The region is lovely, but you notice the poor economic situation (roads, buildings,…)
The trulli was in our opinion not reflecting the pictures we saw online. It was a lot smaller, the rooms were less “inviting”. In general the state of the house was poor (needs painting, mosquito nets on the doors in poor state, only 1 fan for 2 rooms,…). Equally for the swimming pool, it is not well maintained (green markings on all sides, terrace in poor condition). Water condition (ph level?) not good in our opinion. Loose dogs in the area (coming to our terrace, emptying our trash during the night) and an elderly man who works in the olive tree garden showing up all of a sudden and asking for a beer… We nevertheless enjoyed the stay, but it was not up to our expectations.

My family and I had a fantastic stay in this trullo, which has a great pool and nice rooms.
Everything was perfect and I would recommend choosing the house as holiday home for a holiday in Puglia.
4.6
The Trulli is a nice villa. Thick walls keep it cool in summer and the pool is wonderful. Enough sheets and towels are available and the house manager is prompt in his communication.
Some comments:
The description mentioned a BBQ, which was unfortunately not available. We stayed for 11 nights without a change of sheets and towels.
It is a nice place but the equipment is a bit shabby for the price. The knives in the kitchen were blunt and broken, there were no scissors and the frying pan was so damaged we couldn't use it. The pool has some algae growth.
No big issues, but for the price we expected more quality.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the villa is remote, you do need a car, and the roads are quite narrow when first approaching... but once youve navigated the roads a few time they offer little difficulty. The accomodation is charming, rustic but somehow has everything you need, the wifi is exceptional and the pool is a god send in the heat we had. 38 most days!!
The villa gives you a true puglian experience, and makes you slow down a bit, long breakfasts by the pool, afternoon swims when the heat was to much and evenings listening to crickets whilst we ate,
Our kids loved this place and often went on lizard hunts around the grounds. Places are nearby, castellena 8 minutes drive, alberbello 15, monopoli 25, locotorondo 25 etc. We didnt want to leave, and we will happily come back again if you will have us?!?!?!
Communicating was easy, we had good contact from david before we went, and on the morning he called to confirm our number was correct. Aleandro his man in italy was communicating with us and was available if we needed him, he even came to our rescue when we blew a tyre in castellena on a sunday afternoon! Thank you!

The house is situated in a beautiful landscape, absolutely private. It is a wonderful quiet atmosphere and the large pool provides refreshments in between. It's quite possible to undertake from Centrone Piccollo a number of interesting tours.

Firstly, the ‘check in’ was a disaster having been requested, just as we were about to leave our home on the Thursday, to arrive at the meeting place at 1300 instead of the arranged time of 1600. En route to the property we received a text asking ‘where are you?’ We told him we would arrive by 1530 - he changed the meeting place to the property. We arrived at the property at 1530, no sign of anybody, no mobile signal at all. Had to drive about 3 miles to obtain signal. He told us he was at the property but he had not been there when we had arrived. The meet and greet was rushed and totally unacceptable. The ‘welcome dish’ of tea bags, coffee etc. was a joke. The tea bags were actual mouldy!!
Our first impression of the trullo was one of disappointment - an unkempt driveway, untidy pool area and a hornet’s nest in the base of an olive tree, adjacent to where we had to park the car, was disconcerting. We were told that the pool had been cleaned that morning. We realised when the pool man came during the week that this was totally u true.
The trullo was quite nice but one dishwasher tablet, an almost empty bottle of gunky washing up liquid, no decent dish cloths and 1 toilet roll meant we had to buy all these items for a 7 day holiday for 2 people. Each of the bedrooms had a large chandelier with approx 20 bulbs - both had only ONE candle bulb working. The wall sconce in the main bedroom didn’t work, the bulb in one of bedside table lamps failed on the first night and there were no replacements to be found. The sockets throughout the trullo only supported lamps and had smaller pins than the adaptors we had brought. In order for us to charge iPhones, iPads etc. meant we had to purchase an adaptor with thinner pins at a cost of €25. Hairstyling items could not be used - that is, until my husband discovered that the toaster had an adaptor that we could use.
The pool area could have been very nice if tidied up, although the paving stones around the top of the pool were loose and dangerous. Also, the ladder for exiting the pool was also loose and very dangerous. Although the temperatures were in the high 20’s to low 30’s whilst we were there, the pool remained freezing cold.
One issue which worried us a great deal was that the trullo is very isolated and not being able to obtain a signal for mobile phones was a huge worry. If either of us had been taken ill, or fallen we would not have been able to contact anybody.
Overpriced!!

