Just what we were looking for , but the key was very sticky and took us a while to open the door. Recommended otherwise if you need a place in town.

Awesome accommodation, very close to city center, shopping and dining. Spacious, loved the balcony, and had everything we needed including a washer/dryer combo that saved us from searching out a laundry mat. Thanks for having us!

This was just what we needed in Akureyri. Just the right size, accommodations, and perfect location within walking distance to everything we needed downtown. Owner was easy to reach with questions and gave very prompt replies.

Nice central location in downtown Akureyri. Clean apartment with all modern conveniences. Had some trouble getting keys to work in door, and neighbors renting the unit below tried to unlock our door, not knowing which apartment was theirs since they also had trouble unlocking their door.

We wanted to love this place. It's very cute, but there were also so many small annoying things, many of which could be easily remedied by the owner with better communication, that it added up to an incredibly frustrating stay. First, it's tricky to get in. The keys are touchy and there's no direction on which key is for the outer door and which is for the inner door, or which way to turn the key for entry. This is most problematic for the apartment entry; we were afraid it didn't work. I believe pulling in on it helps, but can't remember for sure. Also, the description says it's on the top level and you will need to go up to the third floor. It's hard to tell that that's the door you need initially because the entry is small. Once we made it into the house there was no internet, and the welcome letter we got stated that there was no internet. There was also no sheet on the pull out bed for the bedroom, so I had to walk into town to message the owner. The did not know why the internet wasn't working and basically told us that it should be, and that there should be a sheet on the bed. Of course there wasn't. They did eventually tell us how to access a linen cabinet but we finally figured out the Wifi on our own the next day by restarting the Modem but I had to walk back and forth to downtown carrying my laptop to communicate with the host and to do some work that I had planned to take care of during our stay. Frankly, it felt like we were a bother. It did take us a second try to find the sheet in the cabinet, but it was on the floor in a corner and it was late and we were exhausted and we shouldn't have had to search. Finally, my son realized he didn't have his wallet when we were a couple of hours from the house and not able to return because our rental car needed emissions servicing or it would no longer turn on. My son was pretty sure he left his wallet in the apartment and the host said that they would check when the cleaner came. We told them we were leaving the country in two days and asked if they could send it and we would pay the cost and for their trouble. Then we heard nothing for 36 hours. I realize that my son forgetting his wallet is not their responsibility, but it's a very stressful situation so the courtesy of letting us know that they hadn't found it would have prevented a lot of stress. Finally, the apartment is quite small. You don't really have room for suitcases if you have four people and are using all three beds.

This adorable apartment RIGHT in the center of the city was perfect. Finding the keys/parking/accessing the property was simple and straight forward. The apartment was comfortable and clean. The ideal location and stay for our family of 4. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed this classy and stylish suite in a super convenient location - short walk to everything! The suite looks sparkling new and even comes with a dishwasher. The bed and sofa bed were super comfortable and the space had ample room for 3 adults with our ton of luggage ;0. You do have to carry your suitcases up a lot of stairs as this is a loft apartment but with our average fitness it still wasn’t too hard. Parking is excellent, right in front and marked with the building number. Even when the store on the lower floor of the building was open for customer parking, there was still at least one space available for us.As the suite is a loft apartment, please be aware that it has slanted ceilings and may not be suitable for taller people (over 6 feet tall). We are all 5’ 11” and under and did not have a problem with the low slanted areas. I actually really liked the slanted ceilings as they add to the character of the place, a true loft experience :)The area is fantastic for exploring, Akureyri town is more scenic than Reykjavik. Phenomenal attractions are a short drive away: we went to the hot spring pools at Myvatn nature baths, and Geosea (Geosea is out of this world fabulous!) and we explored Husuvik and the Hvellir geothermal area (the boiling mud pots are cool!). There are a lot of boat tours in the area for whale watching and such. Will have to do that next time ;)The apartment host, Thorbjorg has superb communication with guests - she is seamlessly prompt and thorough with the check in and check out info., best host we’ve come across on our trip to Iceland!

We absolutely loved this apartment...Location to restaurants and shops was perfect...Just a short walk and you have tons of things to do... Apartment was the perfect size and supper cozy...we made breakfast each day there which made it very convenient...We loved all the bakery's and coffee shops as well... Super close to Godafoss falls and all the other sights... Careful with parking...most spots are 1 hour parking starting at 10am to 5pm...You can park overnight in those spots but make sure you move your car by 10am or mark on a piece of paper that you parked at 10am and put on dashboard...that will give till 11am to move it. Most the shops have a paper clock you can use to note the time you parked...The parking people start checking the lots at 10am for these notes or clocks...Tickets can cost up to $100 USD...A friendly local man told us right when we parked the first night how it all works... Thanks for a wonderful stay...

We had a wonderful four nights' stay in the apartment and felt at home straight away. Ideally situated in the centre of the town close to shops, bars, restaurants and the marina for whale watching. Many thanks Thorbjorg. Please note: We found that pulling the doors towards you whilst unlocking worked well!

Well appointed, half a block to downtown, clean, excellent rental

Centrally located attic apartment, ideal for exploring Akureyri and the surrounding areas. Lovely clean property with all needs catered for. Will be recommending this to friends and family as we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was always good to come 'home' to a comfy bed at the end of a busy day touring and sightseeing. Just a couple of minor comments which didn't take away from a fantastic holiday - slight confusion with check-in time, despite a message being sent to the owner prior to arrival and only one of the four keys allocated to us actually worked, with a little persuasion.

Everything was great! The door is hard to open so you have to work with the key for a while. There’s no WiFi but there’s a cafe a block away that works. Great location, perfect for couples, very clean, and perfect sized!

We really enjoyed our stay in this comfortable little flat (it appears small, but had plenty of room for a family of four with two big teenage boys!) in the center of town. My only suggestion would be to perhaps have a book of instructions on how to use the stove, etc. (although we did muddle through without too much difficulty). The flat is cozy and we felt right at home, thank you so much for sharing it with us!

The apartment worked well for our small family. It was really clean and easy to get in and out by car or on foot. Great communication and wonderful layout. Perfect place for us!

Clean and comfortable apt on the third floor. It took us a while to find it because the streets seem to have changed. Host answered quickly when we couldn't get in. Wish there had been another saucepan and directions for the oven/microwave but we figured it out. Missed having wifi.

After nearly a week in the South, we finished our visit to Iceland in the North. Akureyri is a great little city with much to offer and close to the awesomeness that is North Iceland. This apartment was clean, roomy and located a few feet from the City Center and within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and waterfront. I would rent this place again in a heartbeat if in the North again. While my 20-something kids were annoyed by the lack of wifi, that is the only negative I could come up with. Loved it. Thanks.
