Great property and amenities. If they don’t have it you probably won’t need it. The location is convenient to public beach access and grocery store. You won’t be disappointed.

Owners had everything organized and labeled exceptionally. The shower could have used bars as a safety measure for easier use for older people. A new car wash that hasn’t opened yet could cause noise and congestion.

Nice cottage for family of 4. Great location, short walk to the beach. The host Terri is very nice with detail instructions.

Wonderful property and had everything that we needed to feel safe with our family who has two children with special needs. It was a short walk to the beach and we were surrounded by plenty of activities in the area. Rooms had everything in them to enjoy our stay and we felt right at home.

We had a great stay at the Turtle Shell. The walk to the beach was an easy one for to how close it was with sidewalks the entire way. Carrying all our belongings was especially ready with all the wagon supplies provided by the Brinkleys. We made some great memories as a family and enjoyed our stay.

Owners were great. Perfect for 4 people and plenty to do with games and on property amenities. Extremely well organized and clean. Property is rustic but great layout. Location was perfect for us for surf fishing access right down the street and better proximity to golf courses in area. You’ve got to check out Holy Cow Creamy right down the road. We will be returning for sure.

We had a lovely little spring break getaway at the Turtle Shell. The hosts are extremely communicative and helpful, the house is very well-stocked and appointed, and we enjoyed being close to everything. The only things to mention are things that are really unavoidable; proximity to the main drag and the fact that the second bathroom is not connected to the main living space internally, you need to exit the house, go downstairs, enter the garage and then access it. Not at all a deal breaker, as it didn't bother us and we felt like the house was a very good value, but worth keeping in mind.

I’ll admit I was skeptical of all the fantastic reviews, but I am so glad we gave the Turtle Shell a chance! Great location, the property was spotless, quiet area, and lots of thought out additions as far as beach chairs, cart, picnic table, hammock, kids toys, & grill! Breakfast at Stack “Em High was a favorite. Wonderful waffles & French toast! We can’t wait to return again!

We have stayed at a lot of locations while on,in to the Outer Banks and this is by far the cleanest location we’ve ever stayed at. Terry is extremely helpful with any and all needs. Will definitely recommend this place to our many friends and family that travel to the Outer Banks.

This cottage is very comfortable, it has a nice lived in feel, like your staying at a family members house. It is close to the main road that runs through the Outter Banks which is very convenient and there is a public beach access very close by. There are so many toys provided for both children and adult entertainment, our kids specifically loved the basketball hoop and ping pong table. We have a toddler, and loved the child locks and baby gate provided! There was one small inconvenience, and that was carrying all of our luggage up and down the stairs when we arrived and left, it wasn’t a big deal to us but may be something that might be an issue for future guests to keep in mind. The owners of this cottage are very nice, and even offered to let us check in 4 hours early because they didn’t have any guests the night before us. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would absolutely return!!

Enjoyed our stay and the house had everything we needed for the kids. They enjoyed playing in the garage at night. Everything has labels and easy to access. There is literally everything you need and more! I was very pleased with the way they have thought of everything you need for a family beach vacation. A few things to know about the property: there was an actual building being built right next door so construction going from 7 am until the evening. If you have a choice of beds go for the taller bed on the right side. The other queen bed has a huge crater and does not sleep well. The garage, 4th bed, and 2nd bathroom are totally detached from the main living space (you have to access this area from an outside door)The upstairs shower stall is a tight squeeze but you can male it work. The central location of the house made it nice to visit the Aquarium, Jockey's Ridge, and the Wright Brother's National Park. There are tons of places to eat and shop all around. I rated it less stars because it is right off the main road and all night long we heard loud cars and people racing up and down the road. I appreciate the quick communication with the owners when we needed it.

We had a wonderful time together, about the only time we see each other is when we go to the beach once a year. Great accommodations, great food, great weather! It was just too short!

The house is well kept and very clean. It’s everything you need for a family vacation to the beach. Walking distance to the beach. The owners emailed, called and text. They even offered for us to stay several hours past checkout time. Highly recommend!!

Our family of 6 absolutely loved staying at Turtle Shell Cottage. It had everything we needed and then some! We only needed to pack our clothes, a few beach towels and some food. The cottage itself is very clean, very cutely decorated, everything is thoughtfully labeled, and it literally had everything we needed. The kids enjoyed riding to the beach on bikes (it's about a 5 minute walk). My husband I found the beach wagon so easy to load and push. We would load it up with chairs, beach toys, beach umbrella, mat, etc. All from the cottage! We would also load the cooler with our food and drinks and roll it down to the beach. So easy, so awesome. The outside shower as well as the downstairs showers came in very handy for washing the kids off before heading upstairs. The BBQ was great to cook on, the hammock so relaxing to lay in. We also enjoyed the ping pong table and the corn row game. Upstairs had a chess set that the kids enjoyed very much. The cottage location is pretty awesome as well. It's within walking distance of a few places like Harris Teeter and Ben Franklin gift shop. It was also very easy to communicate with Terry, she was awesome at responding very quickly. I definitely recommend Turtle Shell Cottage for families, we look forward to staying there again in the future.

We came back again because the location and amenities can't be beat. If you have kids, literally everything is provided. We will definitely return. Terry is the nicest person!

One of the things I was worried about when thinking about booking the Turtle Shell was it's proximity to the road. Let me assure you that I hardly noticed that we were by the road. Noise was never an issue. We were comfortable and relaxed. It felt no different that being one street closer to the beach. One of my favorite things about this property is that it had so much not only of what we needed, but also what we wanted. My kids loved riding the bikes around the neighborhood and we regularly enjoyed opening up the garage and having picnic and time for the kids to run around and play when we weren't at the beach. The walk to the beach was easy, even with a 2-year old and the wagon that is provided for lugging gear is very nice and easy to manage. Overall, I highly recommend the Turtle Shell. We hope to make it back there in years to come!

This house comes baby-proofed and includes toys for both indoor and outdoor use. Bathroom downstairs/in basement is the one that has a bathtub. Very convenient to rinse kids off in the outdoor shower and then move them into the nearby bathroom. House is a couple blocks back from public beach access that includes a wooden walkway without steps (nice if you have littles and lots of stuff!) Will stay again!

We enjoyed our stay at the Turtle Shell! The house has everything a family needs for a great vacation and the beach is an easy walk away. Cute, clean, fun cottage.

This place is amazing and everything we thought it would be they had everything we needed and if anything went wrong they are sure it got fixed. We defiantly recommend anyone with a family or a place to rent at the beach this place would be perfect.

We had a great weekend at the OBX. The house had everything a family would need so we didn’t have to pack so much. The house was a short walk to the beach and near restaurants and shopping.

This was our second year coming back and it was a blast! Lots of updates since the last time we visited and enjoyed everything! Having the garage packed with beach accessories really helped out with the short walk to the beach! Def suggest this one for anyone looking for something affordable and with good reach. Food options are plenty, two groceries stores within walking distance. The actual location is on a side road that helps give some privacy and minimal traffic noise. Look forward to coming back again!

We had two mechanical problems with the stay, and they were very quick to remedy both issues. Very pleasant about the issues and went above and beyond to solve them.
