My family and I had an amazing time at this beautiful home. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. Alex was a great host, reaching out to us before our visit and meeting us at the home earlier than the stated check-in time. We say so many monkeys, a sloth and rainbow macaws during our stay. The home was very clean and had everything we needed, including delicious coffee. We even had a private chef come one night and make us a lovely dinner so we didn't have to leave paradise. Close to lots of restaurants and stores. I would 100% return. Thank you for hosting us!

We loved Casa Capuchin and Costa Rica. We stayed a week with family and did an excursion everyday set up by Alexander. He was so helpful and really made our vacation wonderful. It was great to be within walking distance to shops and food, but also had the option to call a taxi whenever needed if the hill was too much for us. We saw monkeys all three kinds from the house, macaws rested on the tree right outside, and the pool was perfect for a cool down. Highly recommend the private chef experience. Thank you for the memories.

We had an amazing time the last week in March staying at Casa Capuchin - Alexander, the property manager, made everything go so smoothly - booked adventures, arranged transportation, booked restaurant reservations. House was amazing - great location with awesome views, walking distance to many great restaurants, bus stop close to take to beach, tons of wildlife right from the living area! Would definitely stay again!

This is an absolutely amazing property. I literally gasped when we walked through the front door at the view. Pictures can not do it justice. We found the location to be perfect for us as we were able to walk to restaurants, market, ATM, and some of the activities we wanted to do. Communication with property manager was great and he saved us money on some of our excursions by booking directly for us. We did not book a single activity until the day before because we wanted to wait and see what the weather forecast looked like and we never had any issues being able to do a single thing we were planning on doing. The housekeeper was outstanding and all of us enjoyed the towel animals she made for us each day. She truly made the trip so much more enjoyable as I never had to worry about doing laundry or cleaning up. As a mom, that is a very rare treat! As others have mentioned the wildlife here can not be beat. The monkeys came on a daily stroll through the property around 3-4 pm. One even stole our banana bread off the kitchen counter. We got some great pictures of that happening. A few things that may be helpful to know when planning on visiting this beautiful property:
•Property was loaded with pool/ beach towels- you will not need to bring any with you
•you are on a street with many other homes so you will not feel isolated
•local government taxes add 13% on all charges to credit cards for activities so you may want to bring your ATM card and use cash

This is a special property. Gorgeous house with amazing views. The host, Alexander, was extremely responsive and helpful in setting up tours (most will pick you up at the house). Some of our favorites were Catamaran cruise, zip lining, and Villa Vanilla (organic spice farm - sounds like it would be boring, but it was surprisingly interesting and interactive including pastries, ice cream, and drinks made using their spices). Our favorite past time was watching the monkeys play in the pool everyday. They came every morning and evening. We planned our excursions around those times. They have a cabinet to lock up your food. We forgot one day and they got into our Oreo's. We saw at least 3 sloths, multiple Macaws, Toucans, and the nightly Kinkajou. We were actually disappointed in our tour of Manuel Antonio park because we saw many more animals at the house. Our 2 favorite restaurants were Retaurante Ronny's (go there for sunset - great view - get reservations) and Rafaeles Las Terrazas (amazing 180 degree view of the ocean). El Wagon had great wood fired pizzas and they deliver to the house even during a rain storm. Runaway at the Marina in Quepos also had amazing sunset views. Be aware that one of the queen bedrooms is a loft bed. You have to climb up a spiral staircase to get to the bed. And the bed is tight against the wall so one person has to climb over the other when getting out. Not a good room for elderly (especially if they get up a lot in the middle of the night).

Location of the home is great! Alex and Mauricio are great to work with. This is an open air house except the bedrooms so understand that prior to arrival. Wildlife is everywhere!

The house is beautiful - a very fun property. The included cleaning service was a great touch. House manager was very helpful in booking tours, transportation and offering local advice.

Wonderful experience!
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Casa Capuchin! Alexander was very informative and responsive to any need we had. The house was beyond our expectation in terms of viewing wildlife and the spaciousness to accommodate 6 adults. We each had privacy as well as beautiful spaces to gather. The pool was wonderful! Our housekeeper, Jessie was amazing! Her towel creatures were a treat each day. Alexander booked a chef for us, and we were amazed yet again by the fresh deliciousness of Costa Rican fare! We can't wait to return!

