My family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens, 1 child) and my sister’s family of 3 (2 adults, 1 child) just had one of our best vacations ever visiting Yosemite and Bass Lake while staying at this gorgeous property. I cannot reiterate enough how amazing the pool area outside is! From the youngest kid to the oldest adult, we all wanted to spend as much time out there as possible! Dee, the property manager, is so helpful and communicated with us starting the week before, day of and throughout our 5 night stay. She was very responsive when we had concerns and even brought us a toaster oven and air fryer since the oven in the house needs to be replaced. (Yes, we spent lots of time at the house to enjoy the outdoor pool area and views of the mountains, so we wanted to cook!) I gave the home a 4 star on cleanliness of property only because there are areas (semi-hidden, but not completely) where things have been “stored” that are broken or need to be repaired that really just need to be hauled off the property - however these things in no way hindered our stay! The only other thing is there is constant drip right in front of the front door that you have to step to the side to not get dripped on when you walk outside. Dee mentioned this but it never stopped and the rug was sopping wet when left from it, so it is something that needs to be addressed. We would definitely stay here again! Distance to Bass Lake is 15 minutes Yosemite gate 30 minutes. Awesome location!

We were thrilled to stay in such a comfortable and spacious compound and to have such a short commute into Yosemite National Park.

This place was so nice it was tempting to not leave a review in hopes there would be more availability for us to return in the future. The views are incredible, the photos can't do them justice. It isn't a "luxury" home on the interior but that wasn't what our group was interested in. It was a little small for our group of 8 adult friends that weren't interested in sharing beds, but we obviously knew that going in and spent nearly all of our time outdoors so we didn't mind. The outdoor space is fantastic. Too cold to use the pool in April but nobody minded, or really had any plans to swim outdoors in April in the mountains to begin with. There was a cat on the property that we were asked to not let inside but it proved too difficult to achieve as it was determined to get in the door at all times. If you open the door to carry something out it would zip in. Extremely cute & friendly cat but worth noting in case a member of your party is allergic. For us the cute and friendly cat was a value add. Unanimous vote among all 8 of us that it is worthy of a repeat stay in the future if they will have us. We have done this trip every year for 10 years or so and this is only the 2nd place we have wanted to do a repeat.

House is perfect and cozy with everything you need. The property is really cool with the large enclosed area, we enjoyed the views from there as well as the hot tub. Easy location with access to the town for all the essentials.

Beautiful home with all the amenities, the pool area with hot tub is gorgeous, sunsets are incredible. Close to restaurants, shopping, Bass Lake and Yosemite.

What a totally amazing property- we felt like we were at our own personal resort. The outdoors has everything you need to have a completely wonderful family vacation - with the most breathtaking views. The house was nice too with good space to be with a large group. But honestly we barely spent time indoors. Sadly the week we were there the Yosemite fire had started so we could not easily get into Yosemite - we were just so grateful for the fantastic house as we had so much fun hanging out there.

We stayed here for our trip to Yosemite. It is 90 minutes to the valley floor and 30 to the Mariposa Sequoia grove. The views are amazing, the pool was great for hot days and the games were really fun for hanging out. A nice bonus is that the town Oakhurst is very close so while you feel you're not near anything based on the views, you're 10 minutes from groceries, donuts (Judys donuts) and stores/gas. One thing to mention, there are two friendly cats that hang around the property outside. They didn't really bother us but definitely stayed around us while we were outside.

My family had such an amazing time at the Villa. The grounds were beyond our expectations. The home provided everything one could need or want. Thank you James and of course Dee, you were exceptional.

The home & Grounds were Amazing. My kids enjoyed the pool extremely (although heated water would've allowed the adults to swim as well) but the Hot Tub made up for it!! We also Loved the game room. Playing Pool was definitely a hit for our older boys. The Views were Breathtakingly Beautiful. Sunsets were Amazing!! We will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you for sharing your home with us. Everything was fantastic! The property was better than advertised with every amenity we could imagine. Remarkable views and the mountain breeze kept us comfortable on hot days.

Couldn't have asked for more from our stay. Delightful property, beautiful landscaping, tons of space. Grill worked great, hot tub was large enough for seven, view was excellent, and easy proximity to the town of Oakhurst. Even well-stocked with kitchen gear if you want to cook and eat at the property. Also, Dee was quick to respond when we had any questions. Looking forward to my next stay.