The Trulli itself was an experience. It was clean (a cleaner came in once a week) and had pretty much all amenities. From a location point of view, it's pretty much out "in the hills" so getting out to the next town or beach was usually a 30m drive depending on where you are headed for. Mosquitos, flies and wasps were the norm but that didn't affect us too much as we were pretty glad for a bit of peace and quiet. In fact, every morning we did get woken up by chickens crowing and once a neighbors dog even wandered into the yard. Check-in was a breeze and Alesandro (the person who checked us in) was really nice, friendly and helpful providing us loads of tips on what to see and visit. We arrived at a time when the surrounding farmland was being sowed, with the result that really fine reddish soil ended up in the pool. Alexandro made sure that the pool guy arrived promptly to get it cleared up. By the way, even the pool guy was super friendly and nice. Speaking of which, the pool definitely gets 5 stars. As most beaches get crowded pretty fast, we found ourselves spending a lot of time pool side. It's huge (abt. 5x10 m) and deep enough to swim and plunge in.
If you are looking for sandy beaches, you will need to do a little bit of google maps homework. Many of the coastal areas are rocky with sporadic beaches which in August (the time we visited) resembled more a fish market than a beach holiday. There are stretches of sandy beaches just pass Torre Canne Sud or if you are willing to drive a bit further, on the other side just north of Tarrant. On non-windy days when the surf doesn't churn up the water too much, it's just amazingly blue and clear.
What can be improved? The wireless connection was atrocious. Rural Italy is infamous for having internet connection from the middle ages but even this was a first for us. If you are looking for some digital detox, this will definitely help your cause. Also, the kitchen pots and pans have seen better days.
All in all, we had a really pleasant holiday. Many thanks to David (owner) and Alesandro.

Nice reception. We have received a clear explanation about the trullo. Trullo is spacious. Bed rooms, living room and kitchen are excellent. Swimming pool is large. Sun beds are comfortable.
Great stay for a wonderful holiday

Quiet, beautiful and relaxing
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful trullo. The surrounding olive groves and almond trees provide beautiful backdrop to this property, which is situated in a very quiet spot, but only a short drive away from the nearest town with weekly market and gorgeous Alberobello. The trullo is also in the middle of Pulia region - very convenient for day trips into numerous picturesque towns. If you're looking for a quiet holiday in the countryside, this is a place for you.

Peace perfect peace................
The trullo has a feeling of being VERY rural, but is actually only about 10 mins from Castellana, and an easy walk to the nearest Maseria Centrone Picolo (and my goodness the food was amazing there!!) We took the car up (laziness really) and the staff were happy for us to leave it overnight and collect the next day (make sure you take the torch from the trullo for your walk home!) A stay in a trullo has been on my to do list for a while and this didn't disappoint. The property was very comfortable and easily accommodated 4 adults. The location is ideal for visiting the surrounding area and further afield. Stating the obvious I know, but a car is absolutely essential! We had an epic thunder and lightening storm on day one and the trullo was struck by lightening with an almighty crack!! The whole area was out of power for 4 or 5 hours but our lovely neighbour Rocco a few minutes away gave us some candles so this was not an issue (gas hob, so we didn't starve!) I believe from speaking to him that the power can often fail when it is particularly stormy so some candles and a few more candle holders in the trullo would be nice (I do appreciate that the owners are perhaps concerned about fire hazards tho, so this may be why they aren't supplied) This is the first holiday I can remember where I didn't come home having put on half a stone and craving fruit and veg (and believe me it wasn't for lack of trying!!) The local produce is just fabulous, the local veg amazing and the meat and seafood top notch. A lot of the local restaurants have a 0km policy for produce, not as a trendy selling point, like some other places I have been, but just because that is what they do here.
David was fantastic in the run up to our holiday. Nothing was too much trouble, and the deluxe hamper and wine and beer pack waiting for us, as arranged, meant we could completely chill for the first couple of days. The meal left in the fridge was a Godsend due to our flight being delayed (tho I must confess, there was so much that it also gave us lunch the next day!) An absolute 5 star service, that could not be faulted and made us feel very special. I am VERY picky when it comes to accommodation and a few small tweaks would take this review from 4 star to 5 star. The roofing over the outside dining area still lets rain through (would have been nice to sit out and stay dry even if raining) and the screening to the side needs to be stronger. (As I said VERY picky! Fabulous holiday tho)

Lovely property in a beautiful location
It was lovely to stay in a trullo. The property is equipped with everything you need and the pool was just perfect for cooling down on a hot July afternoon. The owners, David and Andrew, answered our queries promptly and replaced broken fans the same day we reported them. We were also grateful to Aleandro, who helps with the property, for his recommendations for places to visit and eat. There are plenty of local hill top towns to visit, including the beautiful Alberobello and Locorotondo.
The property is off the beaten track, though there are one or two "neighbours". I would warn tall people that the doorways in the property are low - it being a traditional trullo.
I would certainly recommend the property.