Unique and Amazing!! 🤩
A highlight of our trip to Costa Rica was staying in this home! We saw more wildlife here than you could ever imagine! 🦜🐒🦎 Alex the property manager was extremely helpful with anything we needed. He ordered groceries for us and even gifted us a birthday cake for our son! The open air set up with fans is wonderful and the bedrooms have air conditioning. The pool is a perfect place to cool off while watching the sunset, toucans, macaws, and monkeys! The kitchen has all the necessities to make meals easily. If you prefer to eat out, there are restaurants within walking distance too! Lucky are we to have found such a clean and unique treasure of a home! Highly recommend!

Absolutely Fabulous
My family stayed in Casa Capuchin the week of Christmas 2021. It was one of the most enjoyable vacation experiences I have had, and I travel quite a bit (although this is the first review I've ever done). The house is great, and uniquely combines comfort and outdoor living. Alex, the host, is friendly, very knowledgeable about the area, and almost instantly responsive to questions/requests. He set us up with great activities and made it easy to find the best beaches, shopping, etc. I really didn't want to leave.

Wow, Wow & full 360 Wow!!
This was our 1st time in Costa Rica, and we were all blown away with Casa Capuchin. Our family trip of 4 somehow became a blended trip of two families (12 of us total). And not all 12 of us stayed in the house but we were fortunate to rent another home within 3 mins walking distance. Casa Capuchin is amazing!!! The views of the ocean & rainforest in every room of the house with windows from floor to ceiling, the open space (you have the outdoors and indoor blended into one), and the view of the ocean, along with the daily visit of the capuchin monkeys and tropical birds was astonishing. Yessinia, the housekeeper, was truly a gem. She maintained the house amazingly and did our laundry every day. She is a wonderful individual. I speak Spanish so I was able to communicate with her and enjoyed having her around. I would look for her every morning while I would drink my coffee and just enjoyed our morning chat. The host, Alex, welcomed us when we first arrived. He arranged transportation from San Jose Airport to Casa Capuchin, and the transportation company waited for us while customs took over 1 hour after we landed. Alex is a very personable host and helpful in setting up tours, transportation, activities, and any help you need to make your trip enjoyable. He offered his services and is available 24/7. My adult kids enjoyed the audio sound system and it gave an upbeat vibe and with an amazing view!! We have visited so many other places, and we were always homesick by the end of our vacation. With this vacation, we didn't want to come back home. We will definitely be back and hopefully for a much longer stay!

Paradise
This was my second time to be fortunate enough to stay at this incredible home. Alexander was again wonderful to our entire family, from reservation to checkout. He not only warmly welcomed us all, but provided local guidance to activities, restaurants, and much more including setting up the best fishing adventure of my life. While we enjoy walking into a great rental for the first time, this is one of a very few properties that I would always love to use again and again. The views, the area, and the overall service will exceed your expectations as they did ours, twice now. Stay here, I am sure that you will tell your friends to do the same just like we have.

Heaven
What can I say? From the house itself to Alex (the host) and Yessenia (the housekeeper) to the wildlife that comes onto or nearby the property, this place is heaven.
The house is beautiful, as described. It has a fully outdoor kitchen, dining room, and living room. The views are as good as you get in Manuel Antonio. The bedrooms are huge, very well air-conditioned, with very comfortable beds.
The housekeeping (and everyday laundry service...thank you Yessenia!) are to die for. Adding Chef Glenda to a few breakfasts and dinners (if not all!) are also very nice. Alex was kind enough to book several activities in advance of our stay, and was easily able to meet our real time requests for groceries, take out, etc. he was also able to get us activities with less than 24 hour notice! An example was a booking with a guide to Manuel Antonio Park (Efrain) who may just be the most knowledgable guide there is. I won’t give away the reason, as you will hear the story on your guided trip to the park from Efrain himself. Is it worth the additional price? Absolutely.
We were two families of four with kids between the ages of 7-10. At first, the fact that the house is on a hillside was a little intimidating for the moms. Nonetheless, the kids did great and we were all in love with Casa Capuchin by day two forward.
The animal life is the only thing that is not described well enough in the description. We had multi-daily visits of both Capuchin and Squirrel monkey troops. I think we had over 40 squirrel monkeys on the deck at one time! The howler monkeys make a morning and evening walk across the rope just in front of the house into a tree clearly visible from the property. Three scarlet macaw parrots made a daily appearance to one of the trees in front of the property. There were also many different color birds, parakeets, etc that would visit us daily. Finally, the two highlights of the trip:
1). Having some cocktails and watching the numerous geckos hunt the insects that get too close each evening. Seriously, we were audibly rooting for them each night; and
2). The Kinkajou that was on the palm tree directly behind the pool one evening!
Overall, I don’t think a family of 8 could have stayed in a more beautiful, well-kept, more convenient, best animal life, and with the most awesome staff ever. After 8 nights there and sitting at home right now, I truly can’t wait to come back!!!

