We had a truly lovely time in Southern Shores at this property. The area/ neighborhood felt very safe and peaceful, and had all the amenities we needed - perfect for a stay where we just wanted to go screenless, cook, and walk to the beach. Our dogs loved sunbathing on the deck and with the multiple gates and fenced backyard, we never worried about them escaping and getting lost! Location is very convenient with no essential service less than 5 mins drive. Thank you so much for hosting us!

Wonderful location for my extended family to enjoy the Christmas season with me

I set out to rent a house in Duck but all the houses were really too big (sleeps 18?). I was looking for a comfortable dog friendly home reasonably close to the beach. Boy did we luck out. The house was very nice. The fenced in backyard was perfect. But the neighborhood!! I hadn’t heard of Southern Shores, but it is a delight. Shh!!! Don’t tell anyone!

My family and family's dog stayed here the 2nd week of September. Fantastic trip. The hosts Drew and Sarah were very responsive in answering some pre-trip questions and then getting us sorted out mid-trip to stay an added day. A few items around the place need some maintenance but overall it's a lovely property that is clean, well-furnished, private and well-located. On the first day, I was concerned with my older parents getting to the beach as it is a 10 min. walk, but to our surprise, the parking lots which passes are provided for were always 90-100% empty so we began driving to the beach for most trips. The walk is fine for non-seniors. There's a lighted cross-walk to cross over the main road to the beach - it did take 5 minutes to change but it's great for safety so I appreciated it. The property has a large, fenced backyard and the deck has stairs that lead directly down into the yard - there's a gate across the front-yard stairs. This made keeping my family's Beagle on the property a delight. You can just open either of the main doors off the deck to let your dog run on the deck or down to the backyard. While not beach-front property, the location is great being down a quiet and private neighborhood and it's only a 10-15 min. drive to restaurants and shops in both the Duck and Kitty Hawk directions. There were just a couple others on the beach ever. Rooms are well furnished and there's a good selection of beach gear. We'll be staying here again.

As a very hard working, single mom, my vacation is important. Sarah and Drew's place was perfect. Every ammenty was there and all the little extras were thought of for me! The beach is gorgeous and such a nice close walk. The neighborhood was perfect for evening dog walking. Loved it! Thank you!

Drew and Sarah’s house is wonderful for all ages. It is clean, spacious, and just a 10-minute walk from the beach. They have thought of everything, including a beach cart to bring any of the many treasures in their storage room that they lend to guests. It was a huge perk for packing and then shopping when we arrived there to be able to focus just on the basics, like groceries, but not on things like spices, a spatula, or a cutting board. They’ve got plenty of extras, too, like an air fryer, blender, and slow cooker. They are super communicative, and are great VRBO hosts. We’re a multigenerational family of 6 plus dog, and everyone was happy. Thank you, Drew and Sarah!

Lovely home in a quiet neighborhood close enough for the family to walk to the beach. Fully stocked kitchen, so making meals for the family was a breeze. All the beach gear was right there, so we really didn't need to bring anything! Lots to do for the kids with a nice amount of games on hand and a great big smart TV for movie night. We had a wonderful week at this special home in a great neighborhood!

House fit our needs perfectly...6 adults and 1 child. Very easy walk to family friendly not crowded beach!! Appreciated all the beach equipment left at the house for us to use so we didn't have to bring it!! Quiet neighborhood location!! Appreciated the first responder (firefighter) discount.

The home is in a great location, close to grocery stores, a few restaurants and of course the beach. The home has a great backyard that was enjoyed by our dogs. The home has a lot of extras that you may have forgotten so you are covered (beach chairs, sand toys, boogie boards etc). Overall it is a great house in a great location!

Our host Drew was extremely responsive and helpful throughout our stay! Great property for dogs and families and large yard. Please note it is quite dark in the evenings with all the surrounding woods (though lovely and private) but makes it difficult to see pups when they are in the far part of back yard at night. The side and back light does help light up most of the yard though. We had LED lighted collars which enabled us to see the pups and recommend those for evening if you want to see where your pups are in the far corners. House had everything we needed and then some! Lots of extra bedding and towels if you need (we did not however but good to know they were available), and several baby/pet gates. Appreciated the "pup towels" for drying off our pups after morning beach walks. Stairs to top level are tricky for dogs not used to non-carpeted steps but our young pups adjusted quickly. Those with older pups might want to be aware of this and keep them on main level. Huge deck to enjoy! Plenty of available beach parking if you don't want to walk the entire way (including shower area and water for dogs in lot).

We were a party of four and brought our beautiful German Shepherd Athena. The home and neighborhood are very dog friendly and quiet. We brought our own things to use but the home was very stocked with essentials and very clean. The deck was a nice size, and the gates were nice if we wanted Athena to not follow us. Very nice place and would definitely book again.

This place was perfect for my family, nice house, clean and had everything you could possibly need on a vacation at the beach. We loved the location the short walk to the beach and the walking trails for us to walk our fur babies. My daughter and daughter in law love the outlets and the small shops for shopping. My husband and son booked a fishing trip and we had a fish fry that night! Loved the area as well not far from anything, the beach was clean with a life guard this was a plus! My son kept saying he loved the house and the way it was set up. Will stay here again! I give this place a 10 out of 10.

