Very nice host who welcomed us himself.

The room didn't seem to be cleaned. In the shower was still laying used soap and a shampoo bottle from the provious visitors. The soap holder wasn't cleaned for a long time it looked like. Also the kitchen looked like it was used and not cleaned properly.

The owner of the apartment put a bottle of red wine in the kitchen and welcomed us to drink it, if we wanted to. The place was clean enough for travelers. It was pretty cold when I, and my friend, stayed there and the two natural gas heaters kept the the apartment warm enough. The apartment is in a relatively quiet neighborhood.

If you don't have a car, the apartment is in a horrible location with very few restaurants and other facilities, nearby. And the apartment is far from most things in San Juan. For example to walk from the apartment to the main bus terminal took us 55 minutes (and we're pretty good walkers) on the most direct route (which the owner later told us is not recommended). We typically use local buses but that was, unfortunately, not a good option from where the apartment is located. But the thing I appreciated least was that, because the owner insists on receiving strictly cash(which is something I normally don't mind), foreign travelers have to pay an additional 21% (for VAT tax) which, according to Booking.com is waived if a foreign credit card is used. This is plainly written by booking.com (even in the description for this particular apartment).The owner told us that this is not true in Argentina but, if you simply search on Google, putting in search words such as "Argentina VAT tax foreigners" you will see result after result indicating that it is, indeed, true. Since we lost 21% I asked the owner to please give us a a discount (I was thinking 10%) but the owner refused to extend any discount, whatsoever. I didn't appreciate that, at all.