Awsome place!
Perfect stay. The property manager Alex is awesome!!!! He is better than any concierge in a 5-star hotel. He arranged all our tours zip line, rappelling a waterfall, ATV wild water rafting and massages at the end of the day. Furthermore, he is there 24/7. Thank you, Alex! If you stay, book chef Glenda. She made us gourmet breakfast and dinners better than any restaurant!
Just tell he what you like, and she goes shopping and cooks it for you. In the morning just open your eyes when you are in bed, the Bedrooms have a prefect view of the national park Manuel Antonio. I don't want to rave too much about the place than it is booked when we want to come back....

Absolute Luxury
Our group of 6 adults spent a week at this property and were blown away by the perfection of it. The photos can’t really do it justice. Along with the lovely communal living area, each couple had more than enough privacy with the bedroom suites. We were highly impressed with the attention to detail; nice linens, towels, laundry service, and amenities placed throughout the home. But most of all, the people were all wonderful to interact with. Clear communication with quick responses. Alex handled any requests we had for tours, transportation, etc. The housekeeping was impeccable, and the chef team created beautiful breakfasts and dinners that we will never forget. Can’t wait to go back!

This house is amazing! We have decided to use this house as our home away from home each time we visit. Love it!!!

It all begins with Alexander (property manager), he was easy to reach right out of the gate (and throughout our stay) and was extremely attentive during the entire vacation. He is very professional and easy to work with. Alexander is also a concierge of sorts....any trips or excursions can be booked through him and he usually gives you several options. Alexander lined up a chef service for our group and this made our trip! CHEF GLENDA and her family are the absolute best. All of the meals were of the highest quality...we saved hundreds of dollars by going with Glenda and we made local friends. Melvin, Angelo and Celia...thank you for every delicious mea! Book Glenda as soon as you book Casa Capuchin!Another plus was the DAILY maid service...Jesse keeps this luxury home in top condition. Everything is spotless. It seemed that Jesse had our laundry cleaned and back in our room as soon as it hit the floor...the daily towel animals were a plus as well. Jesse does not stop working from sun up to sun down...an amazing person. The home itself is beautiful and as I mentioned, well maintained. Casa Capuchin is stocked with everything your family could possibly need and if you forgot something, Alexander will get it for you quickly. In summary, the home itself is worth the trip but, the people who are associated with Casa Capuchin make it truly special. We were treated better then we ever expected and we will be back soon.

Family Vacation
We recently returned from Casa Capuchin, where we had an amazing time. We found the property to be exactly as described. It is true that there are many stairs, so this may not be an ideal choice for very small children or frail, elderly adults. However, we travelled with our adult children and the space was perfect for us. Bedrooms across three floors helped provide privacy (and air conditioning) when we wanted it, and the fantastic open plan living and kitchen areas provided us with ample space to hang out together. The pool is not large, but it is perfect for relaxing and cooling down in the heat of the day, and the views over the ocean are stunning - both sunrise and sunset were beautiful. Having daily maid service kept the place immaculate, which is important given these areas are open to the elements. We did not have any issues with bugs of any kind, and we felt completely safe as the road side of the property is secure. One of the highlights of our trip was waiting for the capuchins to visit - which they did, briefly, every day - and watching them play. We also saw toucans and heard the howler monkeys in the early morning. We also enjoyed trips to Manuel Antonio national park (though it was hot and busy!) where we saw many creatures including monkeys and sloths. We really enjoyed visiting Rainmaker as it was uncrowded and we got to swim in the waterfalls (though it is not for the fainthearted as it does require climbing up and down steps that frankly could benefit from more repair) and we liked the chocolate/sugar cane tour very much as we felt we learned something as well as getting to taste the chocolate.
Alex is really as helpful as previous reviews have suggested. He helped us out with booking trips and arranging a chef one evening, and we benefited from his suggestion that we also allow time just to relax and not to over-book. He also was a life saver when we had an issue with our rental car - a friend in our time of (self-inflicted) need. With his help, what could have been a disaster became just part of our Costa Rica adventure. Thank you Alex! We hope to be back one day.

