Great for family lot’s of water sports available at nearby marina limited accessibility to lake from house for handicap or elderly very steep walkway

My family and I had a wonderful time at this lovely property at SML. Property was clean, spacious and very well equipped for all of our needs for the week. With the large kitchen and outside grill and the games in the basement, we rarely left the house in the evening. The dock area is great and well equipped with water toy and met all our needs during the day. The hill to the dock may be a challenge for anyone with health issues but with the refrigerator and other supplies we didnt need to tackle it often. Great vacation, would definitly stay again.

Wow! Picture perfect setting in a picture perfect house. From the moment you turn onto Cedar key you feel relaxed. Upon entering this lovely home, you feel relaxed and welcomed. The host has thought of every detail. Well stocked kitchen, as well as a starter of soap, toilet paper and laundry detergent Thoroughly enjoyed the nature surrounding the home. The walk down to the dock was actually wonderful. Yes, there’s a little bit of a hike when you return up the hill, but nothing dramatic. My husband and myself, as well as our teenage daughters loved having access to all the water toys. Thank you so very much for a wonderful, relaxing week Brian. We appreciate your help whenever we reached out.

The house was neat clean very organized had a great time visiting Smith mountain lake also loved the deepwater cove

House included everything you might need both in the kitchen and the dock. It was very clean and comfortable. Please remember to bring your own towels and sheets though because I forgot to read instructions and had to buy some on the way ;) The walk to the dock is steep so just a warning for those who might not be able to do steep hills. Its not super long and has a bench halfway if you need a rest but it’s important to note just in case. The view from the deck was gorgeous and I would recommend this house to any families looking for a perfect lake vacation.

Really enjoyed our stay. Great view from the deck. Enjoyed access to the lake. Owner was great to work with. If you are not fit it’s a challenging walk from the lake to the house. We would definitely stay here again.

Of all the houses we have rented on the lake over the past 10 years, this was by far the best appointed. It was perfect for our group (husband & I, 24-yr-old son and his best friend, and 19-year-old son and his girlfriend). Crock pot, cookie sheets, and baking pans were appreciated (along with all the other things you would normally find in a kitchen). Garage fridge was an unexpected surprise that we utilized as our beverage fridge. Beds were comfortable. We didn’t have the tv on much at all, but it seemed to have a good selection of channels and streaming services. Loved using the kayaks and paddle boards in the quiet cove. Having a fridge on the dock was great. On the days at the beginning and end of the week that we didn’t have a rental boat, we spent all day on the dock and in the lake. The fridge minimized our treks up the hill. Lots of little (and big) fish to catch off the dock… even a snapping turtle! The “kids” loved the activities in the basement later at night … especially the Wii and the ping pong table. Brian was super responsive when the router went out after a storm the day we got there. Location is close to Mitchell’s Point Marina and the dump to take trash and recyclables at the end of the week. Not far from Food Lion, either. This is the first time we’ve stayed this far down on the lake and it’s our new favorite. The *only* downside to this property is the hike back up to the house from the dock. But, we were prepared for it from the write-up. Plan well and you only need to do it once or twice a day! Assuming we don’t accumulate more than 6 people for our next trip, we’ll be back!

I can’t say enough about this home. Everything was so clean and comfortable. The house had all the little things you’re bound to forget and also all the extras that you didn’t realize would be so useful. The view can’t be beat and it was so private and quiet. We take a summer vacation every year, and I can honestly say this was the first time I wasn’t ready to go home. All three of our children (kid, preteen and teen) said it was their favorite vacation ever.

We had a great week at Brian’s place at SML. The view was amazing and the kids loved the basement with ping pong and games. The no-wake cove was very peaceful and we were able to bring our boat in and out without any problems. Mitchell’s Marina was nearby to eat out and take the boat for ice cream. It also wasn’t a bad drive in the car to the other side of the lake and Bridgewater Plaza. Wish we could have stayed longer!

This was our first time at SML. Everything was great. The location is very quiet and secluded. The path to the water is steep but after a few times it’s no big deal. We want to come back!!

We loved our stay at Witcher Way Lake House. The house was very clean and stocked with all the essentials. Brian and Theresa were great hosts! The location of this house is perfect for anyone looking to stay on SML away from the hustle and bustle. Grocery stores and restaurants were still close enough nearby. It was a great spot for fishing! We all really enjoyed being able to use the canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. Would definitely recommend!

This home had so much we didn't even know we wanted and needed!! From little things like liquid hand soap at all sinks and USB/charger ports in the main bedrooms to tons of storage space, room to gather(and separate!), to spare keys and codes for forgetful guests they thought of everything. The quiet, no-wake cove was terrific for navigating the kayaks and paddleboards as well as just bobbing in the water off the deck.

We enjoyed our stay at this incredible property. The kitchen was stocked incredibly well, the house was spotless, and the beds were comfortable. The house was much nicer than expected. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Very comfortable and clean home. Ample space for a family of 5 and lovely views. Good internet! Well stocked with kitchen items but a bit of a drag to have to bring own towels and bed linens though it was in the listing I just didn’t realize until after booking. Also having to bring trash to the dumpster upon check out a bit unexpected. I’d recommend this home for a family in the summer who wants a lovely environment with water activities and will cook mostly at home. Navigating the rural roads each night to go to a restaurant 20-30 minutes away a bit of work and stressful.

To echo another review, the posted pictures don't do this property justice. The lake is scenic and peaceful with small inlets, but it is also endless. The road into the property is perfect for relaxed strolls. Driving through the surrounding countryside is a vacation in itself. The house itself was spotless.

We absolutely loved our peaceful stay at Brian's house on SML. The view from the house was great but the view from the dock was even better. It felt like we were on our own private mountain lake! We loved taking the canoe out to explore Witcher creek and other parts of the lake, and got a good workout in the process. The one day that it rained, the indoor activities kicked in with foosball, ping pong, and some fierce air hockey competition. The house was spacious, very clean, and well laid out for comfort and efficiency. Definitely 5 stars.

The house and location were beautiful. Nice private area of the lake with little to no boat traffic. Kids had a blast with all the games and jumping of the dock. Really enjoyed the standing boards and kayak use. Other than the steep walk to the house which we were warned about, I can't say enough about this property.

The house was amazing! Very clean with excellent layout. The views are spectacular! The kids loved the basement space and table games. The dock was perfect for hanging out. Being in a “no wake” cove made it great for using the kayak and canoe and just floating on inflatables. Also very easy to dock our boat. We had a great week!

The location of this house is amazing. We floated in the lake day and night. The kayaks and paddle boards made it even better. The house is immaculately clean and spacious. The kitchen is well stocked with all you need for cooking. Would highly recommend staying here. Path to the lake is steep at parts but was a nice walk and good exercise. There is a fridge at the dock so we brought what we needed down to avoid trips back and forth. Great place overall. Thanks to the owners for sharing such a beautiful place to get away.

This is a beautiful and well maintained home. Outdoor setting so peaceful and inviting. Being on the cove such a plus. Great road for walking with lots of wildlife. Kitchen and great room open and spacious for everyone to be together. Great sofas for watching movies all together. Everything you need for a wonderful, relaxing family time. Didn’t want to leave!

Hats off to the owners of this property! The pictures, while beautiful, do not do the property justice. The home was impeccably clean and stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of room on both levels and the basement/game room really salvaged our trip on the rainy day. The host, Brian, was very communicative. The only (minor) downside was the very steep walk between the house and the lake. But the views from the dock and the tranquility of the lake made it all worth it. We look forward to coming back in the future!