The house was very clean upon arrival. Incredibly well-stocked kitchen, plenty of games and books, extra blankets/towels/pillows, beach gear galore - overall an awesome space for a family. The beach was just a short walk away and the two wagons for transporting all of the “stuff” were so convenient. Definitely would consider booking this place again!

Very comfortable home in a quiet neighborhood. Very convenient location to the beach. Everything we needed was there. Abundant beach chairs and umbrellas. Well appointed kitchen with ample cookware, dishes, utensils, etc. Would definitely recommend.

The location is peaceful and calm. It's a short walk to the beautiful beaches and also located close to the sweet little town of Duck, NC. The kitchen is lovely and the living area was comfortable and welcoming. All the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable too! We loved our short trip there and would definitely stay if we head back to the Southern Shores!

Although we did not have kids or pets with us, I can see where this house would work well with the fenced in yard and gated deck. Newer appliances and new bikes and beach cart were pluses. As in an older home, bathrooms are small. Neighborhood path to beach access was shaded to cross busy Rt. 12.

We stayed here with 3 young kids and our dog for Spring Break. It was rainy the first few days so all the TVs really saved us! The fenced in backyard was perfect for the kids and the dog. The place was really clean and in a great location. I highly recommend!

Had another wonderful Christmas with my family and our pups! Hope to return again next year! (PS - The added lighting in the backyard made all the difference!) :)

We stayed at Drew and Sarah's place for our family Thanksgiving and had the best experience. The house is located in a quiet neighborhood just a short 5 minute walk to the beach and close to shops and restaurants. The backyard is fenced and a great size which we really loved for our dogs. You'll have everything you need for a very comfortable stay! Drew and Sarah were extremely quick to respond, helpful and accommodating. We could not ask for better hosts! Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting the outer banks. We will be back for sure!

This property was perfect for our family of three (15 month old in tow) and our two dogs! It was fully stocked with everything you could possibly need, from kitchenware to beach gear, and then some. The location is great -- it's very close driving distance to several grocery stores and Walgreens, urgent care (just in case!), restaurants, and attractions and an easy walk to the beach. The neighborhood was great and safe, and we would definitely come back here even with another family or two (we only utilized the main floor on this trip but upstairs has two good sized rooms and a full bathroom as well). Would definitely stay again! Thanks, Sarah and Drew!

We enjoyed our stay at this beach house which is in a great location with a short walk to the beach, quiet neighborhood, and close to shopping. Very few beach houses allow pets and this house is well suited to dogs. It has a large, shaded, fenced yard and pet supplies available too. The house is well stocked with beach chairs, toys, towels and so much more. One note: travelers should be aware that the stairs inside the house to the second floor are a bit steep and may be difficult for some seniors.

Overall satisfied with the stay. Location was nice and quiet. Parking passes made beach days much more pleasurable. Spacious house with nice open den/kitchen/dining area for everyone to hang out. Only downside I could find was the outside lot could use some cleaning up. Fire pit was a no go for all the debris around. Backyard was very spacious but again could use some cleaning up to make it more useable.

We had a fantastic family vacation. Everything was as pictured. The yard was wonderful for the dogs. The kitchen was well stocked, had so many utensils, pots, pans etc including spices, sugar, coffee filters, too much to name! Drew and Sarah sent detailed information on the property and how to reach them if needed. We only had to reach out once and they were prompt with a reply! Property was so close to the beach, we used the beach down the road twice and at Hillcrest twice. Can’t say enough about the property and location! Thanks again! This property was a perfect fit for us. We were looking for a clean pet-friendly place to stay in a quiet neighborhood near the beach with convenient access to groceries and restaurants. PERFECT FIT! Located in a quiet residential neighborhood just a casual 10 minute walk to the beach, and a 3-minute drive to 2 shopping centers (Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Walmart, Wendys, McDonald's, ...). Nicely decorated and well-stocked throughout. Plenty of towels and linens, beach gear, bikes, deck chairs, games, books, kitchen appliances, and utensils. The gated deck was great for relaxing with our dogs knowing that if we dozed off they were safe. The large fenced-in yard provided ample roaming for the dogs. The entire property was well maintained. Frankly, this place felt more like a home than a rental. Complete and timely communication with Drew and Sarah from the time we booked right through our departure. The few questions we had were responded to promptly. We've rented properties along Carolina's coast for more than 30 years most are one and done, there are very few we feel compelled to return to. We returned home yesterday and are already looking into dates to return here next spring.

My family and I had a lovely time here! There was enough room for all of us and the kitchen was well-stocked with silverware, cups, pans, etc and we loved eating dinner out on the porch. One thing we did not consider when booking (which is not a fault of the house!) was that the stairs were a lot to handle every day for my grandparents in their 80s. Just a heads up to anyone who might have difficulty on stairs! We loved walking the dogs around the neighborhood and enjoyed the beach access. The hosts were very prompt and helpful in their responses!

As I’m so dog centric this is the absolute perfect place and Drew is just a pleasure to talk to. I can’t wait to get back again!

My husband and two dogs had a pleasant stay here. The location is removed enough from the bustle of 158 but close enough to be convenient. Beach access is easy via the neighborhood path. There's a bit more privacy and quiet than most beach houses. We appreciated the enclosed deck and backyard for the dogs. Communication with the owners was clear and easy.
