Exzellentes Essen und Lage. Viele Tiere zu sehen.

Alles!

Gutes Essen

Outstanding staff in all departments. Meals were unbelievably delicious whether it was the choice of game meat, chicken or vegetarian. Breakfast was excellent as well. Accommodation was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff catered to your every need and made you feel at home. We went in a successful leopard safari and were lucky enough to spot 3 leopards separately and spent quite some time viewing one up close.

The place is stunning, and the main structure is amazing. Breakfast was super good. Standard rooms are super comfortable and big, with a private patio overlooking the reserve. The afternoon tour has in our opinion 100% chance to spot a leopard, because of the very precise tracking technology they use.
Dinner has basically no choice, making it below standard for the price paid. If you come from the exciting self-drive safaris in etosha, the leopard tracking tour in okonjima may feel much less authentic and challenging. We had the feeling that the leopards are very used to vehicles and humans, and you can get so close that it almost looks unnatural.

Our stay was great. The room was great, the room was very spacious and the view was beautiful. Everybody there was very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We did the leopard tracking tour which was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide was great, his love and understanding for the nature and the animals really showed. On top of it all we were very lucky and saw different leopards that day besides different other types of game. The short self guided hikes where also great, especially those including lovely viewpoints.
not sure if the booking system was a bit crooked while fixing the stay, there was a little bit confusion about the room (which was perfectly dealt with, and everything was great) and it seemed like there might have been a chance to stay two nights as originally planned, however in the meantime we had adopted our plans.

Great ‘camp’ with an incredible staff team. Our view room was amazing - the huge picture window made you feel you were outside! Food was exceptional, particularly dinner. The leopard loop walking trail gave mesmerising views over the plains. However the BEST thing was the Leopard trekking activity- being so close to them from the safety of our safari jeep was an experience I will never forget 😊

We got a very warm welcome by all the staff while waiting for our room and choosing from the long list of activities. The room itself was with a superb view, really clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Activities and guides were from another planet and couldn’t be better. Meals were fantastic as well and could be enjoyed in a great atmosphere. It was already our second time staying here and we enjoyed it like the first one.

we really liked the terrace with sunset view, the design and decorations. big bathroom and shower, welcoming. the room is large with comfortable bed and a lot of light. we appreciated the Prosecco and the coffee & tea selection.
nothing to say about the property.
we just felt the upselling of different activities a bit forced, as well as the feedback form to be slightly intrusive. wished the final payment process of our stay had been dealt differently - particularly adding items to our final bill.

Incredible view out onto the reserve, helpful staff who look after you and fantastic game drive with Emanuel who was a friendly and knowledgable guide. Saw Rhinos, Giraffes and Leopards as well as warthogs, jackals and numerous birdlife. Dinner and it’s setting with a view onto the waterhole was just incredible. For us this was the best place in Namibia so far!

We had a great time at Okonjima and the morning game drive was fantastic

The rooms are spacious and they all have a great view (don't bother with the view rooms as all rooms have views). The staff are great and the lodge is very cosy.
There is no air conditioning so the rooms can get warm and stuffy. Lots of insects also get into the room as the windows are not that well sealed.

Okonjima Plains location was fabulous, we really felt we were in the middle of the Savannah, which of course we were and on the long road to the camp we spotted many animals (including a Warthog and her babies) it felt very special and secluded. We were allocated View room no.8 which was right at the end, yes, it was a walk to the Barn for breakfast and dinner but that didn't bother us as we had the car - the only thing was, that when it poured with rain, there were big puddles to jump over after parking the car in the allocated place and then walking to the reception/barn area. Our room was fabulous, 2 large double beds, huge shower room area, 180 degree views from the large windows in front of the beds for spotting the wildlife (we had 2 x jackals hanging out by our lodge), good tea & coffee facilities and a wonderful terrace with day bed & chairs to sit outside and enjoy the scenery - we loved it!!
The swimming pool area was also a great place to hang out, comfortable loungers with towels provided and a good size pool - also a perfect spot to watch the Southern Masked Weaver birds build their nests.
Both dinner (extremely tasty) and breakfast choices were excellent and delicious house wine a very reasonable price for a medium carafe - service too was spot on.
The night drive on our day of arrival was cancelled due to the rain (great excuse to enjoy being in our lovely room and watching the storm unfold from the comfort of our big beds), but we booked onto the very early morning Leopard tracking drive the next day, fuelled by coffee and the best freshly made, still warm muffins! Our guide was John and he was superb and what a morning we had - not only did we see Vamos and her cub, but daddy leopard also joined them for a while (a rare sighting), we followed at a good distance for quite sometime, got some great photos and then John called it and we left them in peace.
Not much! The road surface around the parking area could be improved, we had heavy rain & it got very waterlogged.

