We, a family of four with two children in the ages of 4 and 6 (and our aunty visiting), stayed at Quinta Falcoes for a duration of 4 weeks in Jan/Feb 2021. Our first impression was overwhelming! The house is airy and sunflooded. The garden and pool area is enclosed and no one is able to look at the area from above. On the other hand the view is endless on the steep terrain at about 500m above sealevel. The Atlantic ocean is presenting a view, we haven't seen before anywhere else. Just sitting on a chair or an the brick-build bench looking at the sunset, the ocean and the small valley unfolding beneath is very calming in itself and an experience. The view is absolutely breathtaking, not just from the outside area, but also from all of the sleeping rooms and from the large living room and kitchen area. The pool is large enough for swimming and we used it almost every day. The heating failed once, because harsh winds overrode the fan of the heater, but the issue was proffessionally fixed after a short notice. At this staged we have to say that Rose and Gilberto, who cleaned and looked over the house were very friendly and professional. Any small issues or questions we had were dealt with very fast. The kitchen is very large. An outside kitchen and grill area, accessible from the inside kitchen with the obligatory Espetada utensils seduces to grilling more often. A large table and space outside enables you to eat with at the most breathtaking view at every occasion. There is a very small store next to the church at Faja da Ovelha, accessible by a short walk. For larger Grocery shopping, we went down to Calheta. There you will find everything you need and more. The sunflooding afternoon, we experienced on our arrival were not the norm, unfortunately, but due to the season. We had some bad weather, cool temperatures and cloudy conditions. The extra blankets and the electric heaters provided were thankfully accepted. The moist air made drying out washed clothes a chore (the dryer was broken and a maintenance worker could not be obtained due to Corona, despite of Gilberto trying hard). We reckon the house is perfect on sunnier days, but even at the cold and cloudy time we often experienced, it is large enough to spend some quality time indoors. We had some small issues because of a storm which hit the island on the night of our arrival but except for this (which was clearly not under the owners’ control) everything was great. Jon was very reactive to our requests and solved everything he could immediately. The view from the pool and from all the rooms is simply amazing and just this is worth the trip!

We had a great time at Quinta Falcoes. It's quiet and peaceful with an incredible view out to the ocean. The property is clean and very spacious. Would highly recommend.

Quiet area Nice house and pool Really enjoyed our stay

We had two couples and the house was very spacious for us. The house will accommodate a large family very well, since it has several floors and many bathrooms. It was very clean and beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels and pool towels. Local housekeeper was very easy to reach and very responsive. This is a quiet area with beautiful views of the Atlantic west. A car is needed since there is not much nearby as far as groceries and restaurants. The pool is a nice feature and very clean, but the air temperature was a bit too cool for swimming. It would have been wonderful in the summer! Owners Jon and Virginia were very quick to respond with booking and questions. We would highly recommend this place and would love to return.

Beautiful home with an amazing view. Quiet Village. The owner's were very responsive and provided lots of tourist information. Having a couple more basic amenities provided (knives, garbage bags, spices etc.) and some information on weathering big storms in the home would have made this a five star stay. Overall we did enjoy ourselves and would recommend the property. Loved Madeira.

A delightful property with an amazing view. Gorgeous pool that we used every day. So useful to have the games room when it got a bit too hot to be outside. We received a very comprehensive welcome pack giving us lots information on the property, days out and restaurants in the area. We had a wonderful holiday and are sure to be back.

I’d highly recommend coming to Madeira and staying at this property. The home is very modern and has one of the most spectacular views on the island. Very quick 15 min drive to Calheta where there is everything that you need. John and Virginia are great hosts and have local housekeepers around to help with anything needed. Great experience.

Really wonderful villa, very spacious and the views were just stunning. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. You definitely need a car if you want to explore Madeira but I'd be happy to just stay near the pool next time! It is a little far out from most tourist attractions i.e funchal was over an hour, Porto Moniz was a 30 minute drive but if you are happy to drive then this is the villa for you. Thanks again.