Beautiful View!
What a great experience at Casa Capuchin. From the start when Alex greeted us upon arrival (allowing an early check in too) and showed us all the features of the house. He had great referrals for restaurants and excursions. Setting us up with ATV tour and a sunset catamaran cruise with discounted pricing. The house is fantastic. Great views and comfortable bedding. With the breezes the outdoor living area and kitchen were very comfortable. Some comments talk about walking down to the beach. It’s a 25 minute walk down hill to get there, but walking up that hill after a long day at the beach is no fun. We hotch d a ride on the way up. There is parking down at the beach and we drove the next day, just had to pay a few bucks. We would definitely stay at this beautiful home again!

Excellent Property
This property/staff/location is excellent and my review will attemp to do them justice. The house is awesome. We had a group of 9 ages 45 to 6. The rooms a are big and the beds are comfortable. The living areas and kitchen were well appointed and had everything we needed. Alex was very responsive and book all of our excursions. I highly recommend getting the in home chef (arranged thru Alex) for at least one dinner. It was the best meal of our trip hands down. Yessinia is the housekeeper and is the best. She is at the house everyday but you barley know she is there. Our kids loved her!! This was the trip of a lifetime and we can’t wait to go back!!!

Beautiful home, great location
We stayed at Casa Capuchin for one week. The house is beautiful and well maintained, and it is located on a quiet road within walking distance of some good restaurants and shopping. The beaches are a 5 minute drive from the house. We saw Capuchin monkeys daily, and also saw Howler monkeys and a sloth! Alexander arranged multiple excursions for us, all of which were fantastic. We highly recommend Casa Capuchin!

Perfect Costa Rica getaway
First time VBROers so we were excited based on the pictures but also still wondering if we were going to be disappointed. The house matches the pictures perfectly so you will not be surprised in a bad way. Alexander was awesome. He helped us navigate to the house as we were first time visitors to Costa Rica. Then he helped us with activities and they were all excellent. We did use the chef service even though the restaurants in the area were excellent. They cooked a wonderful meal and even cleaned up. The house keeping was also excellent. The Wifi was fast and reliable. I can't comment on the TV because we didn't even turn the TV on. There is an ipad by the TV with all the information you need for your stay which again was awesome. We were visited by 3 types on Monkeys everyday along with the beautiful birds you would expect in a tropical rain forest. The views from the top two bedrooms are the best. But also the lowest bedroom offers a lot of privacy and you feel like you are in the jungle. When you go on vacation you do not want to be hassled by little things and the setup of the home and Alexander's excellent service took care of all of it and we just enjoyed our trip. We are officially spoiled and we want to avoid hotels from now on when we go on vacation.

Absolutely outstanding house.
This is an absolute beautiful property. Parking would be a little tight in front of the house if you had more than two vehicles. Alex is super friendly and helpful. He's your go to guy from ordering you a pizza to having booze delivered to your door.
We had a small wedding ceremony on the back porch and it worked out splendidly. What an awesome view!
We will definitely be back.

Wow
Just got back from spending a week at Casa Capuchin. Amazing house couldn't ask for better. Beautifully decorated and had everything we needed and then some The view was breathtaking. Alex got us everything we needed, made all of our arrangements for us. The house was always amazing clean. Came home one day to find 8 pairs of muddy sneakers all clean and drying. Thought we would throw some away they were so bad. We had Alex arrange for someone to cook us dinner the first night after traveling all day. It was one of the best meals we had. Highly recommend it.
Do the off road dune buggies. So much fun. All I can say is go you'll have fun.

Better than home away from home. Dream home awaits!
Casa Capuchin is the most amazing vacation rental I have ever stayed in. We had 9 people in the house and everyone was extremely comfortable. The wildlife that comes to the house is worth the stay alone. Everyday we had a completely different wild animal experience...it was perfect. I would 100% recommend this home to anyone going to Costa Rica. Alex will be your best resource when here and before you come with tours. Definitely use his knowledge it is worth it! The only recommendation I would have would be no one under 10 years old should be in the party. The home is quite modern and some of the areas require ability to understand what dangers could happen.

