The lake is beautiful and the wrap around porch is the place to be. Enjoyed playing pool and hiking in nearby state park. Leaves starting to change and had crisp fall weather. Very quiet. Close to stores and restaurants.

This is a delightful log cabin with a fabulous porch overlooking the lake and sunrise views. We began each day on the State Park trails (minutes away), rented a boat a mile up the road, and enjoyed the views from the dock and back porch. Owners sent a note in advance with detailed information about the house and area - I look forward to returning.

This cabin is just perfect for a family get away. I am a cook and the kitchen set up was great including a great selection of herbs and spices. Fishing was great and just everything about the cabin is warm and inviting.

Wonderful rustic property with excellent lake access and views - a true authentic cabin on the lake. But...critters (squirrels or mice, not sure) were in the space between the downstairs ceiling and the upstairs floor. And those critters were very active between 9 and 10 pm, then again between 4 and 6 am, which definitely interrupted our sleep. I notified the owner during our stay and he acknowledged the situation. (I expected owner to offer a little $$ relief on the rate given the situation but no such luck.) You'll love this cabin if you don't mind sharing it with a few furry friends.

This is a beautiful log cabin, in the woods and on the lake. Great views, private, perfect for our 25th wedding anniversary trip.

Great view and comfortable house! Amenities were fun and we enjoyed the view from the windows even on a cold, windy day. Being Dog friendly is wonderful, we would love to visit again!

What was originally supposed to be an adults only trip turned into adults plus dog and then adults plus dog plus kids on a different date. At each step the owners were very responsive and accommodating to the changes. The cabin was perfect! It is tucked away on a small peninsula of the lake and is very quiet but still only a 5 minute drive to the state park or a country store. We were very happy and plan to book again this summer. 5 out of 5, can't say enough good things!

We absolutely adore this place for our family Christmas. We've been there for 64 degree days and 7 degree days. Both lovely, both joyful, both memorable. We are so thankful for this welcoming and warm cabin.

Log Haven is on a very quiet street, right on Smith Mountain Lake. The views from the cabin were stunning. We have a wonderful time and hope to go back!

The cabin is comfortable, and its private access to the lake, including a wooden dock, made it fun to stay at and canoe on Smith Mountain Lake. The location is excellent, just 20 min away from Food Lion and only ~10 minutes away from the State Park, its sandy beach, and its fantastic hikes. The cabin has all it needs (pool table in the basement, life jackets, hot tub), and plenty of space for the two of us, our son, and our golden retriever. In March, it was very quiet (even though we stayed here during Spring Break), and very relaxing. Now we are curious to experience it during the summer and get a chance to swim in the lake.

We had a great time while staying in this awesome property. We love the views, amenities, and coziness of the cabin. Thank you for making your property available for our special occasion. It was worth the trip.

The property was absolutely gorgeous just as the photos showed. Do note that bring your own food would be advisable unless you want to spend some time travel to locate places because things are a good way away from the cabin but so worth it. Only reason that a 5 star was not given for communication with property manager was because we couldn't figure out how to turn the hot tub jets off and a message was left on Saturday evening and the call was return on Monday or Tuesday which our stay was over. Our only regret was that we were only there for a weekend. :(

This cabin was truly the best of both worlds. I had the perfect cabin feel with one of the most amazing views I have ever seen. While maintaining the rustic feel it also hade all the amenities one could ever ask for. We ill definitely be going back.

The view was amazing. The cabin and atmosphere was just was we needed. So relaxing.

We visited Nov 2022 and loved our long weekend in the cabin. The location is perfect, and the house of lots of equipment and amenities to enjoy - like a pool table, kayak, games. We particularly enjoyed breakfast and coffee on the deck above the boat ramp, overlooking the lake.

We had a great stay and the views from the cabin were the best part.

We very much enjoyed our stay at this beautiful log cabin home. Views were amazing, furniture and beds comfortable and the owners were very responsive to every question. Cocktails on the porch and games on the upper deck of the dock were gorgeous! If you have your own boat to bring, the water at the dock is plenty deep enough. We'd definitely book this cabin again!

The home and outdoor areas were nice/ as expected based on property listing. The pros: There was plenty of options for outdoor seating in the dock, patio and wrap around porch. The properties owners were also were very thoughtful in providing lifejackets and floats for the water. The kayak was also awesome to have to for fishing and tooling around the lake to explore. The cons: water was difficult to access for young children, we have a toddler and the stone steps and overall depth of water proved difficult for us. The house was dirty in general. When we arrived their was urine in the main level toilet with the seat left up. There was dog hair all over the comforters and rugs. When I attempted to use the vacuum to clean so my toddler could play on the floor the vacuum canister had legit never been emptied. There was so much dirt in it that it started backing up into the vacuum itself forcing me to use a knife to clean it out. Not something you want to do on your vacation. There were water bottles and food wrappers under the couch/beds. Dust and spider webs every where. We live on 20 acres in rural OHIO we are familiar with the battle against spiders but it was evident in the Charlotte’s Web type cobbwebs on the mantle good night lamp and shades that the cleaning crew doesn’t touch them when cleaning. Gross. Last but not least the beds were very uncomfortable. My husband, who is a marine deployed several times sleeping on the desert floor, likened them to sleeping on 2x4 lumber. Note if you opt of a king bed in the tree top room it’s two twins pushed together with a foam egg crate thrown over it with a fitted king sheet. There will be a constant hole if you get too close to the center. We would not stay here again

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at the lake in this precious log haven. The views are unparalleled at sunrise and when the moon rises from the east. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

We loved everything about this property-the location, the decor and the porch swings and rockers to name a few. The cabin is so cozy, peaceful and relaxing. We enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking in water so clear that you could actually see fish swimming under you. After seeing a multitude of houses on the lake, we would still choose this one time and time again. Providing towels and sheets was an extra bonus.

This was our second time to SML. The location of this home is probably the best on the lake. It was perfect for a family of four. We brought our boat and the floating dock was perfect to tie up to. We spent most of our time on the floating dock swimming, fishing and floating- there was really no need to go anywhere else. This place is a slice of heaven. I love a rustic cabin. Every afternoon we had a thunder storm and enjoyed watching on the back porch. The back porch was so relaxing. My wife, kids and I all agree, this is most relaxing vacation we have ever had. My son caught many large bass right from the dock, there are also many bluegills around the dock that are easy to catch. We enjoyed the hot tub. The view from every part of this home is awesome. Also, we had front row seats to many firework displays for the 4th, including the big one straight across at Mitchell's. Our two labs were also in heaven being able to swim non-stop. The water is so clear and clean. We will be renting this home again. The owners, Mark and Chris were excellent to work with and were prompt to answer any questions. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home; we created many great memories.
