We arrived after dark and the process of collecting the key was a little more difficult. The key box wasn't well lit and I had to use my phone torch whilst also trying to read the combination from the email and move the dials. The gates didn't open very well which made getting our luggage through difficult. Once in the property, we were greeted with milk, eggs, cereal and bread which was a really nice touch especially as we were hungry and in the middle of the countryside. We had an issue on arrival and the host rectified this straightaway. She was incredibly pleasant and gave us a very good recommendation for a local activity: maze52.com
The whole key collection process was quite stressful as the key box and area wasn't well lit and the gates didn't open properly. Also, the dripping tap was a tad annoying but in keeping with our Halloween stay 😉

There were a couple of nice touches like milk & butter in the fridge upon arrival.
Upon entering the property, we observed a large hole in the door that had been temporarily fixed with duct tape.
We then encountered an exceptionally steep, narrow staircase leading to a bed positioned directly beneath a sloping roof, making it impossible to sit up without hitting one's head.
Please disregard the images provided. The rental consists of a single compact room that serves as a bedroom, kitchen, and living area all in one.
The beams were covered in a layer of dust and cobwebs, and the provided dressing gowns were grey, threadbare, and extemely stiff.
The overall cleanliness of the property was lacking, and we soon discovered the mesh screens on the two small windows and fly tape in the draws were there to address an issue with flies.
The aforementioned kitchen draws were covered in warning tape & hanging off.
To our dismay, we also discovered a flea infestation within the premises. Consequently, we had no choice but to pack our belongings and vacate the property within an hour.
The property owner attempted to hold us responsible for the flea infestation, but we possess photographic evidence of flea eggs and larvae beneath the bed, proving their presence prior to our arrival. The owner refused to accept any responsibility or help with any potential solutions & continued to blame us for a problem very obviously there before our arrival.
To this date, the owner is still refusing any kind of recompense. We are still pursuing this.
Despite the aforementioned issues, we acknowledge the thoughtful gesture of providing milk and butter in the refrigerator upon our arrival.
As someone raised in a rural environment, I appreciate rustic charm; however, the conditions of this bedsit rendered it unsuitable for habitation.

It was cosy and comfy and had everything we needed. I travelled alone with my dog and felt very safe, we had a lovely stay. He had treats and a snuggly bed and I had slippers and a robe! We both slept very well. Rachel was so helpful with all the instructions and information and left us a lovely breakfast hamper. Great value and location for exploring.
Wifi was a bit hit and miss which didn’t bother me at all as I like to get away from the screen when I’m away and read a book.

Welcome pack was much appreciated, communication was good, price was decent untill we got there , then I thought it was overpriced unfortunately.
Pictures made it look a lot nicer unfortunately 😕 not comfortable, shower damaged , so had to hold it to use it. Very unpleasant on the eye unfortunately . And being 6ft I had to duck everywhere , even to have a pee. Smacked my head every time I lifted my head off the pillow🤕🤕

The property was in a quaint little village in the Derbyshire countryside, beautiful location and very quiet and tranquil. The little touches like eggs, bread, milk, butter and cereal were very thoughtful.

We really enjoyed our short stay, and will look at staying again in the future. Everything was made available, that we could ever require in the apartment. Even the dog was left a bag of treats and a bed to sleep in. The provided robes were an excellent touch, and useful for letting the dog out at 6am! It is in a lovely quiet location to recharge the batteries.
Bed was a little softer than we are used to, but that is a personal preference, so it is hard to please everyone.

Countryside, peaceful location. Had all facilities needed such as washing machine, fridge, freezer, oven, microwave etc. and the breakfast hamper was a lovely touch with eggs, bread and cereal. Good communication with the host who was really friendly and suggested some local walks.
Unfortunately the cleanliness and attention to detail was a bit of an issue for us. The locking / unlocking of the padlock was annoying if we wanted to take the dog across the road to the private garden or nip to the car.

Bought our own breakfast although eggs and bread was provided
There was a constant appearance of flies which I kept having to kill. Beams were a nuisance

Rachel was lovely, she left fresh milk, eggs and a loaf. There were a few tea bags, coffee and sugar for use . There’s also a freezer, fridge and microwave in the room
As there are horses out the back, there were a lot of flies, it was warm so needed the windows open but the flies buzzing and crawling on us kept us and our dogs awake. Awful nights sleep. Also the garden is not as you’d imagine, it’s across the road . The property is literally in the middle of nowhere. We booked two nights but only stayed one as couldn’t deal with another sleepless night.

Nothing
Freexing cold. Insufficient heating. Dated and to be perfectly honest the only word I can use to describe the place is grim. Decor & furnishings were dull & depressing. We left after spending 1 freezing damp hour there. Was just awful.

The host left items for breakfast, bread, milk, cereal and tea and coffee. And also a present for my boyfriend and a card as it was for his birthday. Host was in touch while we stayed and advised us local pubs and places to walk.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about our stay.

Everything you need for a relaxing weekend.
Lovely pub 1.3miles away, which is easy to walk to.
so quiet.
although it is very quiet, the location is beautiful. lovely walks surrounding the property and amazing pubs in a few of the nearby villages.

Appreciated the fully equipped kitchen with everything easy to use and efficient. Enjoyed the fact that the flat was easy to heat and cosy. The countryside around was beautiful and we had some wonderful walks whilst we were there.
Only a slightly dripping tap.

Very clean and cosy. Everything you need for a self catering stopover is here. Very peaceful and quiet at night for a good night's sleep. Lovely watching the horses in the paddocks in the evening.
Was amazed how much has been fitted in to this annexe in terms of utensils and appliances.
Sporadic WiFi/data but it's a great excuse to switch off and enjoy your surroundings.
There were dog biscuits in a dog bed and I didn't bring a dog so I did worry that they might attract mice but I can see how this would be appreciated by doggy owners 😊

Very clean, host Rachel is very friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure you feel welcomed including a breakfast basket 😊
Myself and my 2 children loved the place!
Rachel sent very detailed instructions for arrival
Room was smaller than I thought (that’s probably my fault for not reading the description properly)
I liked the property’s location, on a quiet country road but I recommend bringing everything you need with you - it was a 30min drive to the nearest supermarket.
Also wifi does not work a lot of the time.

Lovely quiet and comfortable well equipped apartment about 10-15 mins drive from Ashbourne.

The apartment was great. Rachel communicated brilliantly from the start. The apartment was easy to find. It had everything we needed for our trip away. The welcome basket and the treats for our dog were a lovely surprise.
Nothing.

Good contact information prior to the visit.
Nice to have bread and milk and eggs as complimentary.
Good kitchen for self catering
Key box is awful. Needs putting at top of post not ground level. Also worst key box I have ever used. Needs replacing . Gate needs repairing. This means initial access is off putting and gives poor initial impression.
Would also have been nice for owner to say hello when they saw us rather than ignore us from across the yard.

Lovely apartment with an amazing host
WiFi didnt connect but that couldn't be helped due to the storm