This trullo was just what we were looking for. It sits in the middle of olive fields down a country lane well off the main road. The only noise you hear are the birds, bees, crickets, the occasional noise from farmers working in their fields and the occasional car passing on the lane. The trullo is spacious, well equipped, has a lovely pool and is great if you want peace and tranquility, however, it is not far from the lovely towns and historical sights which dot Puglia. The owner is friendly and aleandro who looks after the place is very friendly and helpful. I certainly would recommend this accomodation.

A characterful Trullo amongst the olive groves
We had a fantastic holiday at Trullo Casolare - it was the perfect place to stay. The property is full of charm and has everything you could want when you are on holiday. It is totally secluded and surrounded by olive, almond and fruit trees. The swimming pool was a total luxury, and it was beautifully maintained every few days during our stay. We also appreciated the change of bedlinen and towels at the end of our first week. The property is in a great location for exploring Puglia; Alberobello is about a 10 minute drive away and you can get to the beaches within half an hour and there are many other small towns to explore within easy driving distance. Thank you for a wonderful holiday and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Relaxing and interesting stay in an excellent property
We spent two weeks at this trullo and agree with all the other reviews that it is a beautiful property in a lovely quiet location, surrounded by olive groves and orchards. Staying in such an old, characterful property with such a quirky design was fab. The interior stays cool and the beds are extremely comfortable. The pool and outside area are perfect for relaxing and taking meals under the shady covered area. There is almost total privacy and it's only a short drive into either Arborebello or Castellana for supplies or meals out. Although we ate in and barbecued most nights we tried the Osteria Carosena in Castellana which was recommended by previous guests and it was excellent. The little quiet roads around the house are lovely for an evening walk or a morning run, depending on how energetic you are! The pool is a good size and well maintained. The beaches are only half an hour's drive away and there are plenty of very photogenic little white walled towns for a wander. Matera's sassi cave homes are an hour away but are worth driving to see. Overall we'd highly recommend this holiday home as a good centre for visiting and discovering Puglia as well as relaxing.

Just what we needed
We have just returned from a short break in Puglia and stayed here. It was a perfect base for a few days of relaxation and exploration of a part of Italy to which we had never been before. We enjoyed excellent weather and were able to spend days by the pool as well as doing some sightseeing in Matera, Alberobello and Lecce. Travelling down to the coastal towns for evening dinner was delightful too. Car hire was required for us to make the most of the experience. The accommodation was clean, the welcome friendly and the surroundings delightful and characteristic of the area. Ideal!

Excellent property - well equipped, with a fantastic pool.
We had a lovely break at Trullo Casolare. The property was well located, in peaceful surroundings. We all loved staying in the property, which was sympathetically restored. The pool was excellent, and was well used given the beautiful weather.
Many thanks to David for his welcome and assistance during our stay.

Beautiful trullo
We stayed in this wonderful trullo for 10 nights and had a fabulous stay. It is very private and surrounded by cherry trees. The pool was fantastic and we spent most of our afternoons cooling off in there after a morning of visiting the local attractions and markets.
Would highly recommend for a relaxing holiday in the Italian countryside whilst being a short drive from lovely beaches and towns.

Fantastic property - one of the best we have hired
This property was everything we hoped it would be. We stayed at end of August for 2 weeks; 2 adults and 2 children (age 8 & 11). Would agree with all the positive comments others have put. Here are the highlights for us:
- The building is beautiful and the setting is very peaceful, surrounded by farmland and no adjacent properties. Its would be tricky to find, but the agency will meet you nearby and guide you through the country lanes
- Despite that, the nearest towns and supermarkets are a ten minute drive away. You'll also find many great restaurants in Castelle Grotte and Alberello
- Alberello in particular is stunning. The locals caves are worth a visit and we also tried the local, small waterpark which wasn't too busy even in August. Ostuni is a bit further away (30-40 mins) but is also well worth the trip
- Although no aircon the thick walls and fans made sure it was never too hot inside.
- The swimming pool seemed huge. This was a big plus for us - so much better than the usual size pools you get. Also, while one end is deep, there is a platform around the edge that means little ones can get to the side and stand on the ledge. Like us, you probably haven't considered how useful this can be for children, but it made a big difference for our youngest.
- We had great communications from the owner before we traveled; very comprehensive directions and guidance which is also in the house when you arrive. Also responded quickly to any questions we had as well
- Importantly, when something went wrong it got fixed. We experienced an intermittent problem with hot water which happened over Italian Public Holiday. Stuff happens, but this could have been a disaster. However, the quick response from the agency and owner meant this was fixed within 48 hours and the shower was transformed as a result.
This is a great part of Italy, not too over-run with tourists. I would thoroughly recommend this property to a family of similar age and size. Thanks to David and the Perfect Puglia team for giving us some great memories.

