If you prefer getting away from the crush of tourists and get a feel of rural Portugal, then this rustic little cottage, in a shallow arroyo, on top of the cliffs of the Algarve coast is a great, peaceful place to hang your hat for a while. Ana Maria (the on-site property owner) has lived here for nearly forty years and her graciousness personifies the place she has chosen to call home.

the house is not luxury in terms of facilities, but absolute luxury in terms of location: secluded on a large property near the cliffs with fantastic views of the Atlantic from the terrace. Villa Celeiro is, as the name suggests, a converted barn with old beams, lots of charm and a smart and good arrangement of rooms. open concept of rooms over three levels. We all felt very comfortable and the hospitality and care from the hosts was just perfect. It could not have been better!

We really enjoyed our stay at the quinta of Ana Maria. She is a wonderful host. Upon arrival she proudly showed us around the property which consists of a main house, a connected apartment, and the separate house Celeiro (where we stayed). The property extends all the way to the ocean where you can walk on the edge of fantastic cliffs. Eventually this path leads to the beach. The swimming pool/pond is really nice, also because the temperature is higher compared to the ocean. The Celeiro house has its own private terrace, garden, BBQ. It is cosy, clean and has all necessary utilities like dishwasher and washing machine are available.

Thirty days of peace and beauty. Anna Maria and Simon were wonderful hosts. Hope to return next year or sooner. The location is on the Atlantic Ocean and driving day trips to many Algarve cities is easy.

We absolutely loved the Quinta with the big garden and the property reaching up to the cliff. The house was really beautiful and we enjoyed every morning having breakfast on the terrace. Our kids loved the garden, the dog, cat, and the chickens. The owners and caretakers were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. We will definitely come again!

Wij waren zo gelukkig om hier 6 weken te zijn, werken en vakantie. Het huis is heerlijk, mooier dan op de foto's. Complete keuken, fijne bedden en genoeg ruimte, de tuin is heerlijk. Ook na 6 weken genoten we enorm van het prachtige uitzicht op de zee. Een paar minuten lopen en je staat op een van de mooiste wandelroutes van Portugal, langs de kliffen. Ook met logees was het huis ruim genoeg, wij hadden wel het geluk dat we veel buiten konden zijn. Het terras met barbecue is heel fijn, als het te warm was konden we aan de zijkant van het huis in de tuin zitten. De dag beginnen met een duik in de zwemvijver was echt genieten, hoe koud het ook soms was. Ana Maria was een hele fijne host, problemen werden direct opgelost. Haar hond en kat kwamen regelmatig even buurten, heel gezellig. Ook stond Simon voor ons klaar om eventuele internetproblemen te verhelpen. Het internet werkte goed, wel hebben we het videobellen vooral bedraad gedaan, dit werkte het meest stabiel en de wifi had hier soms wel wat moeite mee. Maar met een netwerkkabel direct op de router werkte het heel goed. Een auto is wel echt nodig, je bent binnen 10 minuten in het centrum van Lagos, een aantal grotere supermarkten zijn nog dichterbij. Praya da Luz is goed te lopen, maar wel een flinke klim op de terugweg. Het enige (kleine) nadeel dat ik ervaren heb is dat ik flink allergisch ben voor katten en ik vermoed dat deze wel soms binnenkomen. Op sommige stoelen kon ik niet zitten zonder veel te niezen. Maar omdat wij vooral buiten waren was dit geen groot probleem.

The house is one of the buildings of an old farm, far from the crowds but in walking distance of the cliffs and a beautiful beach. It has been beautifully renovated, lacks nothing and the views are stunning. We found Ana Maria and Simon to be enthusiastic and helpful hosts.

What a beautiful, charming and quiet place just a few minutes outside of Lagos! Anna, who has during the years transformed this exceptional place, which used to be a traditional farm house before into a unique retreat for her family, is a lovely host, very helpful. House, bathroom and kitchen are well equipped, no complaints whatsoever. Actually, I'd much rather like to keep this place as a secret so that hopefully it would never change, but it definitely deserves 5 stars all the way! Thanks for having us!

