Having the fenced in backyard was a luxury for a beach vacation with your dogs. The house is close to so many things, restaurants, ice cream and grocery stores. Most of all close to the beach! A quick walk across the street to the public access with parking (we didn’t use it) and there were not any steps to reach the beach!! A huge plus with several little kids in tow. One downside is that area of the beach has the storm drain so it’s recommended not to swim within 200 feet. Kitchen is well stocked, sharp knives, awful frying pans but that’s expected. The pool area seriously feels like a beach oasis with palm trees and rose bushes. It’s very pretty back there. There is fence and secure gate around the pool to keep little ones out. The house is very cute with all its dog decorations and the master bath on the top level is huge with double shower heads. We would definitely stay at this house again.

Easy beach access, nice pool and hot tub. Well maintained and heated pool a plus! Some decks and railings need to be replaced/stabilized in very near future. We had a good time and really liked it! Loved the extra play space for the dog! Yard had no THORNS which is a huge plus so very pet friendly!

The internet is terrible so it cannot be relied upon if you need to work while at the house. The cleaning staff needs to do a better job cleaning the floors. I understand it is a dog friendly house but there was excessive dog hair on the main floor when we arrived. Otherwise we had a great week. It's a fun house that's great for all ages. The teens loved the volleyball net! The owner has gone to great lengths with the dog decorations. So unique!

Reviewer Comments: We frequently rent the homes that this particular owner owns due to them being so well equipped for pets. Dealing with repairs or having to call the rental office in Kitty Hawk is a whole other ball game. No one communicates with each other so if you need something repaired during your stay, chances are, you are going to wait at least a few days. When we arrived it was dark and of course all of the lights were burnt out in the pool area and dog area. So luckily we had flashlights to be able to go through the yard, prior to letting our dogs in it, to make sure all was safe for them.Next up was the bottom door lock was broken. We checked in on Saturday and the door lock wasn't fixed until Wednesday early evening. So one of us had to stay home with our dogs and our valuables due to a door that didn't lock for the first 4 days. Someone from the owner's maintenance crew showed up on Monday, said he would return that afternoon, and that was the last we saw of him. It's ridiculous that multiple calls need to be made to the realty company in order to get things repaired etc. As far as making our reservation, go thru the Duck office, they are much more organized and on top of things. The home was clean and well furnished. Dishwasher didn't work too well though but the kitchen was well equipped. It really is a great house for people looking for a good place for your dogs to be able to run around and be safe.

It is in a nice location, with beach access across the street. You do, however, have to cross the main street to get to the beach (which is busy). It allows more than one dog, and has a very nice fenced in pay are for them. My biggest complaints were 1. the beds were not clean upon arrival (sand, grass and pee pads in the sheets. They had not been washed after the last tenants left), 2. the dishes in the cabinets and drawers were dirty (silverware still had food on them in the drawers) and 3. we had several maintenance issues that were brought to the attention of the rental company upon arrival, but none of the issues were addressed until Thursday after many phone calls. The big issues were that the elevator did not work (which was a main reason I got this house because my father is battling lung cancer and can't climb the stairs, and the kitchen is on the 3rd floor), the smoke alarms kept going off because the batteries were dead, the TV in the master bedroom did not work, and the washing machine didn't agitate when trying to wash all the sheets upon arrival. We were told that the owner of the property had their own maintenance person, and she was not responding to any of their requests to fix the items. Finally, the elevator was fixed on Thursday. The rental company was very friendly and helpful, but they can only do as much as the owner would allow. There was a concierge service with this rental company that I used quite a bit. The man's name was Ben, I believe, and he was a great help on ideas of things to do, directions, etc. I spoke with him numerous times throughout the week and his knowledge of the area was very beneficial to me since we had never been there before. Overall, the house was in good condition, just wish the owner would have responded to our maintenance concerns long before Thursday, and the beds had been cleaned prior to our arrival.

Location was perfect , right between Austin seafood and I said pier. Heated pool and hot tub were very nice. Pool tempature was like bath water towards the middle to end of the week - although first couple of days it was real cold. Only issue was with we blew a breaker in the house and mainteance kept on saying that the breaker box was in the house and it wasn't - I told the maintenance crew to make sure the main office knows the location when/if it happens again in the future. Only suggestion that we have is to have instructions on the electronics/TV's. Had a great week.

It's location is perfect - near the pier, the ocean, shops, and in the nicest part of Nags Head. The house is decorated and furnished beautifully. It was sparkling clean when we arrived, and maintenance responded quickly to minor issues (eg. Light bulb replacement, fixed a fence latch), even coming on a Sunday when minor repairs are generally held until the next weekday. It was hands down the best vacation we've ever taken, and we will definitely be booking Happy Dogs Days again.

The dog yard was beyond perfect (not one burr in the grass) it was a large enough area for them to play (which was good because the weather was not the best for taking walks. As for the humans we had a great time, elevator was perfect for our 86 yo mother. There was plenty of room for everyone since the weather was not cooperating with our plans for outside activities. There were a few minor issues that were promptly addressed by the service person. Could not have asked for a better vacation home. Will definitely be renting here again next year.