Your own little piece of Puglia
Spent a wonderful 10 days in this idyllic trulli surrounded by olive and fruit trees.
It's a way off the main road so very grateful to have been met by the management company a few miles away and then 'escorted in'. Once there you can choose to simply laze by the amazing large pool (which is kept very clean by regular visits from the pool cleaner) or visit nearby Alberabello village and Castellana Grotte caves (both well worth a visit) and the local beaches (approx 25 min drive away) Would be a great base to explore further afield in the day too, as we had planned to do but once there opted to stay round the pool more as it was a perfect setting to while away the hours and totally relax.
A well equipped house, maintained to a high standard and very clean. The welcome pack was a lovely touch, (especially the prosecco! ) and very useful to have both bath and pool towels provided. Very comfortable pool bed chairs and a great shaded outdoor dining area. Wifi was incredibly reliable and speedy.
Only disappointment was that the 'walk to' restaurant only opened on days when they had enough bookings, so ended up eating in more than we had planned, but even this wasn't a problem as there is a great sized BBQ and lots of amazing italian food to choose from at the local supermarkets.
Would definitely recommend a stay here if you want a 'get away from it all' holiday with the option of being a short drive to tourist areas, beautiful towns and beaches and want to experience something a bit different to an average villa.
Should also be said that David was a great owner who was quick to reply to emails and queries. Many thanks

What a blissful stay.......
My husband and I have just returned from a truly wonderful stay. David and Andrew couldn't make you feel more welcome at their beautiful Trullo. We were met by the lovely Alison, who showed us around and explained everything. The Trulo is fabulous, in a beautiful, quiet, secluded position. The pool is great, we were blessed with fantastic weather and although we spent most of our time at the Trullo; when we did go out for the day, it was great to just come home and dive in!! There's everything you need there and the town/supermarkets are just a 10-15 minute drive. So many fantastic places to visit, beautiful beaches, markets, restaurants, caves - all within easy reach - but you do need a car!! Even in 40 degree heat, the Trullo stays cool, we had a BBQ most evenings, but there are some excellent local restaurants nearby should you want to eat out. We cannot wait to return!!

Beautifully secluded trullo
We had a wonderful week at Trullo Casolare. Beautifully secluded but still close to town and well located for plenty of day trips in the area. The trullo was perfectly set up including a welcome pack of food and water. The outside area is equally great, a large swimming pool surrounded by cherry trees and a great little bbq. David and Andrew clearly take great care of the property. We would love to return and would certainly recommend Trullo Casolare.

Beautiful
This Trullo is just beautiful. On our arrival we were 5 hours late due to Air Strikes, so didn't arrive until 11pm, but Alison still met us and showed us around.
David was extremely helpful and very quick with responding to any questions.
There was a beautiful food package left for us which made our next morning a lot more pleasant. It is located in the middle of nowhere which is just heaven when you are getting away from a busy life at home.
The pool was immaculate and was cleaned a couple of times while we were there. The Trullo is decorated to a high standard and makes you feel at home. It has everything you need for a weeks stay.
We ate the majority of nights using the BBQ with food we bought from the local supermarket, but we did venture out a couple of times. One night we ate at a place called Leccio or something like that - absolutely amazing and so cheap. We had the restaurant to ourselves. The final night we went to Villa Maria and too had the restaurant to ourselves. This food was unlike anything in England, so fresh and delicious.
We went to the beach a couple of times - Torre Cannes. The beaches along the road north of Torre Cannes we found were a lot more secluded then the ones in the main centre.
Overall we had such an amazing week, if only we could have stayed 2 to explore more.

A wonderful home for the perfect holiday
Everything about Trullo Casolare is even better than the listing details. Although only 10 minutes from the town, it is in a wonderful quiet location, with lovely views, surrounded by olive, almond and (most deliciously) fig trees. Everything about the property is a delight from the welcome pack to the fluffy towels. David and Andrew are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They came up with some great ideas, even on top of the information pack provided. Being new to the region everything was exciting. But do not miss the Trulli of Alberobello or the city of Matera, both world heritage sites. Most restaurants are wonderful, the wines are tremendous, be prepared with elastic waistbands!
Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Total relaxation in a trullo
A terrific thunderstorm on our arrival did not deter our excitement at spending a week in the luxury and absolute quaintness of Castellana Grotte. We were warmly welcomed by David and Andrew and presented with a delicious foody welcome pack. The trullo is so delightful and unique, the pool is a welcome relief after spending time in the glorious sunshine and the barbecue area is a great way to end a perfect day.
