Chez Shell is exactly as represented from the pictures and description on VRBO. Two master bedrooms made it nice for two couples. The view from the great room and outsides spaces is spectacular! An afternoon at the pool is beautiful if you don’t feel like driving to one of the incredible beaches. Downtown Cruz Bay is a short ride away for drinks or dinner out. The only negative was the home being built right next door. It was loud some days and construction vehicles made parking a challenge.

Great view, very cute interior, pool area was beautiful. It was hard to find, they need a sign at the end of the driveway and some description of how to get to the driveway from Great Cruz Bay Road.

The views are beautiful from sunrise to sundown. Villa Chez Shell is located just past the Westin, less than 5 minutes to the market and less than 10 minutes to Cruz Bay. Two bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms, are ideal for couples.

It was a great location and a peaceful,relaxing way to enjoy the beaches of St. John!

Great place with an amazing view. Close to everything

House is Lovely. The view .... fabulous. The dip pool was used a lot. Lush landscaping. Great location. Well appointed kitchen. We were there while it was hot, so, understand there is No AC in living/ kitchen area. Bedrooms were the only relief from the heat. Not much of a breeze to help with heat or mosquitoes. Lots of ceiling fans, but not all run at the same speed. Just know its hot.... we were there 7/28-8/6. Island beaches are so beautiful. Small town, friendly locals. I will be back.

We so enjoyed our stay at Chez Shell! The home is lovely with every detail considered from the comfortable beds to tasteful decor. The home is located close to town, the view from the pool is perfect and the iguanas in the trees were entertaining. The welcome basket was a fun surprise, so thoughtful. Thank you for sharing your home with us, we would love to visit again.

We had a wonderful trip! We weren’t aware the hosts live underneath the villa - however, that was a non event. We didn’t see or hear them the entire time so if that is a question mark for you - it shouldn’t be. House was great - clean and well appointed. Kitchen had all the basics. Pool was wonderful but sun cooked! Great umbrella in the pool area for shade. I don’t normally rent villas that aren’t fully AC. This place was awesome but the bedrooms being only AC was tough for us. We knew it coming in but the main area having screens only held a lot of warm air that didn’t move as quickly throughout the days. The bedrooms could get ice cold however, so going in there to cool off and then to sleep were a great reset. All in all a beautiful spot. We love Great Cruz view and it’s such an easy drive from town.

Great experience, location and villa.

We had a great time on St. John while staying at Chez Shell. The villa was great and had everything we needed, including a wonderful sunset view! We enjoyed the pool and deck areas with their great views. The screened living area allowed us to feel the breezes and enjoy the view, yet be out of the sun. The location made it easy to get into Cruz Bay and to the beaches using the jeep we rented. Our thanks to the owners!

My family of 4 stayed here the 1st week of the New Year. The view is spectacular, pool is nice but not heated so really only useable when the sun is out in full. The home is very spacious for a small family and the kitchen, appliances and accessories are adequate. What we weren’t expecting was to have the hosts living there all week in the lower level. Granted their apartment is not a part of the listing, however, it should absolutely be disclosed to the renters that they will be living at the property with you! It really took away from our sense of privacy which is the whole point of a vrbo vs a condo or hotel. The house was clean where it really mattered, baths kitchen etc but base boards, ceiling fans and light fixtures and under furniture were quite dusty and even with some cob webs. unappealing and not acceptable for the price of the rental and cleaning. We did not call anyone back because some of us hardly ever left the villa and did but want the intrusion. I don’t believe other renters were even aware they had company in the lower level because they do stay out of sight as much as possible and out of your way. Probably my biggest complaint was you have to drive your own trash well into town (and instructions were to do that every single day although we found that unnecessary.) we took the kitchen trash a couple of times when it got full, but having to take even a day’s trash with you upon check out is challenging with all the luggage. Hosts should take it!!!!

Chez Shell is perfectly located and everything is 5 to 9 minutes away. We ate out 1/2 the time and grilled at the Villa the other 1/2. The Kitchen has everything you could ask for. We even found a crock pot and made a recipe in that while we enjoyed the pool. The views are amazing. You will not be disappointed with the property. We plan on returning again in the future.

We had a great week at the Villa Chez Shell. Property was beautiful with amazing views of Great Cruz Bay for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails and pool time. Close to town and National Park. We will definitely consider returning upon our next trip to St. John

Very east

This is our third time at Chez Shell Villa and it never fails to please. The views of Great Cruz Bay and beyond are breathtaking. The house is well stocked with all kitchen utensils you could need for a dinner prepared in. The pool is private and overlooks beautiful views of Great Cruz Bay. It has a lovely deck that offers impressive views. It is very clean and tastefully decorated. It is only about a 5-6 minute drive into town. Sheree handled all of our needs and was a great host. We hope to be back soon!

