Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location and amenities were great but we were never informed on how to rent the motors or pontoon. The management changed from when it was booked leading to confusion with check out times and a rather rude call from the cleaning crew ten minutes after we left. The furniture, windows and carpeting were in poor condition and very dirty. The gas oven base was curled and dangerous and the burners that worked had flame beneath the burners. Very dangerous. We were never given keys so had no way to lock the cabin when we left to enjoy the area. The carpeting continuously got caught in the vacuum. The staples on the steps to the lower level protruded and were a danger to bare feet. There was much dirt and debris beneath furniture cushions and the coffee and end table legs were unsteady. A lamp in the living room had a broken switch and no finial holding the shade. Another danger. I understand this cabin is going to be renovated in the next really needs it.

Unfortunately, the cabin is in desperate need of repair and a good cleaning. Between cobwebs, the musty smell, furniture that is falling apart and mice running around inside the cabin, by the end of the week everyone was ready to go home. Our family was disappointed as this is something special we get to do together every year. I would not recommend renting the Tamarack cabin until it is repaired or updated.

The only thing I wish they could update are the beds as they are so very uncomfortable and the walkway down to the pier is so dangerous especially at the bottom. I immediately noticed severely stained comforters, ceiling tiles falling in the entry way, THICK spider webs covering the entire outside of the cabin, spider webs in the corners of the basement stairs, bad carpet in the basement, and curtains hanging off of the rod. When you use the oven, gas comes out around the pucks (not where it’s supposed to come from). The chimney flue doesn’t stay open. The lamp pole down toward the lake smelled like it was burning. You can’t hardly see out of the windows, they’re so dirty. Instead of buying a balance that fits the kitchen window, they just cut it in the middle. How much can a new balance possibly cost? 8 plates and 9 forks for a 10 person cabin. No keys for the cabin. Loose boards on the deck. Lamps that don’t work. The fish cleaning house had no paper towels and the main drain was clogged, causing water to backup in the building. And as if that isn’t bad enough, when stripping the beds upon leaving, I noticed my pillow protector had a HUGE blood stain on it! I brought my concerns (prior to the discovery of the bloody pillow) to the management company and they still had no issue charging me the full $2310 for the unit even though no one remturnwd my voicemail about getting new comforters and discussing some of these issues — they shouldn’t even be able to RENT IT OUT! I have no idea how management, cleaning personnel, and other cabin owners allow this place to be rented out. My family has been coming to Estrolds for YEARS but due to the rapid deterioration of the resort, we’ve been trying other places every other year for the past 6. I ALWAYS try to convince my family to give them another try bc the location on the lake is the best, but the bloody pillow is the last straw. Idk why they need from 8am-4pm to “clean” When I guarantee all they do is change the sheets and swish a brush around the toilet bowl. Tak
