We loved our stay at The Loft on Daufuskie Island. Mike and Joann were as nice and accommodating as possible. We loved the outside balcony/deck, and would have love it even more if the weather would have been a little warmer! The bed is comfortable, the shower powerful, and we had all of the kitchen, bath and bed accessories that we need. I highly recommend. As a bonus, Mike's woodwork in the shop below is stunning.

If you are looking for something a little different and unique, then this is the right property for you! The pictures really don't do the property justice. The "Loft" is a 5-star accommodation, and the woodshop and wine shop that are located downstairs are truly unique. The private dock is the perfect place to sit and watch the sunrise or sunset, and the Crab Company and General Store are located right next door which makes lunch, dinner, and basic provisions just a short walk away. Thank you for a great weekend getaway!

The Loft has the best location on the island! The sunset views are incredible over the Intercoastal Waterway. Mike, the host, was very helpful with cart rental suggestions and quick to respond. He made us feel very welcome. We used Rocket for the golf cart rental. He was super nice and very willing to meet our needs. We are looking forward to our next stay!!

This is truly the most charming, interesting vacation home we have ever been in! So cozy and relaxing. Daufuskie is so full of history and everyone was warm, helpful and friendly. Mike and Joanne’s place is a real treasure! Planning another trip here ASAP

The loft is a very nice place to stay. It is very clean! The dock and view are great! Michael was quick to respond if we had any questions.

The Loft was beautiful, clean, easy to stay in and near a cool area. Mr. Lotus met us and showed us around and gave us keys. Super nice. We would definitely stay here again.

Everything said was delivered. We enjoyed our stay at the loft. What a different venue the Island was very interesting and enjoyable, we explored on our rented golf cart and went horseback riding. What a relaxing getaway.

This place checked all the boxes! Great location, views, and the deep water dock was thoroughly enjoyed. The studio is beautifully decorated and the building and woodwork amazed us. Great hosts also! Would love to visit again.

The host was VERY accommodating and responsive to our inquiries during booking and oriented us to the property upon arrival. The loft is staged well and nice, if that's all you're looking for. We tried recreating the well staged photographs on the deck and dock (morning coffee, evening wine and dinner overlooking sunset). Unfortunately, the persistent gnats and biting no-see-ums (sand fleas) limited our time spent relaxing outdoors on the deck and dock. We noticed patrons and staff at the Crab Co and marina swatting and scratching, so we weren’t the only bug bait on the island. Insect repellent did not deter them. There were several other things in the description that we found inconsistent with our experience. Our impression from this listing (and other island websites) was the island would be peaceful and charming. Peaceful, yes. Charming, no. While there are pockets of beauty (the small public beach and looking away from the island), as a whole the island and our experience fell far short of expectations. (Suggest looking at other resources for more objective reviews of the island.) Winery? Lighthouse? Shops? Quaint neighborhoods? Lower your expectations.

Just make sure to bring items you want with you, island does provide for the basics.

Was meet with a smile on day one and was told treat this place like it’s yours and if we needed anything in reference to the home or anything on the island to just call his personal number. Made us feel like long time friends and family. Very laid back and peaceful place to stay even with it being memorial Day. We will be back soon.

This place was awesome. The loft was exactly the same as the pictures! The sunset views every evening were spectacular. Our first trip to the island and the chill vibe of the island was what we needed!

Wonderful place to stay to soak in the island experience!

My wife and I wanted a different and relaxing vacation that was memorable for our 30th anniversary. We got it. Daufuskie Island and Mike's place were perfect. The island is under developed with limited resources so you are not resorting but it is truly relaxing and enjoyable for people who do not need a high speed resort vacation. Mike's loft also helps with stunning water views all day and breathtaking sunsets every evening. Containing all the basics and above to have comfortable days and evenings. His wife and he are gracious and accommodating to all needs and ensure your stay is enjoyable.. The pictures online do no justice to the location or loft you reserve. Trust me this is money and time well invested not spent. You will not regret staying in the Loft.

We had a wonderful weekend exploring the island. Wine and Woodworks was the perfect location. Mike and Joanne were great to work with and extremely accommodating.

The Loft was one of the nicest and unique VRBOs we’ve stayed in. The owner was out of town during the time of our rental but had a friend meet us at the ferry to transport us to the house (.25 miles away) and show us around. Communication with owner and owner’s friend was excellent. The rental is above a woodwork and wine (and beer) shop. We had access to the whole property including the dock. We were allowed access to the wine shop and purchases can be made on the honor system (through Venmo). Restaurant selection on the island is limited, so make sure to bring your own food to cook during your stay. The unit was nice, bed was comfortable, and the views were amazing. At the time we stayed (March), there were a lot of sand flees. So bring insect spray!

We had a great time at Wine and Woodworks. Mike was very helpful, the property is beautiful and perfect for a weekend getaway. We would definitely visit again.

We were greeted at the boat dock by Joanne who was very welcoming and accommodating. She talked with us for a while, giving us much information for staying on Daufuskie Island. She has a great notebook full of maps, local interests, restaurants (of which there are only two presently) and navigating the island. Their rental is beautifully decorated and the home itself is amazing in its architecture. We had a nice relaxing weekend!

Everything was bumped up to HD upon arrival. Pictures simply cannot capture the quaint yet timeless and minimal yet everything you need reality of the loft! Just do yourself A favor and if it’s available book your stay!

Great location.

My husband and I just recently purchased a boat. We wanted to go somewhere to be able to include using the boat. We had heard of Daufuskie and how beautiful it was. I found Mikes loft that has a dock right on the intercostal water way. The pictures do not begin to show you how truly beautiful this place is! The loft truly exceeded our expectations. Mike was such a great host to work with. His wood working shop below the loft is absolutely amazing to see. We had a great time at the Daufuskie Crab Company that is next door. The food is good and it’s a great place to mingle with the island locals and the other island visitors. Don’t hesitate to book the Loft you will not be disappointed! We plan to work in an annual visit to the loft. Thank you Mike for your great hospitality and sharing your piece of Heaven with us. You are truly Blessed to have such a beautiful place. Everything about the place is amazing. Starting off the dock is great! We brought our boat and It’s right beside the marina so you don’t have to worry about the wake beating up your boat since it’s in a no wake zone. The dock bumpers are amazing as well! The yard, building, loft l everything is exactly like the pictures. Simply beautiful. Since it’s right beside the marina you can sit on the balcony and watch all the action while listening to music from the marina restaurant. It was fun exploring the island by golf cart and hanging out at the beach. We brought our own breakfast to cook and there were plenty of dishes/utensils to use. We had a great weekend, Mike and Rocket have A+ communication and I could tell by talking to island residents that we were staying at one of the best places on the island! Cant wait to come back!
