This home was everything the description and photos showed. It was wonderful all around the property. Great views of the water and close to restaurants and the beach. My family and I created wonderful memories during our vacation and will want to stay here again!

It was clean, management was very responsive to my questions, the location was beautiful and allowed us to see the sun rise and set from the small balconies in either side of the bedroom. If only we weren’t surrounded by creepy posters...The house is decorated with old B movie posters from films shot on the island in the middle of last century. The bedroom is dominated by posters from the 1951 film “Bird of Paradise.” It includes White actors portraying native Hawaiians, and evil native witch doctor, a chief who wants to sacrifice his daughter to the volcano, and a White Savior who masters “native” rites of passage and saves the chief’s daughter. The other films also do what films of that time did, exoticize and sexualize native peoples and cultures, use White actors in native roles, and glorify White culture at the expense of Hawaiian culture. It was creepy and I seriously considered turning all of the posters to face the walls. So, if these things do not bother you, this is a great place. If they would bother you, steer clear of this home.

Perfect house- clean, everything we needed. Ocean views were awesome

This is a beautiful home with the most spectacular 180degree views! Loved our stay here. The only concern for us (with our little one) was the hard floor stairs (the baby gate did not fit to block them). There are also two lanai's upstairs with railings that can be climbed by a little one. This was a really fantastic house otherwise.

We loved this house, made the trip so much better and recommend the location. Only downside is the property management company never gets back to you. Still worth renting if you’re self sufficient.

The house is beautiful, in a great location. We could walk to the beach, see the turtles, snorkel. House is extremely well equipped, a great kitchen. Our only disappointment was that no coffee or tea was there. The upstairs bedroom is not completely closed off at the ceiling so the early risers stayed in that one. All in all, a great place to stay.

The property was excellently situated on the island and very close to the ocean, so the view from the lanai’s was wonderful., enjoyed our morning coffee there. The property felt very homey, loved the movie posters. The kitchen was well stocked so we could cook breakfasts. The 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms were well situated and came in handy with our group of 6. The unit was very clean. The beach chairs, umbrella, towels and cooler were an added bonus. Across the street is a wonderful cliff walk east to the Grand Hyatt. The construction was minimal and always done by 5 pm so it never bothered us as we were off exploring the island each day.

What a wonderful property. The views were great. Location was beautiful. Close to the beach, food, shopping, etc.. home has everything you need. Super easy to work with property management. Would definitely stay here again. If you are searching for properties to rent, look no further.

Overall we enjoyed our stay in Kauai. The property is in an excellent location and close to multiple beaches. We had 7 adults and the 4th bedroom was not really a bedroom. I should have read the details better. We made the most of it, since most activities besides sleeping are outside.

Beautiful property

Mele Kai was great! The house was well stocked, linens and towels were nice, and the bbq worked great. There were plenty of beach towels and chairs and a cooler. The views from the decks were outstanding - highly recommend!

The house is nice and is clean. The only thing is the couch is badly in need of replacement. But that is not the “One Major Problem.” The problem is there is construction going on right across the street. The workers start at 7:00am and work all day during the week and part of the day on Saturday. There are ten lots, some under contract, so construction will be going on for many months and possibly years. Once construction is complete, say goodbye to the gorgeous ocean view. This review is mostly for people like our group who come to Kauai to relax and not tour. We have seen all the touristy sites and just want to come sit on the lanai and whale watch or view and listen to the ocean. If you going to be out all day, construction noise may not be an issue, just an eye sore. If you are on the island to relax, this is not your house. Management company should disclose the construction in the listing. It is only honest to do so.

We watched whale spouts, walked to Poipu and Shipwreck beaches, caves, the Kauai fruit stand, and Brenneke's. We were at a perfect distance for exploring the west side of the island. Thanks for the opportunity to celebrate the holiday season after 2 years of pandemic- Mele Kai is special.
