The Getaway is located in a quiet residential neighborhood up against the foothills. We stayed in unit #1. Well equipped kitchen, nice views, very comfortable for 2. Easy drive to Vons for groceries. Interesting coffee table books on mid century modern architecture! Sort of has an old California, throwback motel vibe— nice contrast to the many mega resorts in the area. We liked the location because it is fairly close to interesting hiking areas (Whitewater, Big Morongo preserves) as well as the most interesting part of Joshua Tree NP. Even Idyllwild is only an hour away. Thanks Eric, we will be back. Herb & Judy

Plenty of room, and very clean space. I would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to the area.

The property is lovely with a beautiful view of the valley and mountains. It’s a short drive to Palm Springs and nearby National parks. We enjoyed the retro/modernist styling of the place. The property was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The host, Eric, was friendly and helpful. We hope to come back here next year.

Wonderful little vintage motel style home away from home. Was there for work and the only guest during the week- but made use of the pool and kitchen. Planning a trip back for ‘vacation’ and not ‘working vacation’!

We loved our stay at the Getaway! It was alike a home away from home. The apartment is conveniently located for getting out and about in the desert. The furnishings were fabulous and the grounds were well-maintained. Eric was very attentive to our needs and replied quickly to any requests we made. I'll definitely be coming back to stay. This place is quite, cute and has cool mid century designs and furnishings. It set up if you need to work or just chill and watch tv in the living room or bedroom. I absolutely loved the book collection and Roku TV set up in 2 rooms. The host was responsive, respectful and kind.

Very nice apartment decorated to fit the 1950s. Very clean. Great pool and spa area. quiet location at a reasonable price.

The location was nice and quiet and close enough for me to everything. The apartment was clean and orderly. Only issue was the internet was down for a little bit and I needed to do some work but Eric had it taken care of that same day. Easy to reach, He was quick to respond to my emails and texts or just call.

Great place. Desert Hot Springs doesn't have much going on food-wise so we had to drive in to Palm Springs fairly regularly but we got the hang of it overall. Good location for Joshua Tree National Park, some really good boutique spas in Desert Hot Springs too.

What a wonderful place to stay, relax and enjoy the Coachella Valley. Let me start by saying it is unfair to label this merely as a "rental property" as it is a delightful, welcoming home away from home that immerses you in the character of the area. Eric has gone above and beyond to provide a unique place to stay and be part of the character and vistas you came to experience. We have stayed at over 30 Home Away and VRBO spots and while some owners and managers have been great, Eric truly deserves the title of "host". His approach is welcoming and thoughtful, he provides clear and complete information and he takes being a host to heart. The place is charming, spacious and well equipped. It interesting to just look around at all the period pieces. It is quiet and relaxing both indoors and out by the pool and spa. As far as location, you are well placed to see the unbelievable Joshua Tree National Park, Palm Springs Art Museum and many restaurants and shops, the Coachella Reserve, the Living Desert, the outlet malls, Shields Date Garden and, just a few blocks away, the amazing Cabot's Pueblo Museum. Desert Hot Springs is a mecca for spas - and has the supermarkets that you need along with numerous Mexican restaurants. If you are looking to relax at a unique character spot with a great host, this is the place for you. We will be back.