The food is very good quality and they have big rooms with views out to the park. It's a privilege to be able to stay in a game reserve. Most of the staff were lovely.
It felt very pricey for the quality of the experience (compared to other places we stayed). If you think to yourself that you are spending £200 / $200 per night donating to cat conversation and the remaining $200 ish on accommodation then I think maybe you will come away relatively happy. This is a very worthwhile cause. However, in terms of experience we couldn't help feeling disappointed. The rooms looked a little tired, decor wise. The dining experience also felt a little regimented. Food was high quality but it was limited to a set menu each day (2 choices). The bar was also limited. Every time we sat down at a table we were asked how many nights we were staying (even though you have to spend 20 minutes filling out forms when you first arrive) and you're badgered to choose what activity you are doing, what you want to have for lunch several hours in advance and so on. Maybe this suits some people it didn't feel that flexible or relaxing. At the end when you come to pay they slap on extra 'park entry fees' on top of each of the game drive costs. Why not just be upfront about this and include it in the cost of each game drive? This is an impressive place in many ways but just wasn't for us.

Although Okonjima Plains Camp is quite pricey , as soon as you arrive you can see why it’s worth it. The welcome and very personalised reception as well as the quality of everything from food and refreshments to the rooms themselves make this just about the best place we have stayed in many years of travelling. Then there is the sheer beauty of the surroundings , whether the view from your room ( we had a View room and what a view!) or the terrace for dinner and breakfast. There is a great pool area too. The highlight of course is the opportunity to do game drives in search of leopards ( we saw four ) as well as other animals including cheetahs. The reserve is vast and though some leopards are tagged the search for them can take you into very wild bush vegetation and sightings are not guaranteed. Two nights at least are essential in our view to really sense the beauty and special nature of Okonjima. Brilliant team of staff is what particularly makes this lodge so special.
It’s pretty much perfect. In high summer the rooms can get quite warm during the day as they only have ceiling fans but nights were cool even in mid January so I can see why investment in A/c maybe is not deemed a priority. The pool area was cool with good shade and the main building does have air con and is superbly comfortable with coffee available all day as well as sweet and savoury mid afternoon snacks before the game drives or other activities you can choose from. Visiting the Africat centre is really interesting.

I litteraly feel in love with this place. We only stayed for one night but it was one of the hilights of our trip.
The lodge is wonderful, beautiful decoration, furniture... The rooms are confortable, very clean and have a beautiful view outside and if you are lucky you can watch some animals from the window.
The food was very tasty, particularly the diner witch was very excellent. The staff is very kind.
We did the leopard tracking and the Africat foundation visit. Both were very instructive thanks to the guides who where very informative and nice.
If we come back, we will stay longer to enjoy even more this beautiful reserve.

Amazing rooms with great view (even standard ones), nice common territory and very good food, nice safari specialized on viewing leopards (some of them are collared)
a bit overpriced but staying for one night is worth it

We managed to see Leopards, which was great
This lodge is far over-priced.
On top of the over priced rooms, you need to pay for the drive game: when compared to others places we have been in Namibia, the price for the game drive is very expensive.
The rooms are old and should be renovated.
The food was average
The staff was not professional (the waiters in particular)

Very nice staff, very beautiful place where you can observe wild animals and very interesting activities with very competent guide (Emmanuel).
This place definitely deserves a visit.
Thank you also for your special attention for our honeymoon!
We did not stay enough time ;)

The rooms are big and spacious. We have our own building, with own car port (view rooms). 2 small double beds for two of us is lovely. just writing this review from bed as a springbok runs past outside which is pretty awesome!
The staff have all been really friendly and helpful, including coming out to great us with umbrellas for dinner as the storm raged last night (being in your own separate buildings, you head to “the barn” for the restaurant and all activities).
There’s lots of activities to choose from too so plenty to keep you occupied for a day or two.
Compared to the rest of our trip, this is expensive for what is being offered, both the accommodation and the price of the activities. However, we are on a reserve only a few hours from Windhoek and so prices may well be generally higher in the area. I didn’t do much research - just liked the website and reviews on booking.com were good (and very fairly so) so didn’t shop around for price.

We were upgraded to a bush camp suite (probably because we were on our honeymoon) and that property is amazing! Also very kind that the staff put a small bottle of champagne and some chips in our room. Beautiful chalets, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Leopard tracking the next day was awesome!
Rather expensive stay and activities.

Thank you for an amazing stay, friendly staff, superb location and divine food as well as a fine selection of wines.
The leopard tracking activity was extraordinary, thank you to John M. for guiding us to encounter leopard up-close whilst watching the sunset.
The Bush Chalets are spacious and tastefully decorated, not to mention the fantastic view. Great privacy!
A big thank you also to Carien, you went the extra mile to ensure comfort at all times.
We will be back soon for sure!
You could consider placing an aircon in the room for the hot summer months.
We only booked one night which is too short, a minimum stay of 2 nights is recommended to absorb and inhale the wonderful beauty of Okonjima.

Very lovely camp that offers great activities. It's a pity that we only booked one night.
I missed a good coffee machine ;)
