Soul Surfer is a fantastic house! We rented it the last week of August, a group of 18 parents and our children ranging in age from 18 to 22. The house was large enough to accomodate all of us comfortably. The views were amazing and of course, the ocean front location was a huge plus. The house is decorated very well with my favorite colors, and all bedrooms and bathrooms are comfortable, clean and modern. There was plenty of refrigerator space and the ice makers were much appreciated. We lingered for hours each morning on the upper deck, enjoying the ocean views and the breeze. The location is very convenient, although, honestly, we mostly stayed at the house. We have rented on Route 12 (north on the peninsula) for many years, and found traffic to be much better in Nag's Head due to the 4 lane highway and the beach road. The movie fans thoroughly enjoyed the theater room. We found the kitchen's inventory adequate, and we could fit at the large dining table for group meals and games at night.

I believe we were one of the first renter's of this property in late May 2013 as it was a new construction. We had a group of 13 adults and 5 children (all under 4), and the house was pretty much perfect for that size crew. Overall it was fantastic. We were blown away by the views of the beach from the 2nd and 3rd floors. Also, the house was beautifully decorated…very modern and of course everything looked new. We also found almost no needs as far as the stocking of kitchen items and we cooked almost every meal in the house!! The upstairs was perfect for letting the kids play during the day and having dinners, games, etc. at night with the adults. Also, the first floor had a great set up for playing billiards and watching sports or movies in the theatre room. The location was also great...not far from grocery stores, ABC liquor stores, an ice cream shop, activities, and other excursions such as the Wright Brothers museum. The pool and hot tub set up was great, complete with swim-up bar stools, a kiddie pool and a wading area for the little ones. One of the issues we did face was that the pool filter stopped working on a couple of occasions...there was an error code on the pump that requires service and we had to rely on the management company to send out a service man to fix it (e.g. flip a switch or something). This wasn't a problem the first time, but the second instance it took 3 days to get someone out there, which resulted in a pool that was unheated (chilly) and fairly dirty (bugs, sunscreen, etc.). I’m sure the issue will get sorted out quickly (growing pains of new construction), and we still did really enjoy the pool and hot tub. We would definitely recommend this property to any large group and really can’t imagine a more perfect set up for our crew!
