We all loved this beautiful home nestled on the mountainside near the river. The house itself offers an array of activities; books, games, kitchen, view, fire options. Walking to the river and admiring the brook trout, crawfish, and other nature was an afternoon delight. Several hiking options nearby- Roaring Fork Falls a must do. Also enjoyed Burnsville for the shops; Hammond Antiques, Something Special, then Hog Hollow for beer and pizza. One of our favorite family trips.

Lovely house and comfortable beds. Kitchen well stocked. Hot tub was the best part. Some fixtures and wall details dated and could use a face lift but overall was a great place to stay to mountain bike in Old Fort and hike at Mt Mitchell.

This house has a great deck with beautiful views. We have stayed here many times but this time it wasn't as clean. Lots of white pet hair in the master bedroom. We were also hoping some of the kitchen gadgets would be updated. None of the can openers work well or at all. It is a very comfortable house but needs a good cleaning.

This property is so much larger than it looks in pictures and in this listing. There is so much space for everyone to do anything comfortably. Our family enjoyed everything from working on puzzles and the jacuzzi and siting around to eat every night in the dining table and hanging out on the deck with the fire table. The only downside is that we did see a small roach in one of the bathrooms but cabin life isn't exactly bug-free. We also thought we would have direct access to the river (I don't think the listing says we do, but I think we just wanted it to be so because it mentioned rivers nearby in the reviews) and we didn't. Access to the river is not far and if you're into fly fishing you can pay for a pass to the gold course and fish in the South Toe River. We spent our week off and on hiking in nearby trails in the blue ridge mountains and fly fishing. We saw a bear on our way to one of the trails (not by the property). This was the first time we saw bears in 6 years visiting the BRM. Overall a great time. This property has everything you need.

The location of this house in the mountains and nice neighborhood was perfect. Great view of the river and golf course. The house had everything needed and was very relaxing. Our 2 golden retrievers also loved it. I'm sure we will visit the Mt. Mitchell area again, and this house will be our first choice.

The house was perfect and very clean. This was our first visit to North Carolina and it did not disappoint. The house is in the Mountains with gorgeous views. The house had plenty of room for us and our grown kids. The hot tub was nice and again with an amazing view! We were in Burnsville for a wedding so didn’t have a lot of time in the house but this is a place you can go to stay just to relax, gorgeous views and never have to leave. The host stayed in touch with us and answered all our questions. Great communication!

Property was great. A bit of a drive to anything and roads are curvy and narrow. Location, though, is BEAUTIFUL❤️. House was fully equipped. Decks and hot tub are fabulous. Weather wasn’t as good as we had hoped, but the owners provided games and wifi for streaming services, so an awesome weekend despite the cool temps and rain. Would highly recommend a stay in this beautiful mountain home. Thank you for sharing your home with my family.

We had a nice, relaxing stay. Hot tub and the view were perfect. Nice, big kitchen and plenty of room for everyone. We are working on coming back in the near future.

We loved every part of our stay at this cabin! Close enough to hiking trails for sunny days; large enough to happily stay inside on rainy days.

The process of renting, checking in and checking out were all easy. The home is larger than we expected and has room for 7, comfortably. The master suite is expansive and comfortable, and the hottub is a sweet treat after a day of hiking the nearby trails. There are several amazing hikes within just a few minutes' drive, on Mt. Mitchell, and in the Pisgah National Forest. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful, quiet, neighborhood.

We needed a weekend away, and it was a perfect time. The weather was gorgeous, the trees were showing fall color, apples were ripe for picking. Gary's home is just as pictured, with an impressive collection of military history books and others, an enormous master suite, and a hot tub overlooking the golf course. We had a great time as a family, and it provided exactly the rest, fun, and leisure we needed.

If you are looking to get away from it all this is the place.

Words cannot do justice to just how great this house and location is. This is one of the BEST places we've rented. It was extremely comfortable, the view was AMAZING, we can't wait to go back.

A wonderful home tucked away in a lovely neighborhood where deer roam. The large decks were perfect and a great spot to take in the absolutely gorgeous views. The home had everything we needed. We will be back!

We enjoyed our stay last year so much we came back and it was every bit as enjoyable (if not more) than we remembered! Great location with accessibility to wonderful hiking experiences. Love the deck and hot tub and enjoyed morning coffee, family dinners, and game nights in this comfy home.

Everything was perfect! My husband and I both enjoyed the hot tub. Perfect ending of the day for our old bones! The views were gorgeous and I loved falling asleep with the moonlight shining in our bedroom window! The drive into Burnsville and Sprucepine from the house were breathtaking. Only a short distance to get onto the Parkway for breathtaking views. This week stay in this lovely home was definitely "HEAVEN" for me. A much needed rest for my body and soul!

The property was close to several hiking trails and the Blueridge Parkway and the hot tub was a great way to end the evening. There was plenty of room for 6 people, plenty of towels, and the kitchen was well stocked. There were a large variety of books available to read. The only negative was there were ants in the master bedroom and bathroom. It wasn’t terrible but they were noticeable. We had a great time. It was very peaceful sitting on the deck!

This was a nice property with character. I chose this to be close to hike Mt Mitchell and you literally cannot get any closer. If I had a criticism it would be that even with the $100 cleaning fee, I wish it was cleaner on the inside and that we knew some of the cleaning rules from the host up front - i.e. taking your trash with you. Thank goodness we had a truck that we could stick it in the back when we left. It was mostly quiet minus the thud every so often of golf carts crossing the bridge. It rained a good bit of one day and the huge living room windows provided a nice view.

We always get away for Christmas and wanted to stay in a quiet remote section of the mountains. The placed we stayed was beautifully located overlooking the Mt. Mitchell Golf course and a stream. The amenities were on point. There was a deck off to the back with beautiful deck furniture and a gas "fire and ice" fireplace. On another level of the decking was a hot tub which we enjoyed as well. The one outstanding thing about this place was the amazing library. Such a collection of history!! We walked into this place and everything we needed for a home away from home was there except for our groceries.

We live at the beach and we were looking for a mountain getaway and this sweet cozy mountain house was the best decision!! We loved the views, the amenities and the location is so perfect! We were able to go hiking somewhere everyday and did not have to drive to far to get there. Also loved going into Burnsville to eat and shop. The house was clean and equipped with anything we could have needed (WiFi, tv and Netflix, blankets, books, comfy bed, linens, towels, kitchen supplies, etc). We would recommend anyone to stay here - we would definitely love to stay here again one day. Thank you for the experience!

The location and style of this cabin was perfect. It was close to other artists in the area and we were able to bring our dogs, which was amazing. There is a lengthy checkout list, including taking all of your trash with you, doing the dishes, starting laundry, stripping all of the beds, wiping down the kitchen and bathrooms and (because we brought pups) we vacuumed and swept everywhere as well. These things were not a problem for us as we typically clean up after ourselves, but there is a 100$ cleaning fee as well as the pet fee, which added with the insurance/protection too, adds up pretty fast.