Nous avons apprécié le confort de l'appartement spacieux. Il se trouve dans un cadre champêtre et calme dans un grand jardin. Il y a une jolie vue sur la mer au loin et les champs depuis la terrasse. Un chemin se trouve au bout du jardin en haut des falaises qui dominent la mer. De belles balades permettent alors de longer ces falaises pour rejoindre les plages d'un côté ou de l'autre.

We had a fabulous stay in this most beautiful location, surrounded by nature and so close to the sea and beaches. The kids loved the bio pool. Ana Maria was a lovely host and made sure we were always comfortable. We highly recommend and stay at Villa Caleiro.

Das kleine, charmant und liebevoll eingerichtete Haus liegt wunderschön im Grünen, nur wenige Meter von den phantastischen Klippenwanderwegen entfernt. Ein idealer Ort für alle, die Ruhe schätzen und es genießen, zu Fuß ins nahegelegne Luz oder zum Strand zu spazieren. Wir sind auch mal abends eine gute Stunde nach Lagos gewandert. Einfach ein geniale Lage und mit Ana Maria eine sehr freundliche Gastgeberin. Wir kommen nächstes Jahr wieder.

Alles in allem ein beinahe perfekter Urlaub.....und beinahe perfekt weil es den perfekten Urlaub nicht gibt. Wäre aber das Scheiß Corona in Lissabon nicht gewesen...dann wäre es wirklich der PERFEKTE URLAUB gewesen. Traumhaft schön und die Vermieter sind super freundlich und nett.... Von hier aus noch einmal super lieben Dank an die beiden.

Een gezellig huisje gelegen in een prachtige omgeving met adembenemende uitzichten. Je kan de liefde en zorg die er door de jaren heen in het huis is gestoken echt voelen. De tuin is een juweeltje met allerhande prachtige bloemen en planten en door verschillende vogelsoorten bezocht. Gelegen tussen 2 prachtige baaien die op wandelafstand gelegen zijn, perfect voor een leuke wandeling met of zonder hond. Met pijn in het hart vertrokken, we hadden er nog wel enkele weken kunnen vertoeven. Heerlijk.

Etwas abseits von Lagos haben wir wunderschöne Ferien verbringen dürfen! Ein wunderschöner Ort! Wir können es nur weiter empfehlen! Obrigado.

Wir haben unseren Urlaub sehr genossen.

Das Ferienhaus liegt etwas abseits in einem großen Garten. Von der Terasse und dem Garten hat man einen wundervollen unverbauten Meerblick. Bis zur Kliffkante sind es nur wenige Minuten. Das Haus ist gemütlich eingerichtet und mit modernen Elektrogeräten und einem neuen Gasherd ausgestattet. Der perfekte Platz für erholsame Tage an der Algarve.

Absolutely amazing, if you enjoy solitude, Portugal countryside, yet close to shops / supermarkets. 10 minutes drive to beaches, 10 drive to Lagos centre, a beautiful part of Portugal and a good base for exploring the Western Algarve. Hosts amazing, live in caretaker lovely. We all loved the bio lake and swam every day 😃. Can't recommend enough.

Sehr, sehr schöne Lage mit wundervollem Blick auf den Atlantik!

We really liked the estate and enjoyed the silence and view very much. However, there were a few things in the house that we didn't like and expected differently: - We expected to use the pool with our daughter, but didn‘t know about the 3 snakes living in it. Naturally, she refused to get in the pool. - The kitchen equipment is very limited and old, for example the toaster and baking oven didn‘t work properly. - The beds are quite uncomfortable (and too short for tall people like me) and the blankets are too thin for the often chilly temperatures. - There is no WIFI. The signal from the neighboring house isn’t strong enough to enable you to do anything on the internet. - There are many old and used things in the house, like an old stereo system, old DVD player, old magazines from other people who stayed there etc. Of course, dust settles on all of these things. It would be better to through all that old stuff out and clean the place. If we had known about some of these things (e.g. the snakes!), we wouldn’t have rented the house. But the nature and the surrounding is great!

