Warm and cozy stay in the heart of Montauk. Close to town, gurneys and the beach. Hot tub was lovely in the winter

We had an incredible long weekend stay in November. The house is extremely comfortable for 2 families. There are two living rooms (one on each floor) to hang out in as well as a cozy pool house space. The 10 person dining room table made our meals together relaxing and enjoyable. Kitchen is fully stocked with enough cups, plates, pots and pans to cook for a big family. The property is spacious, beautiful and completely fenced in. The beach is within walking distance from the house and we enjoyed our strolls there every day. We really enjoyed our time at this Montauk escape and will definitely come back in the future.

Stayed here with a small group over labor day weekend. Communication prior to the stay was great. Check-in day of / walk-through was easy to schedule. The home itself was comfortable. Such a lovely and peaceful location. The pool is amazing! We really enjoyed our stay.

My family and 2 dogs stayed here for our beach vacation. I need to preface this review with this. 1) we had a pretty rainy week and the second is that Carter and his wife are lovely and responsive to any concern I brought to their attention.
The home is as described though not as big as it looks. The main floor is a nice open space.This is where the 8 of us spent a lot of our time. There is space to eat and sit so that was good- the downstairs sitting area didn’t get used by us for just hanging out. it simply feels kind of basmenty. No real natural light- not bad per say- it just didn’t provide a 2nd living space for us as I thought it would. The two bedrooms on the bottom floor were damp most of the time. Sheets and clothes all got that damp camping feel overnight. The twin bunk room is very small so good for kids but not fabulous for a couple of adults.
The house is nice and comfortable but don’t bring a lot of extra stuff- there is very little space for your own belongings. The decorating style is such that all spaces are covered with something. So many books which I loved looking at but ended up moving off shelves simply so I could put my clothes somewhere. The house almost has a feel that the owners use the home a lot. My husband and I have loved Montauk for years but had never shared it with our grown kids. This house was the perfect place to introduce the family to Montauk. Great location to be near all the area has to offer yet you are tucked away with privacy when you want it.
The pool is definitely a highlight. We had some not so great weather for beach days so being able to enjoy the pool was perfect. Also my granddaughter loved it. House is great for being together but has enough little spaces to have time to yourself.
My husband used the bikes every morning- my son worked in the pool house- plenty of seating to eat lunch or lounge on the deck.
We enjoyed our week at this Montauk Oasis.

House layout was awesome for our two families and dog. Beachy, relaxed, tons of places for everyone to hang out together and on their own. Carter was so friendly and responsive. Can’t beat having a private beach so close to town. Would return!!!

Brought family, including 3 grandchildren, from Oregon to visit “the end.” My wife grew up on LI and we lived there when our daughter was a grade schooler.
The pool was wonderful in a very private and secluded garden. We used it every day and used the grill often.
House itself was old Montauk beach house, a little quirky but that was part of the charm in a great and quiet neighborhood.
An extensive collection of books on varied subjects, many with a nautical theme, would take a lifetime to read.
The property is perfect for a family vacation such as ours.

Great house and property! House set up was perfect for our needs, the extra pull out couch in the pool house worked out well. Everything was clean and in great shape. Kids loved playing in the pool, the two shallow ends (middle was 5 feet) was perfect for the kids to play games with each other. We also all enjoyed the hot tub. Easy access to the beach, whether walking or driving, made it convenient to go to at any point of the day. We also enjoyed the use of the bikes that were on the property. Carter was a great host!

Our family had the best time at this house in Montauk! Carter was extremely accommodating and responsive when we asked questions. The location is awesome — great for getting to the beach easily and also for going on a run. The backyard pool and cabana area was so relaxing. The house has child proof gates at every stair threshold, which was great for both our one year old twins and our older dogs. Cannot say enough good things about this house or our time in Montauk. Can’t wait to come back!

Carter was a great host! As soon as we arrived he gave us a full walk thru to make sure we had everything we needed. The place was beautiful and fit our group of 11 comfortably. We loved hanging by the pool and playing games at the dining room table. Absolutely loved our stay!! Would definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay at Carter’s house. The house was spacious, the yard was beautiful, and the pool was a major bonus! The beach is a short walk away, but it was very nice to have access to the private parking lot to cart all our gear. Although we are past the point of needing it for our own children, we totally appreciated all the child proofing and self-locking gates. Kids loved the bunk rooms! Carter was very responsive. A great week in Montauk!

Carter was a wonderful host and this property has it all. Plenty of room for our large group, the house beautifully decorated and appointed. The pool is gigantic and was a hit with everyone and the jacuzzi was an added bonus. Everything is clean, well-maintained and there are so many little personal touches from the many books to the art to the furniture. The location is also wonderful, walking distance to a private homeowner ocean beach that is never crowded. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

This was a great property for our family vacation. There were 12 of us and the property was wonderful. Very private but close to the beach and town. The pool and hot tub were a plus and enjoyed by the kids and adults alike. Carter was a great host and super responsive. We would definately rent this property again!

5 adults and 3 kids under 6 1/2 yo—had an absolutely delightful time at the pool, hot tub, and a number of local beaches! Local Clam Bar and Lobster Roll are reasonable restaurants and IGAs in Montauk, Amagansett, and North Hampton are pricier than out in the rest of the NE, but not terrible, so doing cooking and grilling at the place is quite reasonable. All and All a great time!!

Charming cottage by the beach
This charming property had the most beautiful backyard with a pool and a hot tub that we enjoyed everyday! The beach was a short walk and the location into town was perfect- just a few minutes drive away! Carter, the owner, was super responsive and friendly. We really enjoyed our time there and didn’t want to leave!!

Sweet 16
Carter was so easy to work with. The house is prime location for the beach and town. It has everything you could possibly want or need. He allowed us to have some girls over for my daughter’s sweet 16 and they absolutely loved it. They left and my 70 parents came. It’s a great house for all ages. We would love to rent it again in the future. It’s been a dream of ours to rent a house in montauk and it finally came true. Not many houses have a pool and hot tub and are walking distance to the beach. It was perfect.

Perfect Second Stay and Looking Forward to Many More
This was our second time staying in Carter's beautiful Hither Hills home and we were even more impressed than the first trip we made a couple years back. To start, Carter is a phenomenal host! Whether it's his responsiveness in all communication, or his making sure you have everything you need for a fantastic stay, everything is first class. As for the property, the home is beautiful and is as advertised! The pool and hot tub are perfect, the yard meticulously manicured, and the house stocked with all appliances / utensils you could ask for. Even the interior aesthetics make it truly feel like a "home" and not just another property. Thank you again Carter for an amazing stay, we all look forward to coming back for many trips to come!

We were there for a few days. (Dogcation Trial) Wow! Everything was perfect. We had a wonderful time staying at Carter’s house. He’s awesome. A friendly welcome, amazing house and surroundings.
Great location near to everything we could need. Only a 5 minute stroll to beach and short drive into the center of Montauk. We loved taking our dogs for a walk along the beach in the morning then headed up Montauk center. There are several dog friendly restaurants and shops. (We did make new friends along the way (both two, and four-legged)!
