On the beautiful grounds of Buckfast Abbey, the Northgate Hotel is a welcoming oasis. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I’d go back in an instant!

The property was covered in unsightly scaffolding. The outside area was unkempt, tables not wiped down, unemptied ashtrays. The Receptionist wasn’t friendly. I know the check-in is 4pm, we got to the property at 2.45, and despite the place being deserted, she would not check un in until 4. That’s just pedantic.

Would definitely recommend this hotel to others and when needed will book another stay.

This was perfect for me visiting family in Ashburton. It was easy to find and park. The staff were lovely and helpful when I checked in. It helped take the stress out of the logistics. They were also very accommodating when I had to change the dates initially.

We do enjoy staying at this lovely, peaceful hotel. Just being able to walk in the grounds and visit the Abbey - but the hotel too is full of warmth and welcome. We love it….

Waited nearly an hour, far too long, for dinner to be cooked and ended up with no dinner. We were told that there was a problem in the kitchen.... Breakfast though was fantastic. Overall very good experience. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The place is beautiful.

Stunning location within the grounds of Buckfastleigh Abbey. Complete tranquility with the exception of the bells of the Abbey ringing. The hotel restaurant was superb. Accessibility for wheelchair users was exceptional. All staff were kind and courteous - nothing was too much trouble! Smooth surfaces (including the car park) made wheelchair use easy and comfortable. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and well equipped. Cannot think of any negatives, and well most definitely be returning in the future.

The property is lovely. Clean, spacious rooms. Pretty setting. Lovely decor throughout. Very nice breakfast with lots of variety. Staff very friendly and accommodating to requests. Did run out of some items at breakfast on the last day (yoghurt, pastries) as a large group came to eat together, but that was the only negative point.

New hotel adjacent to Buckfast Abbey. Excellent quality large rooms with plenty of facilities. Great shower room. Fantastic buffet breakfast.

Overall our stay was excellent. The reception staff and restaurant staff extremely helpful and polite. The food was very good but prices rather expensive. Our room was comfortable, clean and tidy, although we found it rather hot.

This is a beautiful hotel, very caring staff, double room was spacious with lots of storage and hanging facility if you were staying for more than 1 night. We were on the ground floor our ensuite had the shower option of overhead or normal shower attachment. Lovely white bath sheet and hand towel each with bath mat. Very clean throughout. The breakfast buffet for an English was plentiful, juice, yogurts, cereal, toast, tea and coffee and all cooked very well. They offer an evening meal but we we did not take up this option this time. I would highly recommend and made my husbands night as he took his telescope into the Abbey grounds.

Stayed for one night, nice room, good parking and short walk to a nice country pub.

Lovely, helpful staff and a beautiful setting, rooms well kitted out, but any noise from the corridor is really clear in the room if anyone was outside.