Location is idyllic. Property was private and interesting. Everything there you need. Bring cds and dvds if you like evening entertainment. We were content with the stunning view, pond full of frogs, dragonflies, swifts flying all around and the sound of the sea and crickets. Absolutely beautiful. Iryna the housekeeper is so lovely and welcoming. Definitely recommend this property to nature lovers who like to get away from it all. Need a car. You can visit a different stunning beach everyday. Thank you Ana (property owner) for all your help with setting things up for us. We absolutely loved our stay.

Wir hatten zwei sehr entspannte Wochen in der Villa Celeiro. Der Blick von der Terasse auf den Garten und die dahinterliegenden Felder, zwischen denen man das Meer sieht, ist traumhaft. Die Villa Celeiro liegt nicht direkt am Badeteich, sondern etwas weiter hinten mit einem eigenen Garten und abgeschirmter Terasse, so dass man hier ganz für sich ist. Den Garten mit dem Badeteich kann man natürlich trotzdem nutzen, was wir auch sehr gerne getan haben (zum Baden ist der Teich eher für Kinder geeignet, die schon schwimmen können, da man vom Steg aus direkt ins tiefe Wasser kommt). Den nächsten Strand kann man erreichen, indem man direkt hinter dem Haus an den Steilklippen entlang wandert. Für Erwachsene braucht man ca 30 Minuten, mit einem 3 und einem 5jährigen brauchten wir knapp 2 Stunden pro Strecke - ist dann also eher eine richtige Wanderung, aber wunderschön! Mit dem Auto braucht man etwa 10 Minuten zu den Stränden von Lagos und Luz. Die Besitzerin und die Housekeeper sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und waren immer erreichbar. Die Villa Celeiro ist sehr schlicht eingerichtet. Die Küche könnte etwas besser ausgestattet sein, das Doppelbett im Elternschlafzimmer ist schon sehr durchgelegen, ansonsten ist die Ausstattung Ok. Wenn man hier mit Kindern Urlaub macht, muss man wissen, dass in dem Haus einige Treppen und halbhohe Wände sind, die nicht gesichert werden können - also eher für ältere Kinder. Spielzeug war nicht im Haus, aber uns wurde netterweise eine Kiste Legos und ein Schaukelpferd zur Verfügung gestellt, worüber sich die Jungs sehr gefreut haben. Zum Anwesen gehören auch zwei sehr liebe Wachhunde, die uns, zur großen Freude unserer Kinder, oft auf der Terrasse besucht haben. Wir hatten hier einen wirklich tollen Urlaub und können uns gut vorstellen widerzukommen. Vielen Dank!

We stayed at Villa Celeiro for 10 days in spring 2016. It is a beautiful place, especially in this time of the year. A nice house surrounded by a beautiful garden. Quiet, in nature, but only 10 minutes from Lagos and the beach by car. The house has a pleasant atmosphere. The owner Ana Maria is very friendly and helpful. Our kids like the nature and the frogs in the pool, but prefer an ordinary blue pool. Two small points of criticism: the house could have been a little bit cleaner (not the beds, they were clean) and the wifi only works 5 meters outside the house. But I would definitely come here again!

We had a fantastic week at Villa Celeiro. Really lovely property with lots of space and kept toasty warm by the wood burner. We loved being able to walk and bike along a little track straight onto the coastal path. Owner was ever so helpful via email and housekeepers were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely rent this property again should we fancy another holiday in the area.

Normally we should not tell anybody about this wonderful place as it is very special. A lovely house on a traditional farm with an overwhelming garden, natrural pool and view of the ocean. The walk to the beach along the coastal path on top of the cliffs is very pretty. Last but not least we have been welcomed and take care of by the very pleasant and helpful owners and care-takers. Only the kitchen needs some renovating and new utensils.
