Location is fabulous especially to be able to walk your dog nearby in the picnic field and nearby. The apartment is very much as per the photos and very scenic views from all windows.

Convenient to so much of the North and our nearby family, we highly recommend this property and look forward to visiting again. The apartment is spacious and charming, easily and comfortably accommodating my extended family of seven. The kitchen is more than adequate to self-cater. The bedrooms are numerous and comfortable. The living room is well appointed and full of artifacts of history of the place. The only drawbacks are the lack of a second shower, and the spotty access to cellular for US-based phones—the later contributing to the relaxing mood of the place. But the grounds! My wife and mother-in-law grew up visiting the ruined abbey adjacent to the apartment, and having the opportunity to share that experience with my young son was truly special. We spent our days exploring the abbey, learning about monastic life, visiting the river, and exploring nearby Cocken Wood. The park is so extensive that we didn’t even find the picnic ground until the last day of our ten day stay, and wished that we had more time to avail ourselves of it. Next time. The apartment is in a stunning setting. Don't be put off by the fact this is in a caravan park, the two are separate and every window in the property has a lovely view. We spent much of one day just walking by the river and enjoying the scenery. The apartment is very well appointed with good quality fittings and has everything you need. Unlike many properties, there is ample seating for everyone, both at the tables and in the spacious sitting room. Ann was incredibly helpful. We made full use of the discounts offered into Beamish and enjoyed all the welcome goodies. Just be aware that, being an old property, not everything is on the level so you just have to be aware of the odd step in and out of rooms. We would highly recommend this property. We only stayed for three nights, but it would make an excellent base for a much longer stay.