Wish I could come back and stay again soon. Love the place, love the island and loved the people.

Superb experience! The house is just like in the photos: well preserved and equipped, with a fantastic location. Clearly to come back and recommend. Two suggestions to the owners and a note (not jeopardizing the 5 stars classification): to put a hard shade in the balcony, as the living room gets really hot; to find a way to have air conditioning in the living room, as in august in becomes really uncomfortable; to check some details of the cleaning, as something has fallen under the bed and there was some dirt street, with other lost stuff. Thank you for everything!

This property is so beautiful! Even better than the pictures. We could have stayed in the infinity pool looking at the amazing views all day! The owner was quick to respond with questions and even stopped by to visit with us. We would stay here again for sure!

Loved every second of our stay. The open floor plan and amazing views from the deck were our favorite. The home is close to everything you want to do in Cruz Bay. We arrived during Carnival and July 4th and were blown away by the fireworks over the bay. This is where you want to go, BOOK IT!

Close to Cruz Bay, beautiful views

As a VRBO owner, I understand the importance of delivering a great experience. Villa Chez Shell more than delivers. My wife and I went to St. John with another couple as "first timers" on island. The house is in a perfect location just a short drive from the ferry. The view is outstanding and the house is in a perfect, quiet location. There are two separate decks overlooking Great Cruz Bay. The pool area and lounge chairs are a great place to relax. There is some re-construction on the house next door but it is hardly noticeable. The house is well appointed with everything you need, and they also provide beach chairs and towels for day trips to the beach. As others have noted the only AC is in bedrooms, but they were very efficient and cooled the bedrooms nicely. Sheree was the perfect host and helped us with everything we needed. A couple of notes: Rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle (roads are steep and can be slippery) and explore the island. We drove all over the island. Both the Dolphin Market and Starfish Market (grocery stores) are a short drive or cab ride from the Villa. Take Shoreline Drive and beach hop. Maho and Honeymoon Beach were our favorites. From Maho you can cut over to Coral Bay. The drives are beautiful and a lot shorter than you think. We spent $ 20 in gas for a whole week! Take a boat trip with Calypso/Bad Kitty. Best way to see the whole island and you can finish at Lime Out, the only floating taco bar I've ever been too. Food is fantastic. Relax. Everyone is on island time. The vibe is very peaceful and chill.

We had an amazing experience at Chez Shell! The pool was spectacular, as was the view. There was construction next door that could be a little loud during the day, but the place was so private that it wasn’t intrusive for us at all. We kept the hurricane shades closed to keep out the mosquitoes and heat (there were still mosquitoes). The AC in the bedrooms was great, and the decor was beautiful. We spent every night in the pool admiring the view and the stars. Highly recommended- can’t wait to go back!

Great property. Only concern was house has no central AC. only in bedrooms it got HOT! Lots of mosquitos. So spray spray spray. Other than that great location and awesome Pool deck area. Kitchen fully stocked.

One of the best views of Great Cruz Bay; short distance to town and market. Decorated beautifully and well furnished. Worked great for 2 couples. We enjoyed the pool and patio! We didn't realize the family room & kitchen area were not air conditioned but thankfully there were A/C units in the bedrooms. Will definitely return!

Absolutely Loved St. John!! The views from the house were Amazing!! The home was beautifully decorated and had a fully stocked kitchen:) Be aware there is AC in the bedrooms ONLY:/ The living space in the house gets very hot with little relief. If you plan on cooking or relaxing in the living space, come during the winter months ha ha We had very little wind and it was like a sauna in there😓Most of the week, there was a lot of construction going on next door. The workers were very nice and respected our privacy. Before we left, We relaxed in the pool in the evening and spent most of the days at the beaches:)) Definitely recommend drinking bottled water & renting a Jeep from St. John rental:) The house is very convenient to the downtown area. Michelle, the caretaker was very responsive and took great care of us!! All in All, we do recommend the property:) The deck and patio/pool area were Awesome 😎 Absolutely Loved all the wildlife and the 🐓 scattered on the 🏝

Everything was perfect ! Scenery from the back patio and pool was amazing. Only AC in the house is in the the two bedrooms which we did not know until we got there. AC was not on prior to us getting there so it was VERY hot when we arrived. However, it does cool down at night and we were rarely at the house during the day. We would still recommend this place. Beautiful views and house.
