickly. We are all very appreciative that she stepped in and helped us. The house was serene and worked well for the 4 of us. Only issue was lack of water pressure, but that's probably common in that area. Overall, a wonderful house - we would stay there again.

Love the house but on the second night the power went out and was told it wouldn’t be back on until the next morning. So we went home.

We really enjoying visiting Rumbling Bald over New Years and hope to come back another (warmer) time of year to take advantage of the outdoor and lake activities. Great cabin, just as advertised. Thank you!

The cabin was very nice the only thing that happened was the upstairs tub did not drain correctly. It was no big deal we just used the shower down stairs. You would not know that was an issue unless you were told so no problem. We enjoyed our stay and will return when in the area. Thank you

We shared the house with another couple and our 10 month old. The house itself was well maintained, clean, and comfortable! Plus, the included amenities provided endless actives on-site. Be prepared for lots of twists and turns as you drive up the mountain, but honestly as someone who loves mountain driving that was one of my favorite parts.

House was nice and the area was beautiful.. Well equipped kitchen and well stocked for our stay. The only complaints that we have are first the pet fees are a little extreme and well hidden in the listing. The second concern was the lighting in the kitchen area. Because the house is back in the mountain there was very little natural light and the kitchen was very dark. Overall nice location and above all we enjoyed time with our family.

Cardinal Cabin offered great access to Lake Lure as well as comfortable accommodations. The check in/out process was very easy and well communicated.

We had a great experience at the Carolina Cardinal House. It had the feeling of being secluded in the woods yet the lake and resort amenities were just a few minutes away. It was the best of both worlds for our family.

House was as described in listing, clean. And well -cared for. No concerns - master bed is a bit uncomfortable but not a big deal and downstairs is musty but I think this is unavoidable. Well-stocked kitchen. It is on a beautiful street but is up in the mountains- about 5-7 minutes to get to the Rumbling Bald resort area. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood (not very many houses so mostly just beautiful woods) but it is very hilly. Amenities at Rumbling Bald were great and easy to access. It takes about 20 minutes to get to downtown Lake Lure. It was a fair amount of driving but all very beautiful.

Looking for a crash pad with some extras over the long weekend and found it. The place was setup well to just bring in food, etc and be ready to cook and get some downtime. Some issues with the cleaning quality, dog toy and bone under the couch, lots of dog hair under furniture and fans needed a really good cleaning. Otherwise good. Super peaceful near end of the road and likely wouldnt stay here again as the outdoor space just wasnt comfortable and that was disappointing but also I get it if you arent there so the furniture choices have to be sparse and metal.

My sister, brother inlaw, wife, and I greatly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of our stay at the Carolina Cardinal and I highly recommend. Sitting out on the back deck was my favorite part of our vacation. I would definitely like to stay here again. Thanks

We had a nice time staying here. The property was clean and comfortable, but could definitely do with a little tlc and updating. We were thrilled with how well-stocked the house and kitchen were. Overall, we had a great stay!

Enjoyed a nice relaxing stay and much needed family time! Wish we could’ve stayed longer.

I must say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Cardinal property! Traveling in 30 deg weather with children we greatly appreciated coming into a nice and toasty home. I will say, the driveway was a bit misleading. It was listed as being able to fit 8 cars and we had a Ford Explorer, Stinger and an Altima and we barely fit. Also, on the very last day, our guests got locked in the upstairs room.. the door was a bit tricky. Other than that we all enjoyed our stay and would definitely consider renting again! Thank you for having us!

We enjoyed the unit very much overall BUT strongly recommend putting a handicap bar in the main floor bath room. My wife is 75 and slipped in the tub with nothing to hang on to. Her head struck the commode and left her with a large gash that required 9 staples and an MRI at the local hospital. An inexpensive handicap bar would have prevented that. Other than that it is a great place.

All is good besides the resort's customer service. Please provide internet. Phone reception is bad and it's almost impossible to go online.

Enjoyed our stay. Amenities at resort were great. Nice walks on trails nearby. Kitchen fully stocked. Overall, great long weekend to relax with family. Will be back.

Clean, beautiful home w/ best beds @ a VRBO we've been too. Love the layout of the house: 3 floors w/ bedroom & bath on each. My favorite porch was the little screened in one off the back of house. Cool, comfy weather (70's in mt.) & warmer at beach/activity area. Many activities to choose from if you don't want to leave resort. Very friendly staff. We learned we are not mtn. people bc it was too remote for us. Travelled w/ family that have chronic health conditions so receiving msg. from cell phone provider that emergency calls may not work in the area made me anxious (they seemed fine with it). GPS works when it wants & creates new routes each time (owner forewarned us to print off directions). Took us 3 days to learn route from house to activity area which is approx. 10 minute drive (I learned from other poolside traveller's this was norm & to rely on landmarks not GPS). Unable to walk or ride bikes on mt. which we like to do on vacation. Committed hikers may be able to--saw no cyclist while there. Adult daughter took motion sickness medicine to make it up & down mtn. each day bc the roads are so curvy. Cell phone reception is sporadic including text (strangely FB Messenger worked best) which made it difficult coordinating plans w/ others in our group. No landline phone provided in house (understandably) but staff mentioned most residents use those instead of cell. Plan activities ahead of travel bc off resort activities were either closed (Mon/Tues) or booked solid (zip line, ATV & golf cart rental). In past, we vacationed at places you can get golf cart when you walk up, so this was new to us. Beautiful location, many nearby activities just not for us bc of location's remoteness.

Positive experience. Great house, spacious and well-kept. Owner very responsive and helpful. Is located near top of Rolling Bald mountain... requires driving on narrow, winding roads to get to top... but worth it.

Pictures don’t do that place justice - perfect for small kids as an adventure to the mountains. Access to Rumbling Bald is icing on the cake - Fran generous to keep that priced so reasonable.

We decided to take this trip very last minute. The Resort had just opened the weekend before. Some of the amenites the resort usually offers were not available but we still enjoyed everything about our stay. We also expected as much with COVID 19. Fran was very quick with responses to any questions we had. Overall it was a very nice get away. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms all on different levels, great porches, great kitchen! The washer and dryer are really nice too. Fans in every room for white noise.

Loved the cabin. It had everything we needed. Our family of 6 was very comfortable. Great location and great host.

We had an amazing time at the Cabin. Only negative is how far the nearest store was to buy food. Overall an amazing place to stay high up in the mountains and close to the lake where you can just relax

We had a wonderful time at this property. It’s very high up in the mountains and allows for wonderful walks through the neighborhoods. Fran was great to deal with and so quick to respond to questions or concerns. There are wonderful neighbors and beautiful scenery. The house was perfect for us. Would definitely come again.

We enjoyed celebrating our 30th anniversary in this cabin. Fran was so helpful providing an email to make check-in and check-out easy. The resort staff we met were helpful with any questions we had regarding what was available in the area. The location of the cabin is perfect. The drive up the mountain to the cabin is beautiful. Due to restaurant closures we had the ease of cooking all our meals at the cabin with a well stocked kitchen. Also, Ingles Market is just a short drive. We had everything we needed. There are several levels of outdoor seating and the peace and views are so relaxing. Just what we were looking for. I would highly recommend this cabin and Fran goes above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect.