We stayed at Quinta Falcoes for 11 days while we explored Madeira and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The views from the house inside and out were incredible. If it were too cool to sit outside, we could sit inside and see the ocean as well. View is very important to me and this house satisfied that need for me magnificently. The house was clean and the bed was comfortable. Since it was just the two of us, we only used a small portion of the house, but it felt very cozy and warm. The house was a great base for exploring the western and middle sections of Madeira, but the eastern portion of the island seemed a little far. The main roads were actually great, but when you got off the main highways, getting around was a much slower process. We love to hike and there were tons of hikes within an hours drive of the house. We cooked a lot of our meals at the house and the kitchen was very well equipped to do that. We loved our time in Madeira and the house played a significant role in making our time so enjoyable. Thank you so much for opening your house to us - we so appreciated it.

We took two adults with disabilities with us and we found that the people of Madeira were very welcoming. We would all highly recommend that everyone goes on the safari that covers parts of the island very interesting and guide fantastic. We did a lot during our week stay, cable car, caves, buggies, safari, boat trip. All very good. Two things that would of made our holiday easier was directions to Vila need updating and a small welcoming pack would be of use as arrived when shops had closed. Other than that fantastic holiday had by all and hope to return again soon thank you so much xx

Villa very spacious and comfortable. The owners are very helpful, nothing too much trouble. We all had a fantastic and happy holiday. Would definitely stay here again.

I do not want to tell you how absolutely fabulous is Quinta Falcoes. I want to keep this home a secret but I think the owners would not be too happy if I did not share my thoughts. The floor to ceiling windows, I should hate to clean them, letting in perfect views; everything thought of to make your stay complete; a spotlessly clean home; super comfy beds; soft towels; pristine linen; great pool. A night time secret of clear dark skies, meteor showers, stars glistening. The home that Virginia and Jon have created is quite lovely, so please do not take all the available dates as we must go back. A massive thank you for letting us share such a super home

Lovely property with gorgeous sea views

We stayed here during the October half-term, so everything was open but not too busy. Good time to visit, although the only downside was the changeable climate of a tropical island in October! No problem, as long as you take both swim wear & rain coats! The villa is superbly presented and in an excellent location. The views from the pool area, sitting room and ALL bedrooms are outstanding. This is particularly good for families... as ALL the rooms are excellent and have the same view, so there's NO arguments! It's located far enough away from everything to always be quiet and not overlooked, but is close enough to get to a supermarket and civilisation within a few minutes. There's 5 of us in our family, with three children aged 21, 16 and 10. The villa is well equipped with plenty of things to do for all ages, so rain never stopped play! I have to say that the pre-visit communication with the owners and the information they supplied was probably the best we've received in our experience of renting holiday villas. Apart from the usual details about the property that you'd expect, they have provided a comprehensive 'recommended days out' for your stay. A lot of effort has gone into this and even if you only follow a couple of them I can assure you that you'll have a great time. We used them as the basis for our week's visit and had an amazing experience that covered most of the island. We really feel that we 'did' Madeira by the time we got home. Thank you for a fantastic holiday!

The villa is ideally located so plenty of opportunities to explore the island. The views were amazing, every appliance we needed was available, the downstairs den was brilliant for the children to chill in, and the living area was spacious and clean with wonderful floor to ceiling windows/doors so we could sit inside and still have uninterrupted views. The beds were very comfortable and the bed linen was lovely. The minor downsides were there were a lot of the pool tiles were missing (kept treading on them!) and the pool lights didn't work so the night time magic was lost a little for us. It was incredibly hot and only one of the ceiling fans worked so the children got that room! Fortunately it is in such a quiet and safe location that opening the doors was not a problem. The outside dining table and chairs could have done with a coat of wood treatment as they looked tired and I think just a bit of TLC before we arrived would have given this a five star rating. If we had gone out of season with it being less expensive I don't think it would have mattered but paying top whack in high season we really did want a 5 star villa. We would recommend the villa, especially when some of the tired areas have been corrected.

Amazing place to stay. Quinta Falcoes has everything you need. Swimming pool and villa has great standard. The villa is clean The view is spectacular. Th road from Faja to Paul do Mar is a great mountain road. Joe's Bar in Jardim do Mar is something special. We can recommend this place.
