The Mountain Shadow Retreat was extremely accommodating for our family of five, and honestly can accommodate ten people very comfortably. The house is closer to the South Fork River than it appears in the pictures and the sound of rushing water can be heard quite nicely from the two back bedrooms. Absolutely gorgeous area with plentiful lakes and hiking trails. Property management is top notch (5/5 stars), they certainly want you to enjoy your stay. We wouldn’t hesitate coming back to this home.

Well equipped kitchen and outdoor grill. Beds were comfortable with high quality linens and towels. House was spotless and gave a warm feeling as a home away from home. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space to socialize or to find some privacy. Nice fishing opportunities in the back yard; the 4 of us enjoyed success in catching and releasing nice size trout during our week stay. Management company was a pleasure to work with and followed up after our arrival to make sure we were finding everything to our satisfaction. We had 2 young male deer visit with us briefly. For fly fishermen, location is convenient to a number of local streams. Much better service and lower fee structure than the other major vacation rental firm.

My family had an excellent stay here on our ski vacation. The home is very well maintained and clean. All appliances and fire places were in working order. We did not encounter any problems during out stay.WiFi gives ~ 20 Mbps download in the living room. Good Verizon cell coverage. I would definitely love to come here again and recommend to others.

We loved this house! Sitting on the deck in the morning, drinking coffee and listening to the river was the perfect start to our day. Relaxing in the hot tub was the perfect ending…. The kitchen was the best equipped kitchen of any place I’ve ever rented, and I’ve rented a lot. There were lots of little things that really added up to a wonderful stay. The beds were firm but not too firm and we slept great. We will definitely be renting again next year when we come back!!

We spent four nights at this house with 12 of our extended family members, all of which slept comfortably. (Three kids and nine adults, ranging in ages from 6-73). The weather was perfect, the house was clean and tidy, and we appreciated what the owners have to offer. The backyard is ideal, and we enjoyed fishing in the river. It’s an easy drive to Creede, Pagosa Springs, and other nearby places. We’ll definitely come back!

It was a awesome house with a great location. We enjoyed listening to the river every morning and evening sitting on the deck with the warmth of the fire pit built into the pub table. We rode our utv about everyday with all the trails around. We rode over 300 miles this week and didn’t see everything so we’ll definitely be back again and we’ll plan it so we get this same house if possible. My whole family loved the house. There was 7 of us staying there so the 4 bathrooms was nice each couple had their private bathroom and bedroom. If I had one request (not a complaint at all) would be put a queen bed up in the loft and remove one set of the bunk beds so when it’s all adults they all have a big bed to sleep in. But we managed fine and had an awesome time.

We absolutely loved our time here! The cabin was perfect for our family! We loved sitting on the back porch while drinking our coffee and listening to the river. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, the location was perfect! And the cabin had everything! So many sweet details! We truly loved every minute of our time at this beautiful cabin!

We could have not pick a perfect spot. The home had everything we could possibly need for a family get together. The sound of the River in the morning drinking a cup of joe was the most relaxing experience for me. The home was close to many activities which my kids had something planned for everyday. I would definitely recommend this. Thank you for a memorable vacation.

This property was absolutely perfect and a wonderful family getaway. This riverside home is peaceful and beautiful with every detail well thought out…from the three bedrooms on the main level with king sized beds and heated adjustable mattresses!!…to the large walk-in showers and enough bathrooms for everyone! The theater room was a hit with the teenagers. The family loved hanging out every morning by the river fishing and sitting by the fire pit at night. The hot tub was so relaxing and electric cover was convenient. The cute welcome bag waiting for us on the counter was so thoughtful. It was too hot for us to use the in-floor heat while we were there, but if we’re looking forward to it if we ever come back in the winter. Can’t wait to go back:) Thank you!!

Hands down, this was the BEST house & vacation our family has had! The house came with everything you could possibly need & was absolutely perfect!! We will be going back as often as we can because we were all extremely sad to leave. 110% the best place we have ever stayed. Also have to say, one of the biggest reasons this was the best place is because of Matthew! He was so accommodating and like dealing with a family member. I just can’t say enough!!

We rent houses through VRBO all the time, this was one of the best houses we have stayed in. Layout was great for multi family, large living area, use of garage and large decks. Very convenient to Wolf Creek and trails. We will stay here again for sure!

We had a great stay - great house for several families. Pleasantly surprised at the toys and books available for the kids and the kitchen had everything you could possibly need to feed a large group.

This review is for the amazing JoyceAnn! This property unfortunately had some maintenance issues prior to our arrival. JoyceAnn was diligent about getting ahold of me, which was no easy task. She set us up with an alternative property prior to arrival that was still perfect for our large group of family and friends. I highly recommend working with her team any time!

We had a fun time at South Fork for an annual ski trip. This house lays out well with quality bedding and bathroom arrangements. The kitchen is also well equipped for any chefs in the mix. The property is also well maintained and kept very clean.
I would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I brought our families to stay here for a ski trip at Wolf Creek, and the house was perfect for us! We had plenty of space, and we were all comfortable. I would highly reccommend this property to anyone going to South Fork.

We three families planned our ski trip to wolf creek way ahead of time. We all loved this beautifully designed house when we saw it online. When we finally made to it, we realized that this house is conveniently located, functionally well designed, well equipped more than just being beautiful and new. Needless to say about its gorgeous kitchen where we enjoyed preparing food to feed starving adults and children from their full day ski fun. The hallway connected to the spacious garage is good place to store our ski rentals and the drying rack helps a lot for a good start of next day experience. We have children ages from 3 to 14, all finding spot of interest of their own, either in the theater or a walk out side the back yard. Most of all, the project manager kept communication with us to see if we were in need of any help or suggestion. This was defintely a fabulous Christmas in Colorado. We are looking forward to come back in summer time for a diffrence exprience.

This cabin was super nice! Location was perfect. Right on the river but plenty of space for the kiddos to enjoy safely. Morning coffee on the back patio listening to the river. Theatre room was great for kids after a long day of trail riding or fishing. And a quick dip in the hot tub to relax was a nice touch at the end of the day. Plenty of parking for trucks with trailers. A real beautiful house! One of our favorite places we’ve ever stayed, we will be back for sure!!