Perfect place to enjoy family time and incredible views. Played games and soaked in the hot tub while enjoying the best views ever!

This property is nicely located within a few minutes from Bass lake and a short drive away from Yosemite. The amenities this property offered were awesome. I have recommended this place to my friends and will be visiting again.

This location was absolutely beautiful. The sunsets in the evenings were incredible. The home was perfect for our family. The pool was wonderful but having basketball, corn hole, bocci, & air hockey kept ensured there was something for everyone. Highly recommend

Beautiful property! The house is nice but the real showstopper is the pool deck. What a view! Looking forward to coming back in a warmer season to take more advantage of the outdoor space.

Stop looking! This place has everything you will need and a whole lot more. Views that are breath taking and so many ways to sit, relax and enjoy them. Fun outdoor activities and if the weather is not cooperating pop inside to the game room. With an easy drive to Yosemite and a town nearby, its perfectly located. Plus with the added bonus of Bass Lake nearby gives you a lot to do. You won't be disappointed.

We had a great time staying at this place. There were so many things to do which we didn’t have time to explore after a long hiking. But I definitely recommend this place and for sure we will visit this place again. The only issue we faced during checkin was we were expecting property manger to show up and open the gate and he didn’t show up, luckily house owner saw my messages and he shared the code to get in. This was kind of stressful situation and we thought it’s fraud. The house itself has 5 stars but management needs some improvement. Thank you!

Great home for a visit to Yosemite National Park! A 35 minute ride to the park. We looked forward to relaxing at the home with a beautiful view of the valley. It was nice and quiet with everything needed for our stay. This is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. We saw hawks, deer and wild turkeys from the balcony. Easy communication with the owner and property manager. This was a great find!

Loved this place! The owner and property manager was very responsive. Only bummer is the outdoor pool is not heated as advertised. I can imagine on really hot days a cold pool is refreshing but unfortunately it was an ice bath for us. There is also the fact that hot tub was too small (fit 4 people only), so we had to take turn using it...and the jets in the hot tub didn't work...What a bummer. A very lovely place for hot days.

Place was great, we had planned on bringing our entire family, but the air quality was poor from the fire, which made it unpleasant . Our kids and our granddaughter opted out because of the smoke. We really enjoyed the house, especially the game room and the swimming pool ( but the air quality limited how much time we wanted to spend by the pool). The house very comfortable and relaxing, we hope to come back in the future

Our family of 5 from Iowa ("kids" aged 14, 19, 23) loved our Yosemite vacation partly because we had this amazing retreat to come home to after a hot, tiring day in the park. Absolutely loved the property, pool, view and games. Very slight functionality issues with the freezer door handle and master suite door handle being broken would not prevent us from staying again. I am also a big baby and would have like the pool a bit warmer to be able to enjoy it more - after I was in it was refreshing, but the first few minutes were definitely brrrr.

My wife and I, our two boys ages 6 and 8, and my parents spent 5 days at Yosemite South Gate Villa and it was one of the greatest vacations of our lives. The house is wonderful and we all had our space. The porch has amazing views as well as the pool. The kids had a ton of fun playing basketball next to the pool, swimming, cornhole, and using the game room. The sunsets are insanely beautiful from the pool. Best part is you’re 20 minutes from Yosemite. It really is the perfect spot to return to after a day in the park. I’d go back in a heartbeat. And David Charles, the caretaker is a great guy. Two thumbs up, five stars, 10/10 vacation.

The pictures online don’t do it justice. This place was amazing. The pool and views were too notch. The house was clean and is big and super fun to hang out in. Nice covered patio with spectacular views. David the on-site care taker was very sweet and friendly. It’s expensive, but felt well worth the money. Can’t wait to go back some day!

We loved watching the hawks and hummingbirds continually circling around the property. The sunsets were out of this world and were mesmerizing. David, the property manager was so kind hearted and thoughtful! He helped us understand the area and gave us excellent recommendations on what to do. This house is only 20 minutes from Yosemite and 10 minutes from Bass Lake. We felt incredibly safe and secure. We miss it already and look forward to returning someday.

Nice place close to south entrance of Yosemite park..awesome views from back deck and massive yard area..great recreation area in garage..on site manager, Dave, was attentive to whatever was needed and full of local knowledge and advice..I would recommend South Gate villa to stay whenever in the Yosemite area…owners were very accommodating as we had to reschedule our trip to to wildfires at home..communications were fast and on point..thanks James and Dave for a wonderful stay
