C'mon a hotel in Laguna Beach! PCH! Blocks from the beach. :)

We have stayed here before, and the owners haven't even begun renovation. The facility has reverted back to old-fashioned room keys promising updates soon. But none of the outside entry doors are protected from entry from streetside. So, pools and gates from parking structure, etc. are unlocked. Our room, apparently the only room in the South building, didn't have privacy curtains. Didn't notice this little detail until after we went to bed and tried to close the curtains! Our room being at the end of the building and the hotel not having many guests, we decided not to spoil our visit, and held our complaints about lack of privacy till the morning.

The central location of 14 West Laguna Beach near the Main Beach and Downtown was excellent. We could easily walk to the HIP, and the trolley stop was right in right of the hotel. The vibe of the courtyard, which reminded us of New Orleans architecturally with its wrought-iron style, was beautiful, especially with the lush (but bug-free) planting of palms and other tropical plants. The pool was a delight to swim in, and I loved the pretty tiles and appreciated the convenient pool towels. The grounds were kept immaculately clean, but not to the point of being sterile. All staff people that we met were super nice.

The carpets in the lobby could have been cleaner.

The WiFi was abysmal. I would give this place at 10 if it weren’t for the bad WiFi. With poor cell service in the area, we had to rely on the WiFi which was so bad at less than 1mbs

I liked the pool area.

Apparently, it was in the process of changing management on the day we arrived. there was quite a bit of security which was quite uncomfortable. Our keys deactivated quite quickly. We did not have Wi-Fi in our room. Some of the staff were helpful but others were not.

The staff were excellent. Q made the entire stay!

The hotel was beautiful and walking distance from the beach and stores.
