Villa is lovely. Communal space inside is great and bedrooms nicely laid out and comfortable. Raquel welcomed us on first day and went through everything we needed. Lots of thoughtful touches and loads of info on places to visit. We arrived in the area early and were able to leave our luggage until the villa was ready for us to check in. Bbq area and courtyard were lovely. Pool is not huge but big enough for a nice cool dip on a hot day. Lots of loungers available and a mix of sunny and shady areas within the courtyard. A good time was had by all!

The property is lovely and near Banyoles Lake which is a really nice place to visit. There are plenty of places to go out and visit such as Girona and the Dali museum in Figueres. Raquel our host was really helpful and helped arrange a trip to a vineyard and to the Dali Museum. The service that she provides is really good and helped make the stay better - Thanks Raquel!

We are a three generation group of 10 (ages 14-73) This beautiful house suited us perfectly. There was plenty of space to be together and places for quiet time. It was perfectly maintained and well equipped. We prepared many meals with no problem, including a few on the grill (charcoal). The two large refrigerator/ freezers were wonderful. Beds were comfortable and showers were excellent. The pool and the ping pong table got a lot of use. And the large kitchen table was a wonderful and spacious gathering place. Raquel and her family were very attentive and answered all our questions promptly both before and during our stay. There were also binders prepared offering a wealth of information on the area and places to visit. There is a bus stop within easy walking distance which we used to go to both Barcelona and Girona. We had rental cars and visited many other places in the area. Rental of both a road and a mountain bike kept two people busy and offered challenging rides. Eat Sleep Cycle in Girona was a great choice for rental. Our runners/ walkers enjoyed the Via Verde and loops around the lake. We enjoyed being in Mata/ Banyoles as we got a good feel for life away from tourists. It was a great place to head in all directions to visit everything the area has to offer. From the moment we booked this lovely home, Raquel reached out to us to assist us with any questions we had, arranged for travel, massages, bikes being delivered, ordered and delivered two beautiful birthday cakes, and gave us lots of details for places to explore! Raquel and her mother greeted us at the bus stop in Mata, shared their family home & history, and even drove us to the local store to pick up needed groceries. Their home is beautiful, clean, and welcoming, plenty of space for our 95-year old father all the way down to our youngest grandson, age 10. The pool and outside area was an amazing spot to unwind, so peaceful. We loved all of our shared family time around the large kitchen, walking to stores in Mata, taking a walking path to Lake Banyoles, learning how to navigate the bus to Barcelona and Girona was easy! Our diverse group had an excellent experience in this historic property that was perfect for all our activities; mainly road biking and sight seeing. Lots of well furnished indoor and outdoor spaces, great pool, patio, BBQ and secure bike lock up. Raquel who manages this family property provided constant, exceptional advice and support ensuring we maximized our time to the fullest. We could not have had a better holiday!

You're always a little wary that the photos of a property have been taken on the sunniest day when the pool had just been cleaned and the house just painted, so you hold your breath a little when you take those first few steps into your vacation home. For us, the reality was even better than the pictures. Can Xargay was the perfect location for our family to get together after more than 5 years apart. There were grandparents, siblings, partners and children, 15 in total who stayed various amounts of time over a 2-week period at the house. We all had room to live, eat, hang out and have fun without being on top of each other. Let me start with the outside space. The pool was perfect. The kids spent most of every day in the pool playing and having fun. The deep end was always shaded which gave some relief from the sun and the fence and gate provided a deterrent from eager early morning swimmers. The adults had many evening snacks and drinks at the long picnic table beside the pool. Allowing us lots of room to sit and catch up while keeping an eye on the pool. The sun loungers and chairs along with stone benches in the courtyard provided lots of space for reading and chilling during the sunny days for all the family. Inside, the kitchen was huge. The long table allowed everyone space to make and eat their own food while being social and sharing. It was the hub during the day, with many cups of tea and coffee spent sitting on chairs and chatting. The sitting room off the kitchen was beautiful. Again, a lot of room and air conditioning along with the huge tv (which we never turned on) but allowed everyone some downtime in comfort. The table tennis table in the games room also got a good workout and one of our younger ones produced many restaurant meals from the play kitchen there! Upstairs the bedrooms were all really good with some really nice touches to enjoy. The beds were comfortable and there were lots of bathrooms. We walked to the local bakeries and coffee shops nearly every day and the supermarkets were super close as well. We spent an evening and a few days in the town of Banyoles which is really nice and had lunch at a restaurant on the lake which was stunning. I will recommend this place to anyone who is looking for somewhere stress-free to stay and I think I may actually be back myself. The location was perfect for Girona, Figures, Cadaques and the beaches and water parks. All in all, a perfect house for a fabulous holiday.

The owners of this property were especially attentive to our needs and requests. As this was our first time using Home Away, this high level of service gave us much confidence. The house is well appointed and plenty of room for our group of 12. The games room was a great hit as was the lovely swimming pool. Local knowledge and advice on places to visits, where to get coffee and cake and help organising a birthday cake to be made was so helpful. It is a short walk to local amenities and the beautiful lake and public transport is good, which means a car is not absolutely necessary. We would highly recommend this property.
