we were unable to check in and took us 1.5 hr by taxi to try to find this place. Once we arrived a property both entry doors were locked at we were unable to gain entry. We never stayed at the property. Once we contacted owner about the incident her response was that sucks. She hopes to have this problem resolved in the future. We paid $50 to a taxi to take us from airport to her place and then to take us to another hotel. Owner of VRBO has refused to give full refund. I will never rent from this person in the future. VRBO was not very helpful. I will provide negative overall reviews on other sites online very soon about this horrific experience.

I average staying at 4 or 5 VRBO homes per year, and if I return to the Dominican Republic, I would stay at this apartment again. The apartment was very clean and the neighborhood felt safe. I will mention that I would describe the apartment as a "Government type of housing project" - but with that said, the neighbors were very friendly, and the neighborhood was not "full of trash" like some of the other neighborhoods we saw in the DR. We stayed at this apartment for a total of 10 nights, and spent 2 days scuba diving, we rode horses, shopped in markets, and played a lot of basketball with the "locals." The apartment had good internet and was within walking distance to a large grocery store. A few of the drawbacks to the apartment were that the handles on the kitchen sink faucet needed repair - but could still be used.... and the shower head in one of the bathrooms should probably be replaced because it seemed clogged (maybe mineral build up). In spite of a few minor things like this, we really, really enjoyed the apartment (and the neighborhood) and the trip to the DR. If you're looking for a Ritz Carlton, then stay somewhere else... but if you're looking for a clean, simple apartment that's a great value for the money, then I would highly recommend staying at this place.