the house, the vacation...just amazing and everything we hoped it would be!
It was a family vacation, 9 of us from 4 to 64 yrs old. We started our vacation by having our 4 yr old fall in the airport on our way there and needed 13 stitches. Great, right? When we first got to the house, my first impression was "Oh my God, its a death-trap." All marble, sharp edges, stairs and railings with only 2 cables to stop you from falling to your death, someone is gonna get hurt. I was a little paranoid after what happened. But guess what, we were fine. My second impression was that's the most beautiful house I've ever been in. Stunning. My only real negative was the loft bedroom had a musty odor to it that never really went away like we had hoped it would. Everything else was perfect. Jessie, the maid was amazing. Our 4 yr old took to her like a magnet, and Jessie loved her right back, it was so sweet. I felt weird having a maid there, washing my clothes, cleaning around us, but I was glad I didn't cancel, she was the best, and she moved around like a ninja. Alex, the concierge was equally as amazing. He said he was available 24/7 and (sorry, Alex!) we proved that was true! He helped us with dinner/taxi reservations, excursions, transportation to/from airport, restaurant suggestions...he did it all! There's a grocery store, restaurants, a pharmacy, anything you need within walking distance. And for 60 cents you can take a bus (comes every 15 minutes) and go to the beach, Manual Antonio National Park, Quepos (an awesome 'real Costa Rican-feeling' town). Super easy.
Oh, and you want to see monkeys? you will. They never took anything from us,...oh wait, they took our little pink whale inflatable, but that was so funny, we couldn't stop it - but that was it. It was so much fun when we had our "invasions" of 6-7 monkeys checking us out every couple of days, coming so close to us! We saw toucans there too! I highly recommend the jungle buggy tour and the zip-lining that Alex recommends (even the 4 yr old zip-lined!) Out of everything we did, and we packed a lot of things in, those were our favorites (note: you need to pay in cash day of) . The beach was great too, the literature says to avoid the beach in Manual Antonio as its over-crowded, but when we went there were maybe 30 people there, it was perfect! Just don't forget the sunscreen. We were all fried to a crisp after kayaking (also awesome). We felt safe always, and plan on going back! Our 4 yr old didn't want to ever leave (a pool in the living room - duh!)

Incredible
The house was breathtaking! The views are second to none! It had everything you could ever need to enjoy the property! From the daily visits from the monkeys to the beautifully appointed bedrooms we felt very spoiled! To be able to watch a thunderstorm sitting in the livingroom looking out the open back of the house was such a unique experience!! The house is very well cared for by its amazing staff. And we can't say enough about Alex! He was incredibly helpful in organizing reservations, taxis and a chef to come in to cook us a special dinner!
Casa Chapuchin is in a class of its own❤️

Awesome House
This house is located down the hill from the main road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio Park. A 5 minute walk UP the hill gets you to a number of good restaurants, supermarket, etc. We had numerous monkey visitors which made the trip for our two boys. I would not recommend this house to children under the age of 10. The stairs and railings are not up to US safety standards. That being said, the house is truly awesome. Air conditioned bedrooms, open air living space with an infinity pool. Our housekeeper, Yesenia tidied the house everyday, and did laundry, no worry vacationing. Alex the house manager took care of everything else from taxis to dinner reservations to activity arrangements. The view is truly spectacular. You feel as though you are living in a tree house, albeit, a luxurious one.

Incredible home with beautiful views!
The home was fantastic. We were 3 couples and we all had great thoughts of this incredible home. We loved the open floor plan for the common areas. The maid took great care of the home and kept it immaculate all week. Alex the property manager arranged everything for us for all of our excursions. We loved the fact the monkeys came to visit each day. We had both Capuchin and squirrel monkey’s visit the home during the week as we sat around the pool. We loved how the Capuchins would come by and lounge around the pool, sometimes taking hanging half in and half out of the pool. Many restaurants are close by, and I was able to check several items off my bucket list in Costa Rica. This is a great area and had days with relaxing at the beach and other days were action packed with fishing, ATV tour, sunset cruising. Definitely stick with seafood in the area. You cannot go wrong with seafood. Definitely try the ceviche.

Don't think twice...this place is the best!
Casa Capuchin is an amazing place to find peace amongst nature. Not only is the house beautiful but the area is very secure and the view...pictures just don't do it any justice. It was enjoyable for our whole group which included young children and their grandparents. We interacted with 3 types of monkeys, we saw sloths, toucans, beautiful birds and every sound nature has to offer. The staff was superb, especially Ms. Desenia the housekeeper. She is so nice and attentive that you feel right at home. Alex was very helpful and kind. The restaurants and activities in the area are great. I have absolute nothing negative to say and we will be going back soon.
