Small but satisfactory cottage with noise issues. We found the cottage to be a satisfactory rental for our 40-day visit to Oregon. Inside the cottage was clean and ready for our arrival however the grill literally caught on fire because it was so dirty and clearly had not been cleaned in a long time (it’s clean and safe now that we cleaned it and replaced the moldy grill brush with a new one). The cottage is small but well laid out with a comfortable queen bed, decent bath, and adequate living room furniture (keep off the rickety rocking chair). The kitchen is very small and better suited for a weekend stay than a long term rental. The outdoor space is very nice and private and the carport very handy. The cottage is conveniently located for visiting the surrounding wineries and other more interesting Oregon attractions (Silver Falls, Columbia River, Tillamook, Pacific Coast, Mt Hood, etc.). There is not much of anything in the town of Carlton itself but McMinnville is an easy, short drive away and has everything you should need. There are a few thing to be aware of with this rental. Surprisingly the street noise in front of the cottage is loud and constant from about 5am to 5pm (semis, other trucks, excessively loud cars, motorcycles, and the such). This caught us by surprise since Carlton is such a small town in a rural location but the traffic noise is loud and non-stop. Also be aware that if you are here when the lawn service arrives, expect to be awakened by 7am. That’s a bit too early for lawn service to start. Overall this was a fine rental for our stay in Oregon. The issues with the cottage were not so problematic as to ruin out stay and it did make a convenient home base for exploring the area although I do think it is better suited for short term stays.

This was our first visit to Carlton, and we couldn’t have asked for a cozier place to stay. Perfect, clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with everything we needed!

This little gem was a wonderful spot to see family, taste great wines and visit all that Carlton has to offer. It’s literally surrounded by wineries and just around the corner are great restaurants and boutiques. Five stars on all except that it sits right off of a busier highway that gets noisy at traffic time but I would not let that interfere with staying there. Its just a mention if you’re looking for complete quiet. I will say that one unit has a better view of the valley so if that’s important, be sure to ask which one. Beds were comfy and lots of hot water!! Friendly neighbors too. Lots of hellos on our morning walks. Thank you Lora.

We have rented Lora’s cottage for many years on our annual trip to Carlton. The cottage is always clean and well appointed. We appreciate the welcome bottle of wine and the special touches that make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location is perfect for your trip to wine country!

This is our second time for renting this property! Lovely! Nice towels & linens! Our only complaint is that ants still seem to be a bad issue!

We had a lovely stay at the Country View Cottage. It is very close to Carlton with two tasting sites right across the street and down the road. We spent two days driving the beautiful roads of this wine region and then headed home to relax. It was great.

This was the perfect cottage for a great weekend in Carlton. Easy walk into town, and the owners were so helpful. The little deck off the back was the perfect outdoor seating spot.

Our stay was great. Close proximity to wineries & restaurants. Would stay here again.

We stayed at Country View Cottage #2 for 4 weeks. It was a wonderful location for both visiting family in Portland and Salem, as well as hiking at nearby State parks, golfing, and, of course, enjoying the wineries. Cana’s Feast across the street is fabulous! You can walk to the town of Carlton in less than 10 minutes. For a small town it offers a good variety of restaurants and wine tasting establishments. The Cottage was very clean and ample room for the two of us. The kitchen is well supplied so cooking in was not a problem. We had the pleasure of meeting the hosts Lora and Durham. They are a delight. I highly recommend cottage #2 in Carlton.
