close distance to the beach and 24hr fishing pier, clean common areas and nice, clean pool. do not need a car, everything is accessible by walking (restaurants and grocery stores are 2 blocks away). rooms were clean and housekeeping was offered 3x weekly. Host was very friendly and helpful. they offered beach chairs, towels and other beach necessities.

The management/owner is AMAZING!! The room was as pictured and very clean, the grounds are manicured perfectly and overall it’s probably the tops in the area!!

the bathroom was tiny and being 6’3” the toilet is very hard to sit on without my knees touching the wall and the toilet paper roll holder is directly in front almost knocked it off the wall several times other then that small issue nothing else wrong

Having stayed here before I had no hesitation in returning. The location is excellent. It is a very short walk to the square where there are bars and restaurants and the marvellous beach and pier. Parking at the property is free, this is a huge bonus as parking in the area is expensive. My room was ideal with ensuite and a kitchen with full facilities. The pool is in an area where it sees a good few hours of sun each day. It is a quiet and relaxing place with lots of activity only a few minutes walk away. The proprietor lives on the property and is very welcoming and helpful. Suffice to say, later this year I return for four weeks and I have already booked the same room.

Great location close to the beach and restaurants even a grocery store . The size of the unit was great and very clean. The king size bed was comfortable fresh towels were available every couple of days . The grounds were lovely and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted.

The shower was a little small and the air conditioning couldn't go below 70 degrees.

We absolutely loved Lauderdale-by-the-sea! And this property offers a premium location and super easy access to the beach! Such a unique experience in Florida - being able to actually walk to places! Really nice. And the Inn itself is super charming, very well managed by Margareth (a true super host). Having a kitchenette was super handy - we were able to prepare lovely meals enjoying the common balcony (there is a Publix supermarket super close by). Go a head and book it - you won't regret!

Nothing really. If we were to point anything out, it would be that the decor is a little dated and the bathroom on the small side. But if you're not looking for a ultra modern accommodation, than it shouldn't be a problem. And it also goes well with the old Florida style of this beautiful area.

All accommodations at The Breakaway have a full kitchen and are equipped with every imaginable accessory you will need to prepare meals. Both my kitchen and bathroom had large windows looking west with pretty views. The grounds are lovely and immaculate and there are tables and BBQs available. The location is perfect, with the beach 2 blocks away, and Publix, CVS, and restaurants all within a few blocks of the Inn. As always, Margaret and her family are welcoming and helpful, offering beach towels and chairs to make guests' experience seamless.

This little jewel is actually in Lauderdale by the Sea & it is perfect for us. We taxi from the airport & then the remainder of our time we get around on foot! It is a very walkable little town. Breakaway is a smaller Inn, the owners live on property, so always available if need be. Margaret, (owner) goes above & beyond to make your stay perfect! This was our 3rd stay & definitely not our last! Beach is no more than a 10 minute walk. Plenty of seating on the grounds of the inn & tables if you choose to eat outside. The kitchens are furnished very well for making a meal inside. Also, 2 gas grills on property for your use. I could go on & on!!!!!!!!

We discovered this little jewel a few months ago & just fell in love with it! This was our 2nd stay & we have the 3rd one already on the books!! Margaret, the owner is a sweetheart, she goes above & beyond to make sure your stay is wonderful. The grounds are beautiful & so well kept, plenty of chairs to sit in. This is an older motel, but that is what we like about it, it reminds us of our stays when we were young children. Old Florida at the best! The rooms are not huge, but plenty large enough, nice little kitchen, furnished very well with utensils, plates, cookware. Also, 5 minute walk to the beach, which is GREAT!

Break A Way is a fabulous no frills place to stay. The manager/owner, I believe her name is Margaret along with her husband, is awesome. Whatever you need, they try to accommodate. We needed something fixed in our room and it was taking care of immediately.We really liked having a kitchen and table in our room. The grocery store is about a half mile from Break A Way Inn, so we went and got groceries for the week and had breakfast out on the patio. We stayed on the 2nd floor, which if you have knee problems you may want to request the first floor.

If I had to find a negative, I would say the pillows. That may be just my preference. I have went out and purchased softer pillows so if you are a person who likes soft pillows you may want to consider bringing your own or purchasing them.

Location is perfect, everything very clean and confortable. Owner is very nice and acomodating. The social areas are great for hanging out or laying in the sun. We love this place!

Enjoyed my stay at the Breakaway Inn Guest House during July 22 - 27. As the name says, it's a self-service guesthouse more than a hotel. It is located in a residential block with a number of single family homes, something which gives it a very quaint feel. My room (11) was in a detached building at ground level. It had two queen beds and a complete kitchenette, so you can prepare your own meals. The air conditioning, so very necessary at this time of year, worked great, as well as the ceiling fan. The bathroom is a bit small, with the shower stall basically occupying a corner of the bathroom. Could be an issue for larger folks. I found the room to be spotlessly clean and well maintained. I was given an assigned (free) parking space just steps from my room. The facility has a small pool, but the ocean is just a short 3 min. walk away. There are grills available in the green area in front of the guesthouse. There is a Publix Supermarket and a CVS just down the street about a 2 minute drive away, which is very convenient. There are lively bars and restaurants close by also, in case you prefer to eat out. Margaret, the owner, lives on-site and is very helpful. She made arrangements for me to have access to my room on the day I arrived since I would be arriving after midnight. Housekeeping is not being done at the moment, but clean towels are left for you in bags in front of your door, where you can leave your used towels for staff to take. All in all, I really like the Breakaway as an alternative to a more traditional hotel. The owners' pride in their establishment really shows.

We loved that is was within walking distance to the beach. We also liked that we could cook in the room and also had access to the grill.

Good family run operation. Nice change from staying at chain hotels. Liked having tile instead of carpet. Quiet families. Good kitchen area.

Small bathroom, A/C worked well but blows directly on you while sleeping. Bed could be firmer.
